| It is VERY important for sellers to be able to have an order status of "Echeck
Pending". This status should NOT allow for order additions, the same as "Paid"
and "Packed". Trying to keep track of Echecks is daunting without it. I had 3
of them pending just this week. Marking them as "Paid" or "Packed" is not an
option, as I use those for specific things, and other options allow for order
additions, which is NOT an option for me. It needs to be more obvious why the
order hasn't shipped yet, since the current onsite payment system automatically
sets the status to "Paid". I don't mind having to set it to another status,
but it would actually be even better if the system recognized Echecks, and changed
it to "Echeck Pending" automatically.
Thanks,
Darren

Separate the payment status from the order status, and you will have "Clearing"
as an option for payments.

Yes, the buyer can mark the payment as 'Sent: payment is on it's way.'
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=121
Payment is 'Sent', not paid, until the seller marks the payment as 'Completed'.

What? I receive an onsite payment, and the order is marked paid automatically
by Bricklink. The only solution so far is to add an entire new column to my order
page, that is useless to me, and as far as I can tell, not seen by buyers anyway.
I'm only asking for an added order status of Payment Pending that blocks
order additions, so I can keep my orders page easy to use, and make it easy for
buyers to check the status of their order that was paid with an Echeck.

I think the last bit is the real issue here. Often buyers don't seem to realise
that their payment went as an echeck rather than as a completed payment. Of course
it is nice for a seller to know they have cleared payment rather than an echeck
waiting to clear, but it is a pain if sellers have to contact buyers each time
this happens to tell them that although they think they've paid, they haven't
yet.
And voted yes. If BL can tell the difference between a cleared and a pending
echeck, then this should be added.

Darren's concern is real. It is an issue that should be addressed. More for
as Darren stated; for the buyer's ability see and understand clearly what
their order status is, as it concerns echecks and shipping wait-times.
Marc's also correct if you separate the the two, when the buyer pays via
onsite, it sets the payment status to "Received" I can then change the status,
as a seller to "Completed" if there's no echeck, or "Clearing" if you wish,
as I have it set-up now and using Chrome. However, as a buyer my view of the
order payment status is not as nuanced.
But I've also noticed different order status options using other browsers,
so I'm always a little uncertain of any given buyer's view of order status,
given the variables such as how they've set-up their page, which browser
they're using, etc.
As it is now, I simply ship the order (if under $100) in lieu of waiting on echeck
clearance, to avoid buyer issues. Because like I said: The buyer is often not
aware of their PayPal payment status. As it stands now, if the order value is
high enough to be out of the comfort zone, I'll send an message via the order
page, informing the buyer of the wait time and letting PP absorb some of the
buyers disappointment, as they should, IMO.

The problem with this, is that Paypal will not release the address so that you
can easily print a label, before clearance. Have I sent before clearing? Absolutely,
when it is a known customer that I have shipped to previously. However, when
it is a new customer, I would rather wait until clearance just so everything
is documented, including the address from Paypal, so I am 'covered' by
their seller protection.

Then don't ship, Lisa. You've weighted the salient points and act in
a manner that you are most comfortable with, I respect that fully. In fact, I'm
sure most here feel the same as you in this matter. I don't.
For me, other points carry value that I factor in. It's enough to say, it's
how I've handled this for years, it's the manner in which I'm most
comfortable.
BTW - PayPal does supply the shipping addresses within echeck payments, just
not the shipping tab. Here's my last BL order that was paid with echeck,
from a new buyer, that was shipped without delay using PayPal.com/shipnow. The
buyer actually received the package a day before the payment cleared.....
It seems the more I read how others conduct business here in the forum, the more

I guess it is all down to the order details. I've shipped echeck orders before
clearance if I was comfortable with them, but for one I decided to wait: 0 feedback
buyer, different country to me, $80 or so order, paypal address doesn't match
BL address. That one turned out fine, just slow clearance time. I let the buyer
know there would be a delay and he was fine with it too.

It would also be nice if there was a form email that you could just click on
when status was set to "eCheck". Similar to button to send an invoice or drive

I see under seller settings that you can block them. But I still don't see
how it works practically. If a customer doesn't read my terms and pays with
an eCheck and gets blocked, what are they going to do? Not apply for a credit
card, I'd imagine. They'll cancel an order that I already pulled, right?
eChecks mildly annoy me. I can see how they'd feel a lot worse if I were
a much bigger store, but I think I just have to tolerate them.

They can always manually transfer money from their bank account to their PayPal

| Since we pick before invoicing, we have a designated shelf for "Invoiced and
awaiting payment". It doesn't matter to us if an order sits there for a
few extra days while an e-check clears, if that makes it easier for our customers
to decide to buy from us.
And yes, I WOULD really like a "Payment pending" status option, since I have
had 2 of our e-check buyers not realize that their payment was being held by
paypal when I sent them a "Hey, FYI, shipment will be delayed while payment clears"
email.
