| Please make changes to the following inventory:
* | | 7019-1 (Inv) Viking Fortress against the Fafnir Dragon 979 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2005 Sets: Vikings |
* Change {49 to 50} Part Reddish Brown 30137 Brick, Modified 1 x 4 Log
Comments from Submitter:
On Nov 7, 2005, the quantity for this part (Reddish Brown Log 1X4) was changed from 50 to 49. But my set has 50 of these pieces.
I can't figure out if there are some sets that only have 49 of these pieces, but if one looks at the building instructions on the Lego website, the quantity of these bricks is shown as follows:
Page 32-33: 14 (on wall) plus 10 on the top header (note: 4 on the underside of it)
Page 38: 2 along the top
Page 71: 12 along the top
Page 78: another 12 along the top (as this wall is built twice)
This totals to 14+10+2+12+12=50
So some of the sets have 50 of these parts. I don't know if I should make this an Alternate Item, or just change the number.

This is one of those sets with multiple versions of instructions, so it's
really impossible to say until you get both versions side by side and figure
out what is going on. And then to do the right job on the inventory, you would
need to set up a single match number for the version change and use that match
number on all the parts involved.
Inventories like this are a real hornets nest to deal with. 984 parts. Good luck.

| Thanks, viejos, I figured this would be a problem since my istruction
book has about 4 differences from the inventory listed. However, I did look
at the two instruction booklets on the Lego website side by side and they
both show a quantity of 50. Those are the only booklets I could find so
I definitely know that one version of the set has a quantity of 50. I just
don't know how to figure out if there is another version with a quantity
of 49. I will try google to see if I can find any other versions of the booklet.
Thanks again.

Well, depends on the number of changes between the 2 versions actually.
Best way to start is to find the instructions of both versions and print the
parts list in the back of the BI and 'scrape away' every identical lot.
On what's left one needs decide to have one or the other as 'regular',
the remaining as 'alternate'. Regroup all parts in the regular as 1 MID
(I used 99 in one of the SW sets,) and also use the same MID on all 'alternates'.
That way it is clear what parts are in one and which parts are in the other version.
The biggest complication is when the parts also have 'alternate' versions(=mold
variations) of certain parts, particulary if those are in the 'special'
MID. The latter is not possible under the current system, if the alternate parts
are not related to the special MID, then it stays fairly simply as they would
have MID1,2,3, etc.
