This change is more problematic because minifigs can't have alternate parts
and this variant recently discovered is probably only alternate to part 4624
in this set. From 2017 LEGO started to change old mould 4624 to new one 34337.

Then you maybe should only add a note to the car inventory. I parted out two
of the sets an all wheels were the new version - 4 for the cars in each set an
one extra in each set. The 1 extra part then needs an alternate part, right?

Yes a note is a good idea, I don't see any point in adding whole alternate
car with new part to it.
Extra part is an extra so diffrent variants can be in extras section together.

FYI my copy of the set has new version of the wheel with the slot.

I can't say for sure because I don't keep sets separate. However, as
I mentioned in this message:

I believe this set probably came with the new slotted wheels based on which sets
including this wheel that I've purchased in the last couple of years. I
didn't change them because I wasn't certain of it; but if other people
are reporting finding the new slotted wheels in this set, then I'm confident
those reports are accurate and the inventory can be changed over.
It is a little embarrassing not to have noticed it at the time, though.

I can help you feel better about that, I think. I found an old variant palm
tree piece in a Belville set and added it to the catalog. But I do not know
which set it came from. So for at least a few days it won't be in an inventory.
But I bought a lot more Belville sets and I have my fingers crossed.

Maybe I'm out of touch but why are they even minifigs in the first place?
