Please provide the ability to exclude orders which are not indicating payment
(including those in NPB or NSS) from the Price Guide. These orders allow a relatively
simple way to manipulate the PG numbers, and do not reflect real sales.

thanks

Wow, I never knew these orders were even considered in these statistics. I would
go further than providing the ability; I think they should not be used at all..

See the 4x sold at $2.00 each ? Those are from an order that I have in NPB.

The title on those left two columns sales 'Sales'. It's not a Sale
until it's paid for. Until then, it's an Order.

I would say that Bricklink may disagree with you since a submited order (to them
and by the ToS) is a binding contract and considered a sale, and it's the
cancelled order or NPB that is the exception

Plus, Bricklink really doesn't know if something is truly paid or not if
it was paid by paypal (the classic way), IBAN, cash, etc.

Those sales number, even for ones that haven't been paid, could be a front
runner for a change in trend.

A formerly rare part that becomes availabe in a set, or a pick a brick wall,
or a formerly produced part in key big sets now is changed.

If you wait for the seller to indicate that it's paid for, that could also
be manipulated.
Could a seller who is selling 1000's of parts at a lower price because they
got them off a PaB wall keep the sale price high by not shipping (or indicating
that he shipped for a few extra days)

Aren't they removed once the orders are cancelled?

How would this work? If someone pays by PayPal offsite (as opposed to onsite)
or bank transfer, etc, then BL has no proof of payment. So will these be excluded?
If the seller or buyer clicks paid, then the order indicates as paid so they
would show in the PG. If wanting to manipulate the PG the seller / buyer could
do this then a few months later mark them as unpaid and cancel the order.

You can of course always pretend a sale happened, that is inevitable. But these
statistics should only include shipped/completed orders. Besides, if a seller
wishes to manipulate the priceguide then, he would have to pay fees, so that
too discourages this. Especially since he'd need expensive orders in order
to be able to skew the priceguide.

The intention of this suggestion was to give sellers the ability to see what
the price guide looks like with those items suppressed (or appropriately flagged).
The intention was never to remove them. There are valid reasons to see them (sometimes).

As to the manipulation vs fees owed to BL … some price movements, on certain
parts, would more than cover the fees, so be careful making that assumption.
I do not know of anyone doing this, but it should not be ruled out.

I don't know about NSS but if you complete an NPB and in doing so cancel
the order I thought the order is then removed from the sold results in the PG.
I just checked an order we cancelled at a buyer's request a few days ago
and those parts do not show in the sold results.

But they are shown in the results from the time the order is placed until the

What about the 11 orders for

Set No: 10219 Name: Maersk Container Train
*
10219-1 (Inv) Maersk Container Train
1218 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2011
Sets: Train: RC Train
for $25.00

That was deemed a scam, and most if not all cancelled. They still appear on
the PG?

I don't know about NSS but if you complete an NPB and in doing so cancel

I just checked an order we cancelled at a buyer's request a few days ago
and those parts do not show in the sold results.

Robert

But they are shown in the results from the time the order is placed until the
order is cancelled.

What about the 11 orders for

Set No: 10219 Name: Maersk Container Train
*
10219-1 (Inv) Maersk Container Train
1218 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2011
Sets: Train: RC Train
for $25.00

That was deemed a scam, and most if not all cancelled. They still appear on
the PG?

Dave

who cancelled them, the buyer, the seller, or bricklink?

Ours was cancelled by BL:
Order was Cancelled via Order Cancel Request on Jun 6, 2016 18:52.

Reason: Seller did not respond to emails

Does yours show up in the price guide anymore? (Do you have a blue box next to
it)

Marc.

Yes,still there.

Can you post a screenshot of the price guide, and also the order page after you
click the blue square?

Awesome, thanks. So it appears that if BL cancels an order (instead of it completing
an NSS or NPB), these do not get removed. That is a bit odd, though perhaps BL's
reasoning is that they still want the seller to be on the hook for the seller
fees.

Thanks for the screens.

Possibly, because I have had 2 or 3 orders I have cancelled because of "High
shipping" costs, and they are all out of the Price guide.

In reality, we only want the highest quality transactions in the left columns
on the PG. Orders not paid for and orders not shipped (which get to NSS), do
not meet the litmus test of a legitimate Sale.

Robert says cancelled orders are not included, Ray says they are. I guess that
can't both be accurate. Which is it? I'd like to know now..
I think everyone agrees the priceguide reflects the current asked amount (current
average) and the offered amount (L6MS), anything cancelled has no business in
any of these stats..

They are not. Once an order is cancelled, it is removed from the Price Guide.
If an item removal request is approved, that item sale is removed as well.

I don't think I said that anywhere. Cancelled orders do vacate the price
guide, but only when the cancel process is completed. There are some parts on
BL which are listed at prices which are a premium to what other sellers are offering
at. My point is that sales to those should not appear unless there is a reasonable
expectation that any order placed at those prices are legitimate. Remember, this
is a price guide, and is talking about monetary transactions. It should be reflecting
what an arbitrary seller/buyer combination has an expectation to receive. Anything
that effects those results should be flagged as such.

At which point should they enter the price guide though? At the time of the order,
at the time of the payment, at the time of the order being marked complete? For
all of those, the seller could wait to manipulate the price guide or even not
mark complete, for example, to avoid them being added to the price guide.

I would say, at the time of the order. BUT, I also think it should be removed,
once the order has been cancelled. Since, for whatever reason, the order is
not final.
Just my thought.

Thanks Marc for clearing that up. It sounds better to me though it if were added
only once the order has been completed. That will give it a 2 week delay maybe,
but what's that on last 6 month sales, really. That way, any kind of manipulation
is much less likely. Seems more robust to me.

I think this is the best possible question. In my view, either I need a way to
suppress detail items that do meet the test of 'ordered, paid, shipped',
or … the other approach would be to put an indicator on the line items to indicate:
not marked as paid, in NPB, in NSS, and possibly 'canceled by BL'. Even
if the averages continue to be skewed, that would give us some clues about which
line items are questionable, and why. It would improve transparency.

OK, I misunderstood. In this case I vote no. A sale is a sale independent of
payment status (payment terms can stipulate buy now pay later amongst other options
such as trades for store credits, etc, etc) unless/until it is later cancelled.
I cannot see how BL could determine when an order was paid for, that is open
to manipulation from the seller declaring it paid or not. When would fees be
applied .. only when the seller declared it paid... after all risk of chargebacks,
returns and bounced payments?? Keep it simple please, items move from inventory
to sold not via some pending status.

Robert
