May want a second opinion on this change, but in the sets I parted out the slopes are the exact same hue as the Metallic Silver pin joiners forming the front fender.

I would like to see an improvement to wanted lists - when browsing by store,
it would be nice to see what wanted list each of the parts is from and also to
be able to sort by wanted list.

Already possible, see My display options, here http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp

Yes, check the long-winded box that says:
Show Multiple Wanted Selection Lists as Multiple Options in Stores and My Wanted
Items By Shop

It would also be nice to be able to rate wanted
lists by importance so that you can focus on one list more than others.

Name or number the lists by priority.

Definitely a must. Also create a list called "Ordered" or something and move
the items you have ordered to it, rather than deleting them.

  Additionally,
it would be nice to indicate both suppressed parts (ones that you have unchecked
before searching by store) and also indicate parts that may have restrictions
on them based on wanted list - ie price, quantity. That way when you are buying
from a store, you can see if they have the part but it is outside of the search
criteria (too expensive, short desired quantity).

This too is possible: look to the left under the search bar in a store and click
the link that says "Show all items..." That link will show the items but ignore
your criteria of price or quantity.

I am trying to note any of these improvements as I run into them.

Thoughts?

Voted yes. Although I can see from the upload details page which lots are not
being consolidated and thus for which ones notifications will be sent, the ability
to easily see these lots all together is something I've wanted. Also high
on my list of "wants" is the ability to search my inventory for lots I do not
have from a set. Alas...

Voted yes. Not trying to put more work on the CAs, as I can kind of understand
how sending "claim denied" messages could be onerous, and potentially the start
of a tiresome back and forth, which I'm guessing is why it is never done.
But the more transparency and communication the better for everyone. Perhaps
we could promote a CA to cs_catalog.

Have you familiarized yourself with how the Wanted List works?

http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?topicID=4

Perhaps the most important thing to know after creating a Wanted List (or several
of them, in fact) is to then use the By Shop tab and sort by Lots (Unique). If
you create multiple Wanted Lists you will want to go into your Settings (when
under the Wanted tab) and check the hilariously long-winded box that says " Show
Multiple Wanted Selection Lists as Multiple Options in Stores and My Wanted Items
By Shop."

If you do continue to have questions, this is the right place to ask. "Bricklinking"
does have a steep learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it's not
such an onerous process.

The link at the bottom of the order screen, "Consolidate Batches," isn't

Not IA related, but it probably would not hurt if Bricklink created some sort
of incentive system for regular submitters like Niklyn or jennifer. At times
they have practically kept the new set inventory/minifig inventory process going
and I think it would be reasonable to reward those folks!

Maybe it's just me, but for every inventory I've reserved and submitted,
the very first thing I did was add the new parts or minifigs (with photos)
to the Catalog. Seems like a self-evident requirement. I do like the suggestion
to allow pending items to be added to an inventory. If there are ways to facilitate
their approval, for instance by making it easier to see which items lack photos
so others can jump in, all the better. However, I also think that if one is going
to take on the task of catalog/inventory work, tools of the trade (camera, scanner,
computer...) ought to be presumed. In other words, if you reserve an inventory
it is your responsibility to get the new items and photos added, and in a fairly
timely manner. Which brings me to my next point.

Reserved items should have a built in detonator. A week goes by, a notice (ala
NPB) pops up asking you to hold your reserve or unreserve it; if nothing happens,
24 hours later it gets released automatically.

As far as the notes accompanying an inventory and the ability to modify pending
inventories, aren't those two areas where glitches still linger? Sort of
like the error message you get when doing an inventory change request, even though
the change goes through? But yes, it would certainly be helpful if submitters
and admins had a better method of communication.

In Suggestions, SimplyBricks writes:
I have also requested that a flag be added to inventory submissions form to show
whether the inventory is complete or incomplete and if incomplete then the submitter
MUST add information to the notes field detailing why it is incomplete and if
they are still working on it.

Such a flag would be set by the submitter or admin? From what Nikilyn has told
me, "back in the day" one could start an inventory and simply include a note
like "still working..." at the end to let the admins know more was coming, then
change the notes when finished. So if a return to this is being considered that's
fantastic. Although the idea of submitting a partial inventory gives me shivers.
Of course I haven't braved the 1000+ piece sets. Yet.

Incomplete entries will automatically be disabled from being approved until flagged
as complete.

Inventories with items pending approval into the catalog will automatically be
flagged as incomplete.

That sounds great, nice and logical. Keep us posted!

Posting actual photos for every set would be a major hassle and I love the fact
that BL does not require it. However if you asked for a photo I would gladly
provide it. If you have encountered a seller who is not willing then I would
simply bypass that particular seller. I don't think in most cases they are trying
to avoid showing you something, but rather for some the hassle is too great,
they're not set up for it, not very technologically savvy, etc. Especially for
used sets: rather than being built they are often just inventoried and bagged
for storage, so a photo would just show you parts in a bag. But again here, I
had a 0 feedback buyer ask me for photos of a used set to see the condition of
the parts, I obliged, and he purchased!
