| When a listing gets reported and action "from the above" not yet taken, highlight
that listing (in-store) in red and/or place a WARNING Icon next to it.
This way potential buyers will be aware that there is potentially something wrong
with that listing, and pay some attention to the extended description (which
is usually the reason why listings get reported).
This would open the gates for abusive reporting, but it is possible to put some
safeguards for that if you really want.

This is exactly why this suggestion should not be implemented. I don't see
how you could have any safeguards for abuse. The whole reason reporting bad listings
exists is that such listings will be taken down more quickly when you allow anyone
to help identify them, and not just the few people with the authority to take
action.

It is not the reason I usually report listings. I report obvious scam shops.
It would be abused. If someone lists something cheaper than you, then you could
report it with an apparent genuine reason "no way they can sell this cheap" and
buyers are warned off their item and buy yours instead.
It is better that items reported are not hindered in any way until an admin looks
at them and decides what to do.
Even if you had a warning flag turned on if 10 people reported an item, it could
still be open to abuse.
