| We just got a nice private email from another poster.
I would like to suggest if a person uses the Break a Store rule that negative
feedback not be allowed.
Thank you.

This has been suggested before and rejected for good reason. Individual shop
rules are too fluid and often too subjective. I don't think Admin wants to open
up yet another can of worms and get involved in these disputes. In addition,
some shop terms are not clear or are downright objectionable and unenforceable
(e.g. buyer waives right to leave feedback). Again, we should not ask Admin to
spend more time making these judgment calls.
It is impossible to review, remove or prevent all unwarranted feedback. In the
end, what a seller deems unjustified and undeserved is largely subjective. The
best way to deal with unwarranted feedback is to post a calm mature intelligent
reply to it. In fact, dealing with the occasional non-positive feedback is an
OPPORTUNITY to make yourself shine. I give much more value to a well-written
reply to non-positive feedback than I do to yet another positive. I NEVER read
a seller's positive feedback. But I ALWAYS read the non-positives they recieved
- and gave - as well as comments they post in reply. Some sellers have so impressed
me with their replies that I completely discounted the feedback in question and
had greater trust for the seller. That is worth more than 100 positives buried
away where no one reads them.

What Foster said.
In addition:
As a buyer I even find this kind of neg fb to be valuable
info about the poster. If I browse a store and discovers that
they have LEFT a lot of negs. that are counterbalanced by
good replies, I'll probably go shop somewhere else.
So if someone leaves you a neg and you poste a good reply,
it will backfire on him.

Of course when the store owners don't follow their own rules but then want to
enforce the rules on the customers when a problem arises from their own doing,
that's pretty lousy too.
