The (x10) seems easily confused by new buyers to mean you get 10 for each purchase.

Ie they are thinking (*10)

And I think a clearer text would not hurt things at all right??

Sorry but no

In 10s

or

by 10s

would look even worse IMHO

This bulk thing has worked for over a decade (I assume it has been like that
for that long), so nothing to fix for the vast majority of users, and a simple
explanation to your buyer will do the trick.

Like I said in my other post: a help text when hovering on such listing might
help things, but I think we'll need to wait for BL3 on that.

But it hasn't worked for those 10 years. This is BY FAR the issue I get
asked questions on the most, for the reason that Mike cited. A couple of times
a week, every week.

This is the solution, that I posed 10 years ago, and there is no reason that
it can not be implemented now. There is no need to wait until BL3. There are
other examples on the site already where this is done.

Maybe you should get rid of 'bulk' then

I can understand bulksellers getting more questions about it, but the suggested
options do not make it more obvious IMHO, also when a buyer tries to add a quantity
less then the stated bulkamount (or not matching muliples of it), he/she gets
a red pop-up banner saying: Oops! This seller asks that you buy this item
in multiples of x
So a person thinking that when he buys 1 he gets x of those,
and tries to put 1 in cart, the buyer gets a warning that should make him understand
what the bulk amount number means. However, what I do not like is the fact that
shoppingcarts says xX behind the selected amount, because that indeed isn't
quite the way it should show and will confuse the buyer, once it is in cart it
becomes irrelevant IMO (particulary for the fact that if the buyer tries to add
1 more, the same pop-up appears)

Well, if you think it can be done in the current layout of BL, why not make a
suggestion about that. I believe it would be far more practical then changing
the current display of the bulk amount requirement IMHO

No.

This is how I prevent 100 lot $10 orders, by forcing buyers to purchase more
of low price items. I prefer this to convoluted lot limits/fees.

It also makes it much easier to pull orders as most items are already pre-counted
and bagged in the multiples that buyers have to purchase them.

I agree, such a change would only be marginally helpful.

Every page of my store has "(x10) means that you must buy the item in multiples
of 10. Price is for EACH item." at the top. I still get the questions.

I had given up on it. I suggested it many times over the years. I do not know
why Dan chose not to implement it. My guess would be it was a low priority.

The "technology" is obviously in place to do this. Just mouse around on this
page and you will see it. If I mouse over the green box next to your store name,
I get a box that says "Seller ships to my country". If I mouse over the thought
bubbles after your name, I get a popup that says "View a11 messages posted by
RobErNat".

I see no reason why the same could not be done for the buy multiplier on store
pages. Just need to have it say "You must buy in multiples of this number, price
is per each item" or something similar.

Perhaps I should suggest it again.

I think "min 10" would be clearer. The x definitely looks like the quantity is
being multiplied and each 1 ordered is a package of that amount.

Of course the number is more than just a minimum but if they tried to order 15
they get a detailed message asking to order in multiples of 10. And it would
clear up the confusion where things like wheels are ordered in 2s or 4s

But what do we know, we use this site every day. What Bricklink really needs
to do is ask the customers (especially new customers) what they think

But it isn't a "Min 10." It's a "must buy in multiple of 10," right?

I do agree that x is misleading. I used to think that it was "You get 10 at this
price!" if I saw a x10

Exactly, those of us who have feedback above 5, can't really answer this
properly. Newbies have to tell us if it's confusing, and so far my problems
with it, are always newbies. And this time I didn't double/triple check
with them, which I usually do.

Hopefully something can be done to make it more obvious without pissing everyone
off.

I *wish* BL would allow minimum purchases. I really couldn't care less whether
someone wants to buy 30 of a 5c part, or 31 of them. Even if I had them pre-bagged
in 10x increments, it wouldn't be a problem to add 1 more, because I'd
store them together.

But I'd really love to be able to set a minimum purchase (say 10 or 20) on
cheap parts.
