thanks for the inspiration...
but a bit more refined.
Typically quite afew sellers are kind enough to offer discounts to forum readers
or mailing list subscribers etc etc.
I suggest an option to display a small box during the checkout process where
the buyer enters a code that automatically discounts from the order.
A bit like the tv ads where you get X% off a product by saying a particular word
when you call or by entering a discount code at checkout thats given out in the
advert.
Coding from the sellers store settings could be quite similar to creating a coupon,
but instead of entering a members username the seller needs to enter the code.
I suggest a limit of 3 codes can be used at any one time, leaving enough room
to offer different groups different discounts (forum readers, mailing list subscribers,
convention attendees, existing customers etc etc)
One key advantage is there is no risk of the seller forgetting to apply a discount
or applying the wrong discount.
Another is that some sellers send coupons out to people who have placed orders
with them, with this, they need only mention a code in shipping notice or better
yet have it printed on a little business card to send in orders for a more personal
touch.
thanks for considering

I thought of this as well.. I was thinking more of tiered overall purchases with
my suggestion but I like both.. Maybe we can have both... I vote yes...
