I would like sellers to have the option to add items to an order (buyer will
have to approve them, more or less like the item removal process).

Lately, I had multiple instances of (new) members asking to add or replace items
in their order after their order is submitted. I know it is not a difficult for
an experienced member to do, but it would be very user friendly for new buyers.

I had requests from: wanted to buy 4 tires, not just one, please add it to my
order.
Or someone new that orders a battery pack and motor that are not compatible,
when I let them know in the invoice, they ask me to replace the battery box,
with a one compatible with the motor.

Once again, I understand how easy it is to add parts to an order for anyone that
is familiar with the site and LEGO, but that would improve the buyer experience
a lot for the beginners.

Alternatively, it could be a link that shows all the items needed to be added
in a single page in the store.

Thanks,
CB

Just to avoid abuse from sellers throwing in a couple of unwanted parts (hey
they are in your order, so you ordered them): voted No.
It's pretty easy to reserve items for your buyer, lead them to their 'my
bricklink' page to quickly find the parts and add a batch to a running order.
Have done so numerous of times... just in the same way it is easy to send an
IRR when the buyer changes his mind or when you discussed something that wouldn't
fit.
It just takes a bit of communication with a buyer and a little guidance (and
it will serve hthe buyers future runnings), it causes less problems then having
sellers 'add' stuff to an order, which *may* lead to discussions between
buyer and seller.

I get the same kind of inquiries mainly from newer members. As I see it, it is
a problem with the Bricklink UI. The UI should be the guidance for the buyer.

I think that changing the Bricklink UI for adding to an order would be better.
When a buyer enters a store in which he already has an open order, a window should
pop up with a message with the open order number, and that any items added to
the shopping cart would be added to his order. A similar message should be displayed
prior to check out. On the orders page, there could also be a symbol (for example
"+") right after the order number for any order that can be added to.

The whole idea of online shopping is that the buyer does the shopping.

What you are describing already exists because the buyer can have their order
window open on their browser and can have the seller's store open in another
window or tab as well and swap between the two at will.

I do not think that buyers should automatically add shopping cart contents
to an existing order, besides if the order is in an open status, this already
happens automatically as a batch addition when the Submit Order button is pressed.
If there's an open order with a seller you've already ordered something
from, BrickLink will automatically find it and add your shopping cart contents
to that order.

Cheers ...

Hi Geoffrey,

No, it does not exist. I did not ask for any new functionality just that there
is feedback that makes a buyer aware what will happen when the buyer enters a
store with an open order.

I'm aware that it is an existing Bricklink feature that items added to a
shopping cart are automatically added to an open order. Some buyers do not know
this, and it appears to be very confusing for some buyers. I asked for changes
to the Bricklink UI in the form of displayed text or symbols that tells the buyer
what will happen or just something self explanatory so there is less confusion.

Buyers have either requested that I add items to their order or asked me to merge
two orders. Some have even thanked me for merging their orders. They do not understand
that it happens automatically at check out.

A link to the store is displayed in every order detail page.
When checking out it already says that items are added to order xxxxxxx if the
order status applies for additions.
How the ordering process works is written in the Buying Help & FAQ in *each*

I did not know that there is such a text at check out, and I don't know how
clear this message is. In any case a buyer should be made aware as soon as he/she
enters a store what will happen at check out if there is an open order in the
store.

How the ordering process works is written in the Buying Help & FAQ in *each*
store and in the New User Tutorial in the general help.
What more do you need?

I need what buyers need. A more easy to use, and more or less self explanatory
interface with minimal need to read a tutorial. There shouldn't be any need
for a buyer to ask a seller to add items to an order if it was so obvious how
to do this. Buyers wouldn't ask if the interface was more self explanatory.

Buyers have either requested that I add items to their order or asked me to merge
two orders. Some have even thanked me for merging their orders. They do not understand
