I would like to suggest that you can choose to 'save' a cart on BL, and that
i kept for, eg a week. At the moment it isn't kept after you log off, so if I
want to place an order tomorrow, I either have to do it today or copy & paste
into word, then go to the trouble of finding all the items again. Thoughts?

Keep your browser open and it's saved (on your screen).
Why would someone want to keep items in a cart for a week?
Others are still able to buy the items in the cart.

It can remember your cart for a period of time. You can "save" your cart with
Brickstore, but remember that just because items are still in your cart, it doesn't
mean they are still in the store's inventory. Someone can buy them out of "your"
cart.

I once suggested that it hold my cart open until I close it, only deleting stuff
that others buy, and changing any prices the seller changes.

But I think suggestions like this are moot anyway.
More important suggestions go unimplemented.

As for the cart, BrickLink actually saves it longer than your client, but without
the client information it is hard to access, and not as useful. You can remove
from it, but not add to it. I am not sure you can check out with it (I haven't
tried this with a cart where the server knows about the cart, but the client
does not).
The item removal functionality, due to the amount of time the item has been in
the cart, is actually on the server. The cart expire functionality may be partially
on the server, but ties to information kept on the client.
For example, I can still access a very old cart, but it comes up as "Oops! there
was a problem processing your request: ..." due to empty cart. However, it
does bring up the store the cart was created in.

Here is a test worth running,
Create a cart,
Remove the cookie from your client.
Access the cart via the server (by saving the url of the cart and re-accessing
via that url).
Try to check out with it.

Why not ask the seller if they can hold your order open. You can make additions
in subsequent batches that will be added to the original order until marked paid/packed.

This also prevents someone from buying items in your cart but you wont be able
to empty the cart and will be obliged to complete the order.

Hi

I made a test in my shop/cart
(right click on cart and you'll get this link below)
http://www.bricklink.com/storeCart.asp?a=d&h=5322&b=-6258474

I closed my brower and it still works... (how long, don't know)
no my cart in my shop is empty but still see what was in my cart before closed
my browser.

I know there's an other url possible but forgot it...

I like this old suggestion.
I have an old computer, I sometimes start an order, get interupted by the kids,
the wife or whatever, when I come back the computer has somehow lost it's
internet connection - I don't know why and I don't know how to fix it
except with a full reformat and re-install. The only way to regain internet access
is to restart the computer. Of course, I loose my cart and even the store I was
on. I now make a print screen of the cart page before I leave the computer but
keeping the cart a bit longer.

Thank you for reading.

This idea has been discussed off and on for a long time.
There used to be real reasons why it wasn't feasible. And it can't be
added now.
But it might be a feature of the new BrickLink site.

You can use the BrickStore program to save a shopping cart. Doesn't help
if you lose connection by surprise, but it does if you have a minute to plan.
Save your cart, then re-upload that as a Wanted List when you are ready to shop
again. Not quite automatic, but much much faster searching manually.

That Brickstore functionality broke awhile ago.

What I used to do is to right click on the cart page section (not the store page)
and click "Save As"
Save that page as HTML, then when I already to go back, just open that HTML file
from my computer
Not automatic, I would like the feature of saving the cart, not as wanted list,
and it is ok if I lost some parts, I can add them later, but better than lose
the entire cart

Ideas come to you that you need parts within seconds, so losing those ideas should
not mean you lose your cart, computers should be here to help us and simplify
daily's tasks

Hope this got implemented

Not sure if that has been solved or not
i always struggle through opening carts in multiple stores then all these carts
go away after few days
So I came up with a small tool to convert these carts into Wish list
Use the Bricklinkcart tool from link below, it is basically an Excel macro that
can convert a cart (saved as htm page) into XML wish list that Bricklink can
import into wish list

let me know

Thanks
