| When I receive messages from members that have been generated via the Contact
Form, my instinct is to hit the 'reply' button and then proceed providing
a response to whatever question has been posed. THis is the way every other email
or messaging system I have ever encountered works.
But doing so yields an unpleasant surprise: my response is sent to a black hole
instead of the actual sending party.
I (now) know that the member address can be found in the body of the email, but
two things:
1 - Would I ever really want to reply to 'blservice@bricklink.com'? (No)
2 - Replying on a mobile device where copying text segments (the email address)
isn't very easy makes this situation worse
I can't think of any good reason that the sending member's address ISN'T
the one provided upon receipt and would respectfully suggest that it be changed.

| I mentioned this a while back too, as I also forget and hit reply instead of
forward. There isn't even an error message to alert you that the email was
sent to an address that won't receive it.
I'm sure it has been requested several more times too. Just something we
have to live with I think.

Receiving Bricklink messages by email is an extra service and not intended to
be the standard communication method.
Advised and preferred is to use the Bricklink messaging system to contact other
members instead of email.
Messages related to orders will be attached to the order.
All other messages are available for Admin to view, if necessary.

It USED to work like you mention. It's been less than a year that it's
been broken.

| The system works as designed BUT time has moved on and better methods are available.
I believe it works like this...
You will see the buyers email addy and be able to reply back to it if they do
not have their privacy settings turned up
You will see a reply to BL addy if they are turned on
The best method would be to have BL operate an email server of their own which
would convey the messages through BL so that an admin would be able to see the
communications if necessary (same method as BO uses).
I'm sure the people in charge of the future BL seller tools will include
a more modern approach.

You can get some pretty long, if not very long odds on that happening
