| Hello together,
from time to time a make a small mistake in identifying the right Color of a
part. This happens to difficult Colors like for example silver.
If I take a look into the catalog entry of the parts I can easily find then the
mistake because my uploaded Color isn't in the list "known Colors".
And here's my idea:
Won't it be possible to Change the function of the database in that way that
you will receive an error message if you try to upload a part with an unknown
Color into your inventory?
My expectation with this function would be that the amount of wrong Colors will
be reduced in the future - and this will help everybody.
And maybe a next step could be that inventories with unknown colored parts will
get a message that the users have to correct and update the inventory.
What do you think about this idea?
Best regards,
Oliver.

Simply click the "Show known colors" button on the sell item screen.

| Bad idea. Loads of parts out there in off colours. I got plety of them
But perhaps something like a warning : "This part does not officially exist in
this colour - Are you SURE it's the right colour?"
This might at least cut down on the LBG/DBG/old greys confusion (and perhaps
also some of the neon trans and the metallics)
Cheers,
Ole

A warning might work:
"This part is not known to have been released in any set in this colour - Are
you SURE it's the right colour?"

Hey,
Thank you all for your feedback.
Maybe just a warning message would be good if someone is adding an unknown color.
This would be helpful.
With the background that there are also colors which aren't used in any sets
it is changing my idea to a bad one.
But why do parts in colors exists which have never been used in a set? Are these
parts for example for LEGO or others to create the large models / pictures, etc.
where they need a tons of bricks?
Best regards,
Oliver.

| TLG makes a lot of parts for their LEGOland parks in colours that we mere mortals
can't touch. I saw tan there in the early 80's ..
Many prototypes are also made that sometimes get into the wild (aka BL)
If you haven't seen this, excuse me for blowing ya head :

| Oh, wow, I actually have a piece that isn't in his photo collection:
...only, in YELLOW: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3688&idColor=3#T=P&C=3
(I don't know how to get the part above to render preview in that color,
though.)
