  Hello,

If you ended up on the XP site, then you didn't find the new Beta BrickLink,
you found the remnants of an old project from the previous management.

The LEGO team has made assurances that any upgrades or additions they make will
not include degrading or removing any features from our existing fabulous site.
And so far, they have been true to their word! They are working with the community
through various panels made up of our members. And they have been improving their
customer service and communication. Changes are still very slow, but I am quite
encouraged really.

I felt the same way as you when I first saw that XP site! Luckily, we won't
be getting stuck with it.

In Announce, roverman writes:
Never posted before. I am an AFOL who just likes to buy and build quietly in
the back ground.

However, I just logged into Bricklink, and experienced a 'new' Beta Bricklink
website. I am bringing this to the communities attention because I am genuinely
afraid for the future of Bricklink and its usability.

The Beta version had all the hallmarks of the official Lego website which IMO
is slow, laborious, unintuitive and too 'glam' for its own good. The
simple layout of old Bricklink had gone. The ability of being able to manipulate
searches and gain information about parts, sets, minifigs etc had gone. The Parts
section had been reduced to approx 30 catagories - for example there was no listing
for 'energy'. Rather than a list, it was all big square 'buttons'
so you had to scroll down to see all the 'button' heads despite there
only being 30. There were only rendered pictures of parts, no ability to choose
on older version of a part, as opposed to an updated version. No ability to list
by colour etc etc. I am worried this site is the future.

I had a sudden overwhelming feeling of Anheuser-Busch Budlite (I am from the
UK) moment as I waded around the incomprehensibility of the site. To me, it felt
like this version has not been created by anyone who understands the AFOL community,
or what AFOLS need from an after market site, unlike Bricklink's founder.
This, I feel, is a corporate venture to meet the Lego philosophy and direction.
This has the feel of a Disney disaster.

I am writing this just to try and make folk here aware. I came out of the site
after leaving feedback (yes, there was an option), but later logged back in to
see what I could salvage from my account before considering my options to use
other Lego parts sites, to find I was back on the original format (I was soooo
relieved).

Apologies if this comes across as over dramatic, but I love my hobby, and Bricklink
has been an essential part in undertaking this pursuit. For it to be manipulated
in such a way would at this stage, appear to severely curtail my ability to pursue
it as I have been.

Thank you.

So was the project officially cancelled? Why does it still exist?

has a new mold 3091 sold on pick-a-brick. The differences are
minor (new version on the right):

Inside octagonal hole is more clearly defined
The edge of the outside hole seems to be slightly thicker
The new mold is slightly texturized while the old mold is blank
The top is ugly

In fact, the new mold looks like a fake brick. There, I said it.

Please add this new mold or tell me to create a new part.

Honestly, neither of these compare to the original. Since they were making a
new mold anyway, it's too bad they didn't recreate the old one.

The newest one seems to have a more solid color though. If you hold them up to
the light, the older one (of these two) is very translucent.

  Dear BrickLink members,

Welcome back and thank you for your patience. We were down for longer than anyone
would have wanted. Now that we’re back up and running, we can share with you
what’s happened.

As many of you will know, we received a threat and ransom demand on Friday, November
3rd. We’d been aware of and actively managing some limited suspicious activity
since mid-October, with unauthorized sellers offering products at huge discounts
and fraudulently accepting payment from buyers.

As soon as we were aware of the potential escalation on November 3rd, we put
the site into maintenance mode out of an abundance of caution. We did this to
protect our members and keep complete control of the platform while investigating.

We found that a relatively small number of BrickLink accounts may have been accessed.
It is important to note that there is no evidence so far that our systems were
compromised.

At this stage we believe this was a ‘credential stuffing’ incident, where
someone obtains lists of usernames and passwords from a third party, often illegally,
and opportunistically tries to use them on a website.

Actions we’ve taken

Although we know that the BrickLink site was not breached, we've further
strengthened our security. We take the safety of BrickLink and our members very
seriously and will continue to step up security across the platform.

We’ve informed people where we have reason to believe that their accounts or
stores may have been impacted, and reminded members of ways they can make their
accounts safer and more secure by practicing good data security. Keep your systems
up-to-date with the latest patches, Use security software and create strong,
unique passwords for each website you use.

Again, we’re sorry for the interruption and inconvenience this has caused you.

If you have any questions or concerns, have a look at the FAQ for more details,
or reach out to customersupport@bricklink.com.

Many thanks,

Your BrickLink Team

Thank you for doing your due diligence. I'm grateful you decided to take
the site offline so you could do a proper incident response.

Is there any chance we could get TOTP 2FA and longer passwords?

I was just looking at this baseplate:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2552px6&in=S

It's marked as an alternate in Eldorado Fortress. Does anyone know why? Surely
this must be a mistake.

It seems to be very close to fitting, but mine don't snap down all the way
around. I worry that if I force it, I'll end up breaking the round plate.

Has anyone used these as lids for large barrels, and if so, is there a trick
to getting them all the way down?

Thanks,
David

I tried right now. It fits, but the round plate is clearly bending.

Nicolas

You did what I could not! If the plate bends when it's all the way on the
barrel, I think I won't use the 4X4 plates.

Thanks,
David

This would be a great candidate for a redesign to make it in system. It was a
great part. I wish they still made them.

  Hi,

The dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

Please search the forum for your question before posting a new one (the search
box is in the very dark grey banner).
There’s indexes of known bugs and suggestions that you can browse first:
Studio: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5579
PartDesigner: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5589

There’s a subforum, aptly named “Studio Parts,” to ask for parts: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=6
And there’s a nice “I can’t find this part” FAQ https://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6368

For this particular part, AFAIK, it’s not yet in LDraw, so asking on the LDraw
forums would be the best solution: https://forums.ldraw.org/

Thanks! I didn't know there was a second forum on this site. I also didn't
even know that Studio uses LDraw models. I guess that makes sense! I just posted
my request there. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

Hi,

Is there any way to get the series 24 space baby into Studio? I see that you
can add custom decals to parts, but the hands on the standard baby are yellow,
and I don't know how to create or import the dual molded head piece. Does
anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks!

Hello. I have (2) part 4175 in a solid cream color. They both are uniform in

came from a large 4 pound lot of various vintage parts to modern parts. They
don't look yellowed to me compared to a white paper plate. Is this a undocumented
color in the part by Lego?

Also I have a darker variation light gray air tanks which are pretty cool.

I haven't seen the darker gray air tanks, but I know that the original ones
used a different type of plastic. I remember seeing yellow ones in the past and
they are more translucent. They look much different from standard yellow. I suspect
your gray tanks are made of the same material.

  Dear BrickLink members,

A report has recently surfaced of a possible data breach on our website, BrickLink.com.
We can assure you, our members, that we have seen no evidence of any breach of
our systems and have no reason to believe that the data you entrust us with has
been compromised.

A short while ago, we were approached by a third party who offered their services
to fix several potential security loopholes they had identified. This third party
is not one of our suppliers and we did not request them to provide any analysis
or diagnosis of our systems.

When we did not engage the services of this third party, they apparently released
this “news” that a security breach could have happened on our site. Whereas it
is true that there is always a small possibility that data could be compromised
on any site, we feel this report unfairly portrays our website as unsafe.

We have invested substantially in our security system and are confident in its
ability to keep your data safe. In addition, we strictly follow the LEGO Group
standards for GDPR compliance and other legal requirements regarding the data
of our users.

Thanks for you attention, and please feel free to contact the Help Desk with
any questions you might have.

The BrickLink Team

That's not how this works. A security researcher isn't a "supplier."
The correct response when someone privately discloses a vulnerability is to say
thank you and fix it immediately. Reading between the lines here, it sounds like
Lego's response was simply to ignore them. The standard practice in the industry
is to publicly disclose vulnerabilities if the company doesn't respond because
sometimes (and apparently in this case) bad publicity is the only way to get
things fixed.

We owe a debt to security researchers for finding these vulnerabilities before
the bad guys do. Your post is incredibly disrespectful to the people who keep
us safe. If they hadn't reported this, someone else could have abused it.

Quite frankly, this is one of the worst responses I've ever seen to a security
finding. I expect more from The Lego Group.

Hi,

I just reopened my store. I'd like to sell it all as quickly as possible.
If anyone is interested in my inventory (or a section of it), shoot me an offer.

I just listed lots of palm trees, cannons (with rare brown wheels), and 78 green
classic space minifigures.

Thanks!

I have 78 of these:

Minifig No: idea007 Name: Classic Space - Green with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet with Visor (Pete)
*
idea007 (Inv) Classic Space - Green with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet with Visor (Pete)

They're all brand new. They're averaging $14 on Bricklink. I'm not
sure I have the patience to wait for them all to sell at that price. If you're
interested in them, please make me a fair offer, then I'll send you the password
to enter my store.

Thanks!
