When trying to locate a decorated part in the catalog … and I can clearly see
the part number on the part ( e.g. 30116 ) … the existing two catalog search
options both are unable to get a hit on the decorated item number that begins
with the part number ( e.g. 30116pb01 ).

The current search options are:
Whole Word in Field
Whole Word

Please add:
Anywhere in field
( or alternately )
Begins With

Thank You

You're still able to use the wildcard search, right? '30116*' finds
the part you're looking for (along with a couple others). It appears that
the wildcard is only allowed at the end of the field, looking for '*116pb01'
didn't find anything for me.

Ray,
the search is very powerful with the current options - if used properly:

Thank you for pointing that out. From my perspective (with an extensive IT background)
having to do that, on a site where the average member is not expected to know
grep commands, is a bit out of line. My suggestion is still appropriate. The
user interface needs to be improved to allow the average user the chance to find
what they are looking for without resorting to commands that derive from unix.
