Currently the "year released" attribute for parts is auto-defined and gets the
same release date as the set the part is in.

This results in wrong info, when a freshly released part makes into an older
set and gets added as an alternate.

Here's a situation when it resulted in half a decade worth of error:

The part used to have the release date of 2015, but now has 2010

Part No: 3626cpb1211 Name: Minifigure, Head Female Black Thin Eyebrows, Eyelashes, Nougat Lips, Grin Pattern - Hollow Stud

IF(!) BL would like to have the most accurate LEGO parts catalog on the web,
this must be addressed.

I vote "yes"

One of the ways I have proposed of addressing this problem is to exclude alternates
from the year of release data, unless there are no occurances as a Regular item.
Otherwise the Dacta sets wreak havoc on the years of release, not only for parts
but for colors sometimes too.

Yes, that would be a totally legitimate way of addressing this Actually had
the very same idea in my head.

Sorry if I missed a conversation about this earlier and it has already been suggested.
I am getting a little less opportunities to be active on the forums lately.
