I see bill time has come around again from BL.

I note that there is now "please" in the pay now demand.

How do we teach the next generation of people respect when major organisations
refuse to be polite?

Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front
of a person, or making a mistake and providing acknowledgement and sympathy to
the person I may have caused harm to!!!

Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

for trading/using/selling through our service....

After all I give a lot of my time to making the store work, I am happy to pay
for the service/ use the website mostly, but the ride is not free and easy, anyone
who works a busy store will tell you that. So I really believe a drop of kindness
is a slight acknowledgement that BL is not shouldering the load of the site and
that it takes a community, as a whole to give and take for the site to work and
I think that others are also slightly disappointed that BL Admin is not always
acknowledging the effort store owners and buyers put in to make it work!

Please consider!

Thank you for your time,
Kind regards
Dave

I blame those things too although we don't all have to buy in to poor standards
just because others think it's trendy. Hopefully phones will soon have AI
and they'll be able to communicate with each other in their own rude language
without our involvement leaving us humans to go back to human interaction.

I agree with the OP's sentiment though, we always try to put basic niceties
in our messages even if they are problem related like NPB's

This suggestion got discarded before I had a chance to vote for it, but I did
want to let you know in the meantime I placed an order in someone's store
and said "please" and "thanks" in the order notes.

Hi.

I appreciate your points as I too come from the era where thank you and please
were much more common then they are now.

But I have to say, the gist of your message goes completely contrary to the idea
of showing respect. I don't say this because I am trying to be a jerk or
incite anybody in a negative way but just looking at your message I see allot
of disrespect being shown towards BrickLink.

Here is what I mean....

By saying this:

"Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front

And then following up with this:

"Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

You are implying that because BL dose not use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU in
their request for money that all the bad things you mentioned in the previous
paragraphs apply to them.

You are even referring to them as a company with "big nasty company behavior"
problems.

To say all this just because they don't use the words PLEASE or THANK YOU
is quite a stretch.

Again, I am not trying to be a jerk and start something. If nobody else here
reads what you said in the same way as I do then I apologize for taking it wrong.

Hi Jim,
Your acceptance of the behaviour of people/companies/businesses and your lack
of understanding of my message is unfortunately why we have so many problems
today. The constant bullying and failure to accept that people are fragile and
lack of empathy is creating a world where people are giving up.

Many people, despite the access to communications are killing themselves because
they have lost touch with other people. It has been constantly proven that the
average human is a pack animal that can not live with others. In our current
society we alien each other by ignoring the simple things that make us warm and
fuzzy. By Acknowledging that a person is there or contributes then this person
feels self worth, and that what manners were invented for. It gave people a way
of addressing the support of others in way that was not demeaning or debase.
And so when companies and businesses ignore simple things like, hello good- bye,
please, thank you and the all important: we are sorry we got it wrong, it teaches
the new generation that they can be ignored too.
So often now store employees refuse to say thank you for taking your money, we
give them a job when we buy merchandise and they in turn can buy stuff they want
and need. A thank you is not debasing, it is simply acknowledging that the person
handing the money over for goods has obtained the money they have earned and
chosen to spend the money at this location - when they could have chosen another.
If you think it is acceptable for any company, (and BL is NOT small - just look
at the order numbers and how quickly they turn over), can ignore their manners
then young kids learn to ignore them, or fail to practise them.
So as a society we fail to acknowledge the person we deal with and in doing so
begin to crush their self worth. Look at the story of Pink Floyd's wall and
learn this story, there is so many like it now, each step that a person takes
can be forward, side ways or backward. A step in any direction is determined
by input or decisions internally. A person takes steps bit by bit to destruction
as they feel options and resolutions fade. Thelma and Louise was a story to watch,
here two woman decide suicide is their only option, when you watch how it happens
bit by bit it makes sense. If you watch only the beginning and the end you shake
your head and wonder why they did it.

So in the end manners have their place, you never know whether that polite hello,
good-bye, please or thank you could mean the difference between someone committing
suicide or stepping forward and having a productive life.
If you value people and care then please rethink your message above and learn
how important a simple word can be!!!

Kind regards,
Dave

How many deaths could have been avoided over the lifespan of Bricklink? We should
hold Bricklink accountable for any suicides that have happened during the time
they have been thoughtlessly not saying please and thank you for people paying
them for providing a service...Wait, that sounds kinda ridiculous...

Do you mean, for example, capital letters at the start of a sentence?

Hi Dave,

Being that your suggestion was regarding manners, I find it embarrassing that
it was so quickly discarded without an explanation! Sorry about that. We appreciate
your suggestion and users may now vote as they please.

Thanks so much!
