Currently, when shopping, if you run across an item that needs to be reported
for one problem or another, it is a multi-step process to do so. I would like
to propose a simple "report this item" button be implemented so that simply clicking
it will take you to the "problem with item for sale" section, bring with it the
lot number from the item and when you have submitted the item, have a button
to bring you right back to where you left off so you can finish shopping.

Too often things do not get reported due to the current reporting process. A
one click reporting button with a simple return to previous page button would
be wonderful.

It could probably be abused, but hey, if there is a rule against abusing it (and
the user is logged for each report) with consequences, that looks like it could
be feasible.

voted yes, but I would want it to be moderators just like everything else, people
will make a fake account just to flag stuff so if there were a few moderators
that could flag stuff while shopping around I don't see a problem

Actually Ken,
everybody can report items when they are in violation of the listings ToS

people will make a fake account just to flag stuff

there is no need (see above line)

so if there were a few moderators that could flag stuff while shopping around I don't see a problem

Any item that gets reported is not removed at once, it is Admin who makes the
final call on that (and he only).

Items can be reported on this page:
http://www.bricklink.com/problemInventory.asp

What Kintzi is suggesting is a quick link towards that page (and a backwards
link to the page you were on, after reporting the item).

I understood this, thats why he suggested the button. And my suggestion was
that it is only available for a mod.
In my area there are a few scummy lego people and they do some rotten things
on craiglistmlike flag everything lego for sale or make a low ball offer, then
flag it so others wont see it, etc. There is also someone that posts lego for
sale and then arranges a time and cancels at the last minute.

Keep authority away from the users

But that's not the case here... When an item is reported, it stays available
until Admin reviews it. And I'm sure if someone tries to abuse the system (repeatly
report items that do comply with listing policy) sooner or later Admin
will take reactions on it.

But the mods/admins can't be everywere, you can't expect them to review every
item on sale
look at the number of sets/parts/figs/etc. It is simply impossible.
http://www.bricklink.com/browse.asp

That's why the site allows people to 'report' items...(but without harm, as it
stays available untill Admin takes the descision).

This suggestion changes nothing. It does not allow users any additional authority
nor does it allow sellers to remove other sellers listings just because they
feel like it. This suggestion would not see listings removed from view until
Admin reviews the report and
makes a decision.

It simply makes it easier to report those listings that a user believes may be
in breach of the rules. It is a positive suggestion that will further assist
Admin in keeping this a safe and reputable markeplace, for that reason, Ive voted
yes.

I like it, however, I would want to seller to be notified as well. They may
not be aware of the issue. It would be a great learning experience for the seller
as well as a way for all of us to tidy up the items for sale on Bricklink.

I would also want there to be a time for the seller to adjust the item's description
before admin comes down on them. I know some issues may need more immediate
attention, and others less immediate. That would have to be worked out with
the implementation.

Don't you think that including such a button or link on every single item for
sale would send the wrong message?

How would you react if you were at Wal-Mart, and there was a sign on every shelf
that said "please report us to the authorities if you believe we are doing something
unethical".

I know that I wouldn't want over two thousand links that say "Report this item"
in my store.
