I got an excellent lot including some train sets and space sets. The condition
of all sets is excellent considering the age. Boxes are in good or very good
condition and sets are complete including instructions.
In the lot, four space sets were included.
1)

Set No: 926 Name: Command Centre (Center)
*
926-1 (Inv) Command Centre (Center)
147 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 1979
Sets: Space: Classic Space
Including box (missing only 2 two blue bricks 2*2)
2)

Set No: 6841 Name: Mineral Detector
*
6841-1 (Inv) Mineral Detector
33 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1980
Sets: Space: Classic Space
whose inventory includes two

Minifig No: sp005 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
*
sp005 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
and two

Minifig No: sp006 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
*
sp006 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
3)

Set No: 891 Name: Two-Man Scooter
*
891-1 (Inv) Two-Man Scooter
35 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1979
Sets: Space: Classic Space
whose inventory includes one

Minifig No: sp006 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
*
sp006 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
3)

Set No: 889 Name: Radar Truck
*
889-1 (Inv) Radar Truck
20 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1979
Sets: Space: Classic Space
whose inventory includes one

Minifig No: sp005 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
*
sp005 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

In the box of 926, all parts of these four sets were mixed (and no part from
other sets). Seven minifigs were included
Three

Minifig No: sp063 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks, Stickered Torso Pattern
*
sp063 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks, Stickered Torso Pattern
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
three

Minifig No: sp064 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks, Stickered Torso Pattern
*
sp064 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks, Stickered Torso Pattern
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
one

Minifig No: sp005 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
*
sp005 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
.
So
two white sp063 and two red sp064 should come with 926
one white sp063 should come with 926 and
and
one white sp063 should come with 891.
I cannot say that if the last red sp064 comes with 6841 or 889.

I'm not overly familiar with these stickered torso figures. I'm not
sure if they come from the existence of these sheets:

[P=SPACEstk01]
[P=SPACEstk02]

which came, I'm told, from TLG customer service only (read the additional
catalog notes for the sticker sheets), or if the torso stickered figures were
included in new sets.

The question which should be answered before we proceed here is whether the torsos
with stickers already applied were included in sealed sets or not. I'm sure
someone here knows the answer to that . . . ?

I know I had some of these stickered minifigs when I was a child. Of course these
sets are around 40 years old so I don't remember the exact details, but as
far as I remember some sets came with plain red or white torsos and sticker sheets
with the torso stickers.

Based on Bricklink inventory guidelines I guess this means that stickered minifigs
should be added as counterparts and minifigs with plain red and white torsos
should be added as alternates for the minifigs with printed torsos.

That is what I was suspecting should happen for classic space sets with stickered
minifigures and I believe Stefaan agrees with you. In other words, I rather
doubted that the stickered figures came in sealed sets from the LEGO factory
with the stickers pre-applied. It could happen, but I don't know of many
other times that has happened.

I haven't looked myself, but can anyone find an example of a brand new set
from this time period showing that the set contained an un-stickered torso assembly
and one of the sticker sheets?

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm interested in videos
or photos of a new space set which included the space figures and sticker sheets
we're discussing.

I then really need to travel to the past and speak to one of manager of TLG in
late 70s.
Once I do this, many issues on inventories would be resolved.

So you don't believe Paul, nor Reza, nor me about the stickersheets and plain
torso's?

Don't think any Lego part comes/came stickered (maybe an exception?), there
is always a stickersheet for that part or parts (a large stickersheet or a small
one, or more then one in a set)

I don’t think it’s about “believing,” more about having proof for the future.

You did not address the issue of whether your set came with plain torsos and

this as my 2nd set when I was 5-6y old." and I believe you.

Consider, however, the sources: one used lot and two people who are remembering
details from childhood. I don't remember much from when I was 5 years old.
As SylvainLS said, it's not that I don't believe anyone - it would just
be nice to have more substantial sources.

I do think that all of you are very likely correct and what is probably going
to happen is that I'm going to find a way to reflect the 1979 stickered/un-stickered
figures in the inventories along with the sticker sheets (and inventory notes).

I think we could probably move forward with doing this thing even now, but the
first step is for someone to add the figures with plain torsos to the catalog.
I don't have the parts or figures necessary to do this, so I'm waiting
on someone to submit these figures with photos.

Looks like the torsos themselves already exist (see the additional note for the
red one):

[P=973c44]
[P=973c09]

Still need the figures added, though.

I can do this.
However there was no trace of any sticker sheets in these sets. Recall that the
sticker sheets in the data base have each two stickers so for two torsos. But
three sets out of four in my lot have each one minifigs. So either
- there should have been one sticker left for each of these three sets (889,
891, 6841) Since the previous owner was very organized but no sticker sheet was
found in the box, this is not likely.
- a different sticker sheet were included in these sets. (is this likely? so
many years and nobody added these stickers?)
- the minifigures were first stickerred by TLG and included in these sets.

By the way, I have asked this question in a facebook group for classic space
sets.

I added the minifigs.

Some comments from few experts:
- hollow torsos
- the airtanks are a more translucent plastic than the later ones
- The stickers came on a sheet inside the box.
- some classic space sets were released in late 1978 rather than 1979 and they
cme with sticker sheets for the minifigs.

See attached some photo I took.

Yep, here they are:

Minifig No: sp128 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks, Torso Plain
*
sp128 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks, Torso Plain
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Minifig No: sp127 Name: Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks, Torso Plain
*
sp127 (Inv) Classic Space - Red with Air Tanks, Torso Plain
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

Now I'm waiting to hear back from the catalog administrators on the additional
note for the sticker sheets which state that they must not be added to inventories.

You did not address the issue of whether your set came with plain torsos and
sticker sheets. You said, "Set 889 came with the stickered torso/minifig. Got
this as my 2nd set when I was 5-6y old." and I believe you.

Robert

I'm sorry.

That is right, I didn't addressed this but I assumed that everyone would
know this (about the plain torso and stickersheet)

Don't know were the info came from about the 'already in box stickered
minifig'.

PS: yes I still remember (like a lot other do) what my first Lego set was, my
2nd, 3th etc...

I'm not overly familiar with these stickered torso figures. I'm not
sure if they come from the existence of these sheets:

[P=SPACEstk01]
[P=SPACEstk02]

which came, I'm told, from TLG customer service only (read the additional
catalog notes for the sticker sheets), or if the torso stickered figures were
included in new sets.

The question which should be answered before we proceed here is whether the torsos
with stickers already applied were included in sealed sets or not. I'm sure
someone here knows the answer to that . . . ?

Maybe it's time to change that note (delete) and add the stickersheet to
the sets we know (like set 889 for ex.)
When in a later run the minfig in this set was the printed torso then this minfig
need to changes as alternate as 'MID 1' and the stickersheet and minfig
as regular with the 'MID 1' like we have done in other sets.
