I've got a set in my collection that I haven't been able to find much
info about. It doesn't appear to be in the BrickLink or Brickset databases.
I've included photos of the front and back of the set. It doesn't appear
to have a set number, but the barcode on the bottom of the box is 0 42884 78670
0

Not in the databases? Why, it's been pending approval here on BrickLink
for 3 minutes!

Set No: VP Name: Vehicle Value Pack (6468, 6519)
*
VP-23 (Inv) Vehicle Value Pack (6468, 6519)
2 Sets, 2000
Sets: Town: Town Jr.

I've included photos of the front and back of the set.

It would be nice to have some larger pictures. Please add them here (up to 1600x1200):

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page

Can you also verify the copyright date on the value pack? The year 2000 was
just a guess on my part.

Member mhortar had ample opportunity to submit the item to the catalog, but did
not. Therefore, I did.

It is not uncommon for members to post undiscovered items in the forum and never
submit them to the catalog. I've taken it upon myself to add some of those
items. Please let me know if you'd prefer the BrickLink catalog be less
comprehensive so that I may scale back my efforts.

In this cases I'd prefer the BrickLink catalog be less comprehensive.

I appreciate the attempt at defending(?) me. But I couldn't figure out the
submission process (I actually tried before I posted the photos) and was hoping
that StormChaser would submit it.

You're correct on the copyright date (2000).

I'll try and get some larger photos. I just got a new photography tent to
try and take better pictures, but I'm still working out the best way to use
it.

I appreciate you adding this. I tried to figure out the process before I posted
the photos and couldn't quite work out what I was supposed to do in what
order.

I uploaded new images of the front and back. Hopefully they came out ok.

Thanks! Unfortunately, there's this funny quirk the catalog has: you can't
upload two images for the same item. If you upload a new image, then the one
you already have pending is replaced.

Try this: add a photo of the front as the Set image and a photo of the
back as the Original Box image. That way the catalog entry can have both
images. The only image you have currently pending is of the back of the box.

Thanks for the help. I uploaded the back of the box as the original box image
then deleted and re-added the front with an image that is better centered. Hopefully
these are ok.

Just curious, but would pictures of sealed box contents be useful anywhere on
the site (at least for sets that have view windows)? I've got around 440
different sealed sets that are from 1998 or older. I know I've seen other
forums where people have posted sealed contents, but that's usually for more
recent sets. I've struggled in the past to figure out if a 'new/open
box' set is complete or not since it's hard to find photos of contents
on 30+ year old sets sometimes.

Yes, absolutely. These pictures are always helpful for a number of reasons.
A few things to keep in mind:

To actually be useful, they should be large and well-lit. The max size accepted
is 1600x1200 and the images you're asking about submitting should be that
big after the extra space is cropped out.

These images, if accepted, would be considered alternate images of the original
boxes. Just submit a picture as the original box image with a note that it is
an alternate image and the catalog administrators can take care of it.

It is possible that not every image will be accepted, so don't be disappointed
if that occurs. I imagine most would, though - the site is always interested
in high-quality additional images and your pictures of sealed contents inside
view windows would, as I said, be helpful to have around.

Everything looks good, but I do have one question. Did you open the set? The
pictures you added to the catalog showed the set was still sealed.

You listed the source as Sealed Set Contents. This source is only appropriate
if you've actually opened the set and checked to see what is inside (there
could be items included which are not visible - not likely for this set, but
still possible).

If you didn't open the set, then the appropriate source would be Set Box/Picture.

Gotcha. I'll keep that in mind for next time. It looks like someone already
update the source, so thanks for that if it was you.
