| When I send an email through BrickLink's system, I would like for the responder
to be able to reply ONLY through BL, and not to my email address.
We have an address we use strictly for BL business and therefore, rarely check
it because we read our messages on BL. On occasion, we miss an email from someone
because they hit reply from their inbox instead of replying through BL's system.
This also prevents a record of the correspondence on the order transaction details.
(We REALLY like that feature, BTW!)
Could this be accomplished by not including the sender's email address on correspondence
(when they receive it in their email inbox instead of reading it through BL)?
Instead could there be a link in the message with something like 'click here
to reply to this message' that would direct them back to BL?

I ask buyers to use to bricklink message system for this sort of reason, email
reliability and so on. Its particularly frustrating getting emails asking about
an order when the person emailing doesnt say in the email which order it is.
However I also think that we have to recognise, some buyers simply dont like
using the bricklink messaging system at all.
Perhaps then the better solution to your identified problem would be to offer
sellers a username@bricklink.com email inbox (or maybe a 2nd or sub domain to
avoid confusion like username@seller.bricklink.com or username@bricklinksellerinbox.com),
which they could opt to use as primary contact email (though would have to use
their own email for invoices and billing) with an interface based on the current
messaging system to minimise development time. I think it should of course be
strictly business only, no facebook notifications or such alike.

That doesnt work when you send a message to someone and they have it set to send
to email, then reply to the message from their email, which then sends to your
email.

Indeed I can see how that can be useful.

Would they pay for the order via the Bricklink messaging system also?

Hi,
if implemented, this should be an optional setting for the sender.
And it could be problematic as BL messages can't have attachments such as images.
For example, a seller been asked for images then can't send these.

I significantly prefer communication within my email account (Gmail) rather than
the BL messaging system. The main reasons I prefer email is the search functionality
and the essentially infinite archive capacity. To block the ability to reply
via email would be a terrible move in my opinion! I suppose an optional way to
contact back to the messaging system from their email wouldn't hurt though.

| I occasionally have to use email to respond to questions in BL. I cannot send
photos in my BL reply so must send to the customer's email address.
