Perhaps someone who has some insight into this matter will be willing to share
their knowledge?
This part only comes in one set (with part 57878 Train Wheel RC Train listed
as a counterpart):
This part comes in 70 sets and two parts:
Are they the same part with duplicate catalog entries? This is what I suspect.

Part 2879 is only in the inventory for set 9764-1. Brickset has that set listed
with part 57878 in the inventory.
