There are at least 2 different versions of instructions for this set. The differences
for the second version are indicated in this inventory in the Alternate Items
section with Match ID 99.
Quick overview of redesign: A dark gray 2 x 2 plate with pin underneath and a
blue 2 x 2 round plate are added to each of the machine's six legs.

Nope, not sure at all!

This part was added as an extra in 2010. Unfortunately, the Inventory Change
Requests from back then were not saved indefinitely in the forums like they are
today, so we have no information as to why this change was asked for or approved.

I honestly can't see a reason for it being in there.

Our guidelines for Extras in an inventory state:

Removing or Changing Extra Items - Extra parts can vary depending on when
and where a set was manufactured, meaning that some new sets may include them
and others may not. The quantity of these extra parts can also vary. Extra parts
are typically not removed or reduced in quantity unless it can be determined
that they were originally added or increased in error.

So, to make a decision concerning whether to remove this as an extra part, I
have to somehow determine if it was originally added in error. That is going
to be tough to do after nine years removed from the actual change being made.

Any ideas on how you would proceed with this, Paul?

But wouldn't this set have been produced at least for a few years, possibly
overlapping the introduction of part 3705b?

The only way to be sure would be to ask the person who added it in the first
place. But even they might not remember it after so many years.

I guess we could try that route.

Part 3705b first appeared as a regular part in sets in 1986 according to our
catalog. So it seems strange that it appeared as an extra part in another set
two years before that. Based on that it seems that a mistake was probably made
when adding this extra.

The only way to be sure would be to ask the person who added it in the first
place. But even they might not remember it after so many years.

This request will be rejected.

Yes they are factory pre-assembled wheels.

The first ones that came out were glued or pressed together.
Same for the 3464c02 and 4624c01 and 4624c02.
(from 1984-85 till I think begin 90s)
Also same for the first 6015 type with the 6014a.

The rubber is also harder, the assembles are softer in rubber.

Were these only glued in certain regions? This time frame was the heyday of my
LEGO collecting as a child, but I can't ever recall seeing glued wheels (and
I took *everything* apart). I only ever bought sets from the US though.

Do you happen to recall any specific sets that would have had glued wheels? I
have a ton of sealed sets from this era and would like to try and see if any
of them might be glued.

They came assembled, that's for sure.
As I wrote: 'glued or pressed'

I had a lot 6015+6014a and I took them apart and there was a residue of glue
on them.
(6015+6014a begin 90s)

For the small wheel and tyre, when it's a harder plastic you can't remove
them.
Start begin half 80s when this new type wheel came out.

Well, the first train that looked like a train and had tracks to roll on.
There were Duplo connecting cars before 1980. Even without tracks, connected
cars very much spell train to a 2-year-old

The main inventory correctly states that there are 2x of the Modified 1 x 2 with Mini Blaster / Shooter, yet indicates that it comes with 3x of the Weapon Trigger for Gun, Mini Blaster / Shooter. While it is true that there are 3x of the triggers, 1x of them is an "extra", which is correctly stated in the Extra Items section of the inventory page. The main inventory should only have 2x of each of the blaster and trigger.

The official parts list in the instructions lists 3x of the trigger, and the
official part count for the set is 78 pieces. To have an official part count
of 78 pieces, all three of the triggers must be included in the Regular Items
section.

All of this fits with the definition of what goes in the Regular Items section
of an inventory: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562

"Regular Items - Parts required to build the main model and any secondary
models plus any other parts on the official parts list. In the absence
of an official parts list, the official parts count, the instructions, and/or
images on the packaging are used to determine as closely as possible the contents
of this section."

I highlighted the relevant section in italics.

Because the inventory is correct, this request will be rejected.

It's correct. Our other Inventory Admin is the one who inventoried it.

I confirm it once again. I had 4 triggers when opened it

But only two were
used in built, one is always axtra so I was puzzled that time what to do with
this fourth one

That time I added it as second extra and there was a note
about it that in parts list is three of them (now note is deleted). Then Robert
added this new definition and set was adjusted to match parts count on box

So you have whole history of it.
This whole year was strange with Microfigters triggers on parts lists and extra
one included

Pictures taken by owner A. Krieger.
Box was MISB and opened by A. Krieger and stick already 1 sticker on the 1x2
brick then take pictures from other bags and parts.

Box and instructions says 1980. Minifigs are the first torso types (toothless)
and came with the heads on the torso.

Catalog is from 1986 =

I can see the plates with clip lights in the images you posted, but I don't
see the plates with clips anywhere. Do you have a better image for that request?

Here there are.

Also included photos of
- 3040 Yellow Slope 45 2 x 1
(I believe the early releases of this set in 1980 and maybe 1981 came with slopes
without bottom tube)
- 3002old Black Brick 2 x 3 without Cross Supports
which confirms that these bricks were still (most likely) in production in 1986
(or 1987?).

On that picture we can also have a good view on the black 2x2 inverted slope,
the toothless one (no supports), at that time (1986-87) this slopes have the
newer inside = supports.

I also believe the 3040 slope came in the first runs with the without bottom
tube. But I got my set later (think 82 or 83) and I found the with type. (I put
the flame stickers on my slopes - and the only I got in my 80s collection).

And to say it with Gary Istok's words: Lego never threw anything away

were first produced in 1985.

It looks like that the Brazilian market started later and brought a few sets
that were no longer available to us on the market. The catalog says it all, no?

Strange about the -b types but the MF's still the old type and what about
the other parts, did some came already with the partnrs on? Or some still with
the moulding pip on side? We have still a lot of questions.

They are an exception, only "orphaned" parts were added to this inventory as
alternates, see here

Brickset has the part total listed as 3096, but that could be wrong. Also, Stefaan
checked the set against sealed set contents but only made one change (to add
an alternate). Hmmmm...

Hi

I bought this box here on BL when the auctions were still alive (was in 2008).

I did a part out (all parts in my set no longer the old grey but the new grey),
got a lot of work ~never understood why no 10030-2 was created with the new grey~

Wasn't it the case that there were found copies of this set with mixed colors
in seald set. That could be the reason. (The note says about it)

Still a few left over parts and believe it or not but did not see that alternate
part at that time, so found it in 2014 and did the change

extras etc.?

Yes, there was also a mix with the old and new grey (but my set came with the
new grey (for dark and light).

Can't help with the part count/levers count, pins etc... only a few parts
from this set in my stockroom (like the blue inverted slops

)

But why were (a few) LBG parts added as alternate parts?
