| Hi,
I have a suggestion to the bricklink staff. Very often I find myself deciding
whether to buy or not a new set that is lacking minifigures for parting out purposes.
In deciding to do so I have to take the "part out value" and then manually check
the value of the minifigures and subtract it from the total.
It could save me a lot of time if in the dropdown menu there was a feature that
computed the value without including the minifigures. I hope you will consider
adding it!
Thanks

Minifigs aren't included in the Part Out Value, just parts.
See the note below this page http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp
"Part Out Value shows a total $ value of all regular items in the inventory of
a selected item based on price guide information if the contents of a set were
sold as individual parts. POV prices should not be confused with the price of
a set being sold as a whole."

Not true. There is an option to show the value as whole minifigs or the vlaue
as minifig parts (which often changes the PO value slightly). The value of the
figs or the parts that make them is, either way, inlcuded in the PO value.

That was my understanding too.. either way it would be a very small feature to
add but useful I think.

I agree. Without the feature the easiest way is to part out the set via the catalog
page and check the delete boxes for the figs before verifying the part out value.

In the meantime you can use the actual part out process to get to the value.
Just don't forget to stop one step before you actually do part out the set.
Just go to the Catalog page of a set, click 'Part out'. On the next page set
'Break this Set into: Parts and whole Minifigs' and 'Default Prices to' at one
of the sales averages than click 'Submit for Edit'. On the next page tick 'Delete'
next to the minifigs then click 'Verify Items'. Then you'll get the value of
the set without minifigs. Just don't click on 'Upload Items' by accident.
A bit clumsy but a lot faster than manually deducting the prices of minifigs.

Might be useful to have in BrickLink, but I use BrickStore for this. Just part
out the set in BrickStore, and set to 6-month prices.
You can then easily sort by value to quickly see the expensive pieces. You can
also see the total sales volume and total currently for sale by clicking on an
item. You can delete the minifigs to see the total otherwise. You can delete
the extra parts, you can part out individual figs, you can change the prices
for items which you know will sell at higher prices, or which you would list
at lower prices to move them faster, etc etc etc.
