| I'd like to be able to Search for "Newest parts added to the catalog" *minus*
all the stickered parts that are showing up in droves. I'm not looking for pages
of decorated parts, I'm looking for the new kinds of parts I haven't seen before
(except by examining LEGO catalog pictures or whatever).
There's no option for "Newest parts added to the catalog" on the Advanced search
page, where presumably I could filter them out with "-sticker" or somesuch.
And there's no option for filtering text where I can do the search for newest
parts added to the catalog.

You can try this link:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?sortBy=D&sortAsc=D&viewInv=Y&catType=P
and then search with the "-sticker*"

Yeow. Makes me realize I'd want to filter out "torso" as well. And it depends
on inventories, whereas I'm an old fashioned (*cough*formerCatMin*cough) guy
who prefers not to.

Hi,
after having clicked the "Newest parts added to the catalog" link you enter -sticker*
in the top left search field. The result will show all new items except those
with sticker(s) in the description.
Does this help?

Btw. the advanced search will also work with this term, you just need to set
the results sorted by "Date, Down".

That helps. It's funny that the stickered items come right back when you try
to filter out torsos. Leads to a tangent suggestion that one be able to search
within existing results. Unless that exists and I've forgotten how/where. Obviously
the "-" technique is buried in a Help here, but I'm looking for something "up
front" and "intuitive" for doing this.

Using "-sticker -stickers -torso" works,
I think this used to be very intuitive once

Not buried, just here:
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=29
You can also combine any search terms with "-" such as
-sticker* -torso -anything
You can also mix - and "" and * searches, for example going to the huge Torso
Assembly category
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=485
and searching for
"black hand*" -arms
will show you all torsos with different arms and at least one black hand
