| I am of course not a programmer.
But it would be nice to have a seller alert when you get an order.
I have had situations where I am out of town and I did not know someone had placed
an order.
I come back to find a complaint that I had not billed it in a few days when I
checked before I left.
Only happens every once and awhile but it would be nice to have an alert setup
that informed me of a sale in the store.
Have a great weekend.

I do get a notification by e-mail when someone places an order. Maybe this is
a setting you can change?

This already exists.
Select under selling 'Orders not yet invoiced' here:

What I would like to see is a mobile device push notification like I get with
the PayPal app. I always have my phone on me, but I do not get email updates
by phone because there would be too many less important things to filter out.
Push notifications are nice on the IPhone. You can now set to do not disturb
during bedtime hours, so it will only appear on your screen and not beep during
those times.
PayPal notifications have alerted me when I was almost out the door, able to
quickly print another label and get an order shipped out on Sat instead of Sun.

Depending on who your email provider is, you may be able to set something like
this up yourself.
With Gmail, for instance, you could set up conditional forwarding to a second
gmail address that only you know, and which you get notifications for on your
phone.

Good idea, yahoo mail (which I am using now) only allows forwarding and POP for
$20 a year with their "plus" service. might be time to switch...

| In lieu of this being implemented on BrickLink... perhaps this is something that
you could set up with email handling rules. For example you could have a rule
that when you receive a bricklink order email, your email client could send an
email that ends up as a text message on your phone. Each cell carrier is slightly
different in how this works... mine is US Cellular, and if you send an email
to ##########@email.uscc.net (where #'s is my cell number) it gets sent to me
as a text message. Verizon is ##########@vtext.com and so on.
I know this would be do-able for an Outlook Exchange email, you could do it in
outlook for a POP3 email but Outlook would need to be constantly running. I
have no idea if you can do with with Yahoo/Gmail/Hotmail, but my guess is they
all would let you set up similar rules.

Could you then assign a ring tone based on the sender?
So all your PayPal emails play a cash register chime?
I don't have that kind of a phone, I can't try it out myself.

I get every single order on my phone at the same speed that I get an order by
email or that I would get an order by push notification.
Now, if one doesn't have a phone that supports email (which is probably a few
small % now-a-days), then the push notifications probably aren't supported anyway.
If you have too much email that BL orders would get lost in flow, well, then
you have an organizational problem, it's not a lack of functionality on BL's
side.
Solution there would be to create another email address, make that your BL address
and then get the email to your phone from that address.
