For when the linked thread gets purged:

Good info, Karen! I also received orange bricks with pins instead of red, and
LBG plates with pins instead of DBG. The black plates and tiles from the inventory
were Brown in my set (maybe RB, I have to check), and it appears the technic
pin connectors were Light Gray, not LBG.

Alas, I can't confirm what I received is accurate to the original set, even
with your very useful information, so no change request will be made yet.

Thanks for the reply.

  Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has/had a new

whose inventory they can vouch
for.

I recently acquired a used [complete] set, and parted some of it out into my
store, only to later discover about a half a dozen potential errors in the inventory.
I would submit inventory change requests, but since the set I bought was used
I can not confirm the current inventory is wrong (maybe the previous owner switched
out some parts for others?). There are mostly color discrepancies (LBG vs LG,
RB vs Black, Orange vs Red). A couple quantity ambiguities.

Can anyone help by confirming / disproving the accuracy of the current inventory?

K

I had the set at one time, but no longer have it.

I can tell you that there should be orange 2x4 bricks with pins in the inventory
rather than red. You can see that if you look closely at the image on the front
of the set. Red, blue, yellow and green parts are used for the bases, and either
light gray plates with pins or orange bricks with pins for the sugar phosphate
backbones.

I also recall those 2x4 plates with pins as being light gray, rather than dark
gray. I believe that the set I had used old grays, but LEGO Education does not
distinguish between the two, and the same set is sometimes sold for many years.
There are a number of LEGO Ed sets that originally came with old grays, but
newer versions came with new grays.

Hope that helps some!

Karen

One other note: the year released in the catalog listing is 2008, but I had
this set well before then. I home-schooled my sons, and used this in 9th grade
biology for my oldest, which would have been around 2003-2004.
