| Hi
I just bought used that was almost complete. But I noticed that the
four baseplates seems to have been custom made from a larger baseplate,
because the two sides are clearly a lighter shade of green (I guess this is where
the cuts have been made), and that three corners are not round, but have been
trimmed to give a rounded look.
Are these homemade, or it is possible that LEGO produced these plates from larger
plates (e.g. 1x 16x32 into 4x 8x16) in the late 70's to save the price of
making a 8x16 baseplate mold?

There was another recent discussion about this where it was confirmed that Lego
would produce large baseplates and cut them into smaller baseplates.

Does anyone has a link to that discussion?
Did anyone identify which sizes were affected by this? A note should be made
on those parts so that sellers could know this (instead of throwing them away,
I've done that previously) and so that buyers wouldn't think they were
sent unofficial/custom made parts.

BTW - the 16x32 baseplate in this set is also cut.
Based on the answers in this thread, is would be wise to add notes to parts that
are known to be affected by this (is it all types?)

| I'd say these are very likely cuts made by LEGO originally.
It's actually quite hard to cut these baseplates neatly. I tried and failed...

All baseplates are cut from a bigger sheet by LEGO. These are not injection molded
like most other parts but vacuum formed from sheet or roll.
