How to save these check boxes so they default? That is how I understood the
question.

You are right - missed that. Ignore my response.

If you would like a copy of the pdf let us know and we will be happy to send

Is there any way to update "remarks" via Mass-update? I cant seem to get my remarks
to update with it.

I have taken a moment to try this and it does not work using Mass update - the
remarks field is not included in the file it sends to Bricklink. This could be
because there were problems over this field a while ago and changes have been
made which Brickstock doesn't know about. I will message Patrick and see
if he can help.

One more test run. If you use the mass upload command it works and takes the
remarks field across. Have now reported this to the current author as a bug and
will wait to hear back from him.

NOt sure that works or not - will look at it later today and get back to you.
If it doesn't work and you are doing everything correctly then I can report
it to Patrick as a bug .

So you are importing your inventory into Brickstock and updating the remarks
field and then using mass update in the bottom box to get it to update the remarks
field?

There is no concatenate remarks for this option, so it might not be something
that will work that way.

You certainly can do it (I Believe) from mass upload (the top box)

to a degree and thank you to Russell for coming to the forum with that.

Now lets see if we can tempt him to come to the forum about the next issue to
unfold - Bricklink express or XP or whatever you are going to call it.

It was announced here by MP, the head of development and acting CEO:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BafLDCzqNEo&feature=youtu.be&t=1h52m22s

Nothing more has been heard about it other than a brief comment, again by Russell
when he responded to a thread about creating a Pro version of Brickstock. See
beloew:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1127990

We now hear through the grapevine that the planned release for Phase 2 is likely
to be at the end of the yeqar and that will be followed by Sellers tools, which
was removed from the roadmap a little while ago without any explanation.

So the questions are simple. If you can comment, please do, if not well no change
to normal:

1. Will XP be opt in/Opt out ?
2. Will it still require Instant checkout and PP for marketplaces
3. How will its design work with large parts stores
4. If it is to be triggered away from Bricklink e.g. via Google search or something
similar will buyers still have to be registered to buy.
5. Is the Phase 2 release on time?
6. As it is in Phase 2 of its development can you provide us with any more detail
as to how it will work. MP had some slides in his presentation but that was about
a year ago and I am sure things have changed.

We understand the logic behind the decision to bring this feature to the site
as it could bring more revenue and a different market audience to some on the
site, although we would like to see some backup data to that to consider its
worth and hear a plausible argument as to how it will aid parts stores.

Most stores on this site have two operating modes - proactive and reactive. The
information above would help most of us on the proactive side as we plan for
the short and medium term (After all some of us are businesses - just like Bricklink).
Being limited to rumours and gossip is not the best way to plan your business
activities and I am sure most will agree with that.

So Russell or whoever, feel free to comment and get this matter out into the
open - let it be discussed debated, argued, praised or what have you. If it is
only 2 to 3 months away now would be a good time to get it all out in the open.

Putting the topic aside, I appreciate how you 'bait' Russell to come
out to play with you. I really do!

As I've said to only one other BL member, Foster; whether I agree with you
or not, I do enjoy the way you say it.

Russell may respond to you. But know that his allotted hours are consumed with
running the site. What I do know, is that he has respect for you and your efforts.

BTW, when you post is it Bill, or? My point is, it lends more weight when you
throw yourself into it! More gravitas when you're willing to attach your
name

Here's my name,
Cory

HI there

I do know your name. mine is Bill but normally when posting I am speaking for
the team at CalsBricks, hence the use of the store name. It also acts a little
like publicity but that wasn't deliberate - it is just a by product.

Baiting Russell as you mentioned is also very deliberate. It appears to get answers
(not always) but sometimes on important topics and to us this is a very important
topic. MP called it the future of Bricklink and that is very important to us
having invested what we have into this venture.

Well, Bill, you've got your response from Russell. Go for it!

-Cory (no team here)

We have seen it and responded thanking him for taking the time and clearing up
some matters. Of course there are still more questions than answers but we hae
at least heard back from them. Always worth a try.

as to how it will work. MP had some slides in his presentation but that was about
a year ago and I am sure things have changed.

Here you go:

1. Yes. The classic site will run in parallel to XP.

Thank you - that clears that up.

2. That was the idea at first, but I believe a provision has been made for non-instant
buying.

We will wait to hear more about that when the time arrives.

3. The same as with any other stores. There is no difference.

That differs from the guidance that MP gave at Brickworld when he suggested a
more Amazon/Ebay model - so again we will have to wait and see on that.

4. Buyers must be registered on our system to buy. No logging in with Google,
for example.

Okay that clears that up - thank you.

5. No. The only thing we know about the timing of Phase 2 is that it won't
happen until after Phase 1 is implemented. And Phase 1 is very late.

Okay - that differs from the rumours we heard so thank you for that. We were
aware from your earlier post that March had been talked about for P1 release
- but as you say that is now very late.

6. We haven't started on phase 2 at all, except to map out generally what
features we want. At this point, the most we can say is that it will address
"sellers' tools".

Not sure I understand this one - sellers tools is for XP and not the classic
site? That would not be as helpful as it should be as the xp concept introduced
by MP had not met with enormous enthusiasm from the stores we are in contact
with - but of course time will tell what happens there.

So Russell or whoever, feel free to comment and get this matter out into the
open - let it be discussed debated, argued, praised or what have you. If it is

The main obstacle to us sharing information about XP at the moment is that the
immediate future of ADP is still unknown. Until that is settled, any real talk
about an XP release is really only talk. We are working on it and many parts
could be turned on tomorrow, but our staff's involvement in ADP this year
effectively pushed XP out of the picture.

We don't want to publicly lay out a production schedule for XP and then a
few weeks later have to retract it because we've started another round of
ADP. Not to say that the two programs could not co-exist, but we would need to
make some major changes to our staff and overall goals as a company in order
to pull that off. Right now we are in a holding pattern.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this 'baiting' as popsicle
calls it. There are tons more questions that we all have but we will leave those
for now and wait for further announcements.

Bring the business side of the site into the 21st century, please - IC doesn't
work for all and for those that do not use it this is a real pain and totally
unnecessary.

That is probably why they will never do anything about it - it is another push
for non-IC adopters to adopt IC.

Sorry 1 more thing coming from someone who has spent a great many years in the
software development world. Software is normally designed to suit end users and
it is normally designed and developed in conjunction with them. That hasn't
happened here at Bricklink, On the other hand gaming software often comes from
the developers themselves rather than the end user - and quite often that works.
But when it comes to serious applications it never does unless the developers
have a rock solid systems spec which has been put together by a quality experienced
systems analyst - again doesn't happen here or at least it does not appear
so. When was the first, or last time as a seller or buyer you were asked what
you wanted to see in the software?

There is a simple answer to that - make it applicable for all regions - redesign
it so those of us who use multiple boxes (3 large letter styles, and 11 small
parcel styles) do not have to set up a delivery method for each of those across
all boxes. 14 first class; 14 first class confirmed; 14 2nd class confirmed;
14 next day delivery; 14 air mail; 14 air mail confirmed. Good grief - all day
every day just setting up delivery methods and the design of that is totally
flawed - IC should have been regionalised to accommodate not just weight systems
but weight and volume systems. Yes I know we could try and reduce boxes but that
is not convenient for us nor our customers. We don't send out half full boxes.
In addition if the design had been better it would have allowed them to make
the simple changes to accommodate the changes in the US postal system where everything
is being done by workaround.

Forcing people to use a feature is a non-starter - usage should be up to the
individual not a method which doesn't work 100% of the time and also has
over 40,000 items in its catalogue without dimensions. but you are probably right
- yet another wonderful idea just like pp for marketplaces, dropping paypal offsite
- again to force IC. NO matter what the take-up is in real terms the feature
needs re-thinking.

What next force members to use their new Order detail page ; or their new My
BL page -- you must now use Stud.io to design anything. Oh and lest we forget
you must use the new wanted list (but after clamour we will leave the classic
one available, and we will reinstate paypal offsite).

I had enough of these in the last few weeks that waiting 2 full weeks is painful
to complete them.

I don't mind the 1 week to pay before it is started. But another full 7 days
to complete the NPB is not necessary.

I would propose 3 additional days and that is it. Let us get our stock back
in our stores to sell to someone else instead of being held at our will for 14
full days when 10 is plenty enough.

I can't be the only one that feels this way and 14 days might have worked
10-15 years ago when access to Smart-Phones wasn't as widespread, but these
days, you can't go far without having the ability to respond. Thanks

This is exactly why I just cancel the order and never file NPB. It just takes
two long. 2 weeks is insane. It shouldn't take a week to pay. It shouldn't
take more than a few days to pay, if you don't have the money don't order
stuff, pretty simple. I know a lot of buyers are getting let off the hook by
this but I don't have the time or patience and I don't want my inventory
constantly tied up for a fortnight. I just cancel the order ban the buyer and
move on.

Once again a constant thread and everyone agrees with it except Bricklink for
some strange reason. Why should we have to let our inventory be tied up for two
weeks or longer when someone isn't going to pay for their order.

Bring the business side of the site into the 21st century, please - IC doesn't
work for all and for those that do not use it this is a real pain and totally
unnecessary.

It would be great if I could change the time zone on BrickLink. Maybe not the
most necessary feature, but it feels like it wouldn't be that difficult of
a thing to implement.

It isn't and this has been around since day 1. Nothing has ever been done
about it.

Diana

You mean on paypal's address settings when you pay? If so, yes.

If you try to change it whilst paying with paypal, a message pops up to say that
the address detail is from the store and that it must be changed by the store
concerned.

It would appear that sellers cannot change the address, and buyers would have
to cancel the order to effect a change in address. Merely changing it in BL after
the order has been placed does not work.

HTH

Hi Jean

If you alter the address when placing the order it works, but as I said do not
mark change this to default. After the order has been raised it cannot be changed
via Bricklink.

The design was flawed from the beginning and has stayed that way ever since they
released the feature.

We have multiple paypal address and 2 addresses for Bricklink activities so we
go through this on an order by order basis. If you create a temporary address
at checkout which coincides with a valid Paypal address it works.

From our testing in the very beginning the Bricklink address and Paypal address
have to be the same, which in our opinion is flawed, but that has never been
changed. If you have multiple paypal addresses and want to use a different one
to the Bricklink one you have to make a temporary change to the Bricklink one
but do not choose the option to overwrite - just use it as a one off.

The process should use the Paypal address as default not the Bricklink as Paypal
is the one that offers seller/buyer protection, not Bricklink.

Reported as a bug from day 1 and ignored.

Gods, I'm afraid to ask. What is Bricklink Express?

according to the head of development and acting ceo it is the future of Bricklink.
it is been described as an amazon/eBay business model. it will probably work
via Google search and is really aimed at the 'soccer moms' who want a
set for little Johnny. there is no real detail available other than the Brickworld
presentation last year.

there are countless questions about it but no answers from BL and no dialogue.
things might have changed but we doubt it

if anyone knows any more happy to hear from you

For those of you who use Brickstock and have questions about how to update your
inventory, I have produced a short guide (with screenshots) to clarify the situation.

If you would like a copy of the pdf let us know and we will be happy to send
it on, if not you can use the link below to review it.

Beyond the two brands; AFOL Designer Program and BrickArms, are there currently
any other brands under the umbrella search option All Brands?

What little I know of the timeline-of-events, was that the All Brands
listing option was put into place first, allowing BrickArms an in, onto BL’s
platform. I remember Jaclyn's announcement: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1071320

Entirely possible I've got it all wrong, as clueless to site updates as I
feel like most of the time

Was folding BrickArms into BL the original intent for the adding of the All
Brands
listing option? Or was the option's genesis to be an umbrella
term for the planned introduction of other brands?

Are there plans or thoughts of adding more brands? Should there be? (I've
no opinion on this last question, just curious of what others think)

Maybe there’s a mission statement of sorts, that spell out these points? If so,
direction to it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cory

I believe "all brands" as been there from the beginning.

I don't remember it "being there from the beginning".

Below is a link to Jaclyn's introduction to the idea post, and sandbox. This
is well before her announcement of the implementation. I've supplied a screenshot
of some key wording within her very nicely worded intro. to the plan
