| Hi, I recently purchased The Tower Bridge and have noticed that the medium blue
4x8 plates are actually 2 different colour. I have shown pictures below that
outline this. The instructions say there are 18 4587271 plates, actually there
are two slightly darker plates. The lighter 16 say 4-35 on the bottom but the
darker 2 say 2-35. Can someone explain this? It is the same with some of the
other medium blue colours in the set as well.

Hi there
We just finished parting out 2 of these and there was not the difference you
have had. Could be they came from a different batch of plates;.
Everything we had was the right hand side of your photo. The left acutally looks
like dark azure or ish.

2-35 and 4-35 are just numbers indicating from which mould and from where in
the mould the piece came.
Either the parts come from two different colour batches, or there was a dye error
(one wrong batch), or it’s a different colour that was wrongly stored.
Anyway, fine example of LEGO quality control
You can always try and call LEGO, they have a good customer service and might
offer free replacement.

That's a huge difference. The one on the left looks like Dark Azure. Is this
a MISB set?

| The left one looks like it might be old (solid) med. blue and the right newer
(semi-translucent) med. blue.
I've often wondered if/how light plays a role in how we perceive the color
these (precolored abs pellets vs. dyed (by Lego?) pellets)

BINGO, I like this explanation. If I look indirectly at them, I see the same
colours. When I look more directly at them, it's the shadow effects that
are different..

| Hi,
Thank you all for your feedback. The set was brand new and sealed from a trusted
seller on ebay. I agree that they are most likely from separate batches which
is annoying and not very fair as close up you can tell they are different. I
have contacted Lego and they are willing to replace the two slightly darker plates
for free. However, I hope they don't just send me another two darker plates
though on accident.
I also noticed the same problem with a few of the other pieces in the set. Oh
well, I got two free plates out of it! Lol.
