Please make a forum rule that posts in all caps will be removed. This shoud
be considered because it is a known mannerism that all caps is shouting. Posts
by users in all caps should be taken as rude as many requests to those users
are ignored.

Perhaps if those people are reminded by admin that their manners are rude to
other people (since they are clearly ignoring requests from other users) by their
posts being deleted people will stop shouting (by using caps lock)

Thanks

Ken

No.

Just don't respond to them. (Or respond "please stop typing in all caps".) Same
for 1337 etc.

Voted No.

Where do we stop? Should posts with poor grammar and spelling also be removed?

Someone who is shouting cannot easily be ignored, someone typing in all caps
can easily be ignored.

Absolutely! I'll support this suggestion if improper syntax and punctuation are
also punished. Also, posts should clearly separate each divergent idea in a distinct
paragraph. Any post in the overly verbose and descriptive style of 19th century
French literature ought to be abolished.

I also suggest that our forum moderators minimally possess a PhD in some field
related to literature, and must have published a minimum of five papers in recognized
publications in the last ten years.

My mother types in all caps because it's too difficult for her to see the print
on the screen in lower case. It's a personal opinion, not a rule, to not use
caps.

I've tried teaching some people about keyboard shortcuts. I'm amazed at how
quickly the concept goes right over their heads, or they get it, but they keep
calling me to ask what the shortcuts are. And I'm just talking about copypasta,
not cut, or the myriad other shortcuts that exist in given programs that I DON'T
know about.

If you are using a mac it's FN + F5, otherwise it should work, unless the F5
key has been set to do another function, which I am not sure it that is possible
on a PC and on a Mac it already is set to something.

Dell PC with Logitech keyboard. F11 is full screen. I think it's always been
that way.

F5 is refresh, and very "refreshing" when visiting certain sites during heavy
traffic .

Well not everyone is as rich as you are.

Smok, Alternate (and free) way is to use cntl and mouse wheel up/down as necessary.
Pure keyboard method is cntl + or -

I just noticed that my apple keyboard has "Control" not cntl. Okay.

You don't need to be rich to be comfortable.
And vision is important, if she can't see the computer she probably can't drive

Yeah but problem is sometimes people view of "rich" is different. If my main
screen ever died I will be unable to replace it at all. I would be stuck on tiny
screen till then. Its lights is dying for well over a year now. I really don't
want to know how long its been on lol.

I wouldn't, but who knows she may have been retired from driving a while ago.

This seems too small a thing to be making a stink about it on a large level.
They are only letters on a screen.
Just reply to the offending post-ers if you feel they should know your opinions
on font choice.

Yes! Exactly! We have to allow for people that are using ASR 33's and dial-up
modems and upload their store inventory on punched paper tape. (There was a
point in my life where using punch cards *was* modernizing.

Perhaps if those people are reminded by admin that their manners are rude to

posts being deleted people will stop shouting (by using caps lock)

No.

I dont agree with this at all...

Although I know what you mean, it is disgusting the way people (mainly new users)
are treated on here (and other message boards) when THEY TYPE IN CAPITALS...
YES, you and I both know that in "internet speak" ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING, but there
are way more people in the world that are unaware of this, if you start policing
this by deleting posts... that is very unreasonable...

Maybe once you have removed the capitals, you shoud remove any posts with
spelling mistakes, and maybe you shoud remove any posts with errors in
grammar

If you really have a problem with people shouting at you on the internet.. TURN
DOWN YOUR SPEAKERS...

I fail to see the issue with typing in all caps. For some people it's the preferred
way of typing and most likely is easier for them to read and check what they
have written. Whenever I have to actually write something I prefer printing.
Writing in cursive is a pain in the a-- for me and I have a hell of time reading
somebody else's cursive. Many call typing in all caps yelling. This is false.
If you want to show excitment when writing most people use this "!". You're
making a mountian out of a mole hill. This is a non issue in my opinion.

How dare you, I find offensive the mere notion that a burger of this size could
be a veggie burger!

I've always found those being bothered by all caps might have some kind of mental
disorder. I mean, whatever. Unless you are actually hearing loud voices because
of it, in which case, you really ought to see a doctor.

It's obnoxious for sure but it's also a really good way to see that I DO NOT
want to read the post. If the post was in proper capitalization, I might end
up wasting my time reading it.

It's interesting to note that one of the recent posts IN ALL CAPS has so far
been viewed 776 times and has 130 replies to date. Maybe because people who
don't ignore messages in all caps realized the information it contained was important
enough they could accept the ALL CAPS.

That was probably much more the topic, than the user.

That user knows that it irritates some and they don't care. Which is why, I
don't typically reply to their messages.

I don't need a rule for it though.

Oh, the logic! It hurts my head.

Nevertheless, the OP was very annoying to read, and if not for being riveting,
I wouldn't have read the entire thread.

Voted No. It seems that we will eventually have rules about the rules here.
And maybe even rules about those rules.

Are you assuming someone besides you can see them? would you want someone else
to be able to see your PMs? Try the stoplist feature, that blocks people from
contacting you.

I am gonna have to vote 'NO' on this. If BrickLink bans CAPS in forum. Then
BrickLink should ban 'acronyms', such as TLG, TLC, AFOL, LOL, ROFL, BL, BURP,
and many more. And if banning 'CAPS' on BL forum..... you are banning the company
name and product name: LEGO. Which should be type in 'CAPS' anyway. If you
are truly a hardcore fan of LEGO.

(If you don't like all caps messages just ignore/delete it or send a nice note
to the person(s) to let them know.)

If someone is incontinent (impolite), should there be a rule that all wear diapers?
As a society we are overlegislating. Lets not do that here. Admin has real
issues to deal with.

Thanks

Ken

Easy enough to ignore.

Moving on ...

I've been on other forums where if someone posts in all caps, the entire text
is turned into lower case when posted. Why can't BrickLink implement something
like that? You'd lose the proper capitalization in the sentences, but all lower
case is still easier to read then all caps.
