| I think this would be fairly easy to implement, with many benefits.
Please add to location at the top of store landing page (where the flags are)
Either or both. Town/City and/or post/zip code.
It would be nice to know where - in (my case) England - you are, and you me!
For example if it was urgent and you knew I was in Worthing, you being in Brighton
(15miles) - you could likely get parts the same day.
Or if it was a set it would save on shipping
I can't see any reason why not - PLEASE consider

Although, to be fair, the postage is probably a lot cheaper than the train fares

I know there are quite a few members in this area, today it would have been really
handy as I needed a set in a hurry, the seller I chose just went out of town
after I placed the order, so my urgent is now at least 5days out!!

Couldn't I just create a fake BL account and place an order I never intend to
fulfill to determine the same information?
The suggestion would make it a bit easier to determine nearly equivalent info,
but I think it is a false argument to claim that it would invade upon privacy
any more so than the existing BrickLink structure.

If it is optional, OK. I would not want it on there for our store as we are a
mail order only business and I would not want anyone to assume they could pick
up locally. This is mostly but not inclusively (time also) due to insurance restrictions
- anyone trading from home beware, your domestic house insurance will likely
not cover against injury claims from customers visiting your home (expensive
if it happens).

I would never trust a stranger on that one. People have financial commitments,
if they loose income due to incapacity, they, their insurer, their spouse or
someone WILL sue you. It is one of those risks with a very low probability but
if it happens you are screwed! The sums involved a somewhat more than paying
for a lost box of Lego.

near you. How many times have you thought, "I wish I knew if any of these Ohio
sellers were near by so I could see if I could arrange a "pick-up" or mutual
public meeting place to avoid shipping costs."
I'm guessing that it is probably ...
1) A security / privacy issue as others mentioned (but maybe there could be an
"opt-in" or "opt-out" check box for those that wanted to partake.
2) Or a BL issue trying to circumvent easier ways of buying, selling, or trading
"outside" the system to avoid seller fees.
But I'm guessing that there would be MORE selling through BL if I knew that the
seller was just down the road - and I can save on shipping costs.

| I put in my store terms, pick up locally in Durham Region (which is essentially
a region of a few cities/towns to the east of Toronto)
now, someone would have to contact me and say that they are interested, where
am I, but if they want to go from the price guide, then that won't work.. They
must do some work.
I suppose the fee avoidance is possible, but... come on, there are plenty of
ways that two people can avoid fees if they so chose too.. But, my thoughts on
it are this.
It's 3%.. 3%, that's it.
BL is not sterile and distant like eBay..
I've had one or two people offer to let me take something out of my inventory
to save the fees and I decline, I'm not worried about 3%

I can say that it was a pleasure to meet these people and I was not kept waiting;
it would have been more cost effective on my end to just mail the parts. Twenty
minutes each way and gas.
And, I would not want people coming to my home.
I would and do continue to deliver parts personally for those that I have already
met. But, unless the order contained sets which are more expensive to ship, I
wouldn't start it with any other buyers; and having a delivery fee is just downright
ridiculous.

Agree, local postage is always cheaper than time and travel costs but if others
want to offer it, no problem but I would not want it shown on our store by the
system in a way that suggests we offer it. Graham's suggestion of using his splash
page IMO is a good way to go.

Yes but no, this is a suggestion.
Here's something more: - in this thread and many many others, there is a lot
of mention of criminal's, fraudster's and scammer's
You know if I just joined BL and went straight to the forum my conclusion drawn
from these "conversations" would be "stay away - they are all crooks"
Ive been active as a buyer and seller for 3 years ±, approx 1200 trades about
40% as buyer and 60% as seller
how many problems - real problems? - only one where I lost money.
2 TWO!!
What does that say? Less than 0.1% bad "apples" 99.9% good - no GREAT ones.
Having your town or post code showing doesn't mean you will imediately be stalked,
scammed or have someone pull an insurance trick on you!!
REALLY it doesn't.
In fact I would say Lego seems to attract a rather pleasant type of person, HONESTY
being one of the most obvious attributes!
SO where are all these ner-do-wells that seem so prevalent on Bricklink (according
to some)
Have I just been lucky? I don't think so, they don't exist!
Even eBay - the haven of the devil - When it comes to buying and selling Lego,
the vast majority are "nice" and honest too...
Think of the benefits instead of what "might" (very VERY unlikely) happen.

It would be nice to know where - in (my case) England - you are, and you me!
For example if it was urgent and you knew I was in Worthing, you being in Brighton
(15miles) - you could likely get parts the same day.
Or if it was a set it would save on shipping
I can't see any reason why not - PLEASE consider

I like it as an option. I would greatly appreciate knowing which sellers are
in my vicinity and willing to do a local pickup.
