Hi everybody,

Would it be possible to keep Bricklink 2.0 compatible or able to work with the
program Brickstore. I find it very useful to be able to download my orders. Sice
they get purged after 6 month, it is the only way to keep them forever.

Thank you for reading.

Best regards,

Olivier

I am not sure these have all been covered completely before or it may have
been in several different items/issues, but we would like to see the following
improvements in the next release of Bricklink.

1. Improve the colour samples to include larger swatches, Lego Colour Name; Pantone;
CMYK, RGB. It might even help to include the Peeron Colour name. Colours are
very important to lots of people and they also have a direct bearing on pricing
(unlike Lego)
2. Improve the images in the catalogue both small and large. Remove sketches
and where there are subtle differences between parts e.g. ....a and ....b make
it clear what those are (in photos of course).
3. Major issue with tire and wheel identifications. The relationship idea helps
somewhat as does the visual wheel thing, but neither are complete and they are
not kept up to date. Where Lego has a part number fine, but many do not or it
is impossible to read. Considering Lego are the world's largest tire manufacturer
we should do better here.
4. Our age old - please allow multiple users to have access to the stores. The
larger the store, the more likely there is more than one person dealing with
it and all of the individuals need to be able to get in with different permissions,
as required. We are based in two locations and share access to the store at both.
That is not ideal, as you can imagine, and of course with only one login everyone
can do everything.

There are many. many more itmes to be dealt with but the suggestion forum does
not seem to be the best place to get things moving.

Hi Everyone,

I know that a lot of what's being suggested is already implemented however
most of the people posting the topic didn't know so I'm sorry if this
is something which is ready available in BL or a third party program to which
I am unaware.

My suggestion comes around the storage and remarks system, after all most of
us stock more parts, and a larger breakdown of parks than your average online
store.

Point A.

Firstly, when I part out a new set and I choose to consolidate old remarks I
don't find out if the item has any previous remarks until I have entered
the remarks myself.

I would personally like to see you choose to part out a set and a list come up
of all the parts that are in that set which you already have in store and the
remarks section to be pre-filled with where you have the same item in the same
condition, allowing you to quickly put away all the parts you already have in
stock.

Then the next page would show you the parts which you don't already have
in your inventory and you would add those parts just like you do now, filling
in the fields you require.

I know this may not be an option to everyones taste but I think it would make
my life easier, so perhaps just the option to have a set up like this or similar
would be nice.

Point B.

To take this further I thought about a system where you documented your storage
system for example I use small boxes which are numbered. I use an excel document
to mark what is in each box by colour, category, part type and condition.

So what if I loaded those details into a database and the database told me what
I had in each box based on the remarks field and what I have said should be in
there for example...

All new 2x2 tiles should be stored in box 20.

I add that to the database.

I can then use the database to see what is in box 20 and based upon my inventory
it says I have the following;

x1 Black New 2x2 tile

x4 Yellow New 2x2 tile.

This would allow me to do a stock check much faster, and would allow me to find
errors not just on the stock levels but on remarks. In addition to this I think
if this was successfully implemented it would remove the need for remarks when
stock counting and order picking all together.

But what about when your listing items...

Well...

Based upon what I have entered into the database... that all new 2 x 2 tiles
should be stored in box 20 the system could provide me with a storage recommendation
even if I for example don't have that colour in the box already it would
see that the tile is in new condition, it is a category tile, and the size is
2 x 2 therefore based on what I have entered it should be stored in box 20.

I hope this makes sense, and I hope you all say it's something which I haven't
found yet but is ready available because I want it NOW!! haha.

Thanks

Hello

I also have a proposal that could be implemented without much effort.

Everybody sees in all Shoplists (summaries), only the total number of stones.

I am of the opinion that the number of different lots is also an important information.

Example:

Shop A - 1,500,000 Stones but only 100 lots
Store B - 50,000 but 10,000 Lots

If I had many different stones Store B is much more interesting, for me.

But you find not so good such stores, because the Lots are not indicated in the
tables. (Store B looks at first glance less attractive as Store A.)

You always have to go into every shop to see the number of lots.

If you have been in the chat room before it was killed over a year ago, it'd
show the time spent in char room. Oddly the link still "works" even though it
leads to error page since the chat no longer exists.

Suggestion: remove link tag, convert "Minutes in Chat" to plain text for us old
people.

Superlots are a great way to list multiple items for sale together. However,
superlots are confusing and difficult for many to bother setting up. To help
increase the usage of superlots and avoid misunderstandings with buyers regarding
what items do or do not go together, I suggest that BrickLink add pre-set
system generated superlots. These superlot templates would be created by contributors
to the BL catalog. Thus, for example, when adding a collectible minifigure to
the BL catalog, the submitter can also have the option to submit a superlot that
others can use to sell that minifigure with accessories as a superlot. Similar
superlots can be proposed for commonly paired items - like windows and glass,
window/door frames and their matching window or door, right and left wedges,
etc. When listing these items for sale in one shop, BL can simply offer sellers
the option of listing in an already existing system generated superlot. Just
fill in the blanks for quantity and price.

When a listing gets reported and action "from the above" not yet taken, highlight
that listing (in-store) in red and/or place a WARNING Icon next to it.

This way potential buyers will be aware that there is potentially something wrong
with that listing, and pay some attention to the extended description (which
is usually the reason why listings get reported).

This would open the gates for abusive reporting, but it is possible to put some
safeguards for that if you really want.

typical for Customer Service at most companies to actively monitor forums for
issues or concerns.
However, BL is unique and the management team has realized
that there is a need for someone to do this.

my first focus will be on monitoring the forums to address concerns and improve
communication back and forth between BL Members and Management.

I also think some people might be equating Customer Service to Forum Moderators.
If we were just adding a moderator, then it would certainly make the most sense
to use existing members of the forum for this position. However, this job requires
significantly more then that and my extensive Customer Service experience comes

If BL sees the forum as only a peer-to-peer communication location that should
be made clear.

Or that only posts in suggestions, problem, problem orders, news, help and administrative

page.

I think the BL forum is different than that from other game and software company
forums. And should be seen and a public communication tool for the BL team in
the way that other companies use Facebook or Twitter. And they monitor those
feeds very closely.

When a post is started by or participated in my a BL staff member I think some
are under the impression that they read all posts in the thread. Comments by
BL staff indicate otherwise.

The (x10) seems easily confused by new buyers to mean you get 10 for each purchase.

Ie they are thinking (*10)

And I think a clearer text would not hurt things at all right??

For sorting search results.

Say you want 240 of some part, you put in "Min Qty: 240"

Seller 1 has "500x at 0.10 each"

Seller 2 has "400x at 0.12 each; buy 50 or more for 0.09 each"

The current sort will show seller 1 first, but the cheapest option (all other
things being equal) would be seller 2.

A Sort by "Best Price at Min Qty" would sort by the price of the highest bulk
tier under the specified "Min Qty" of each listing.

Another option could take into account savings if the min qty is near a bulk
tier. E.g. Seller 3 has "buy 250 or more for 0.08 each" - buying 250 from this
seller costs less than buying 240 from seller 2.

BrickLink should setup a system where a seller would need to have a credit card
to sell on BL, and BL charges the seller a small amount (say $5) to setup the
store, and activate it, and verify the seller's information that is on BL against
the credit card.

The $5 would offset any costs associated with checking names/addresses. Once
BL has a card # and a charge on it, they can verify the name and address to the
card, and they know that they are dealing with a real person, at a real address.
Or, maybe make this an option, and have a store icon that shows that the seller
is verified.

Or, perhaps make this a requirement only if the seller wishes to sell high value
products, or lots of items valued at a high value.

I would gladly do this for my store, to show that I'm legit and serious about
selling.

Locutis
Resistance is futile.

Would be nice to have the ability to make one or more wanted lists "public" so
that if a link was provided to the list other folks could see the list. This
would work similar to Amazon.com wish list in that others can see but not edit
the list.

In my mind, this would be a check box on the wanted list settings (and creation)
screen. Default would be unchecked (meaning private).

[X] Public List

It would be useful in facilitating purchases for gifts (like little Tommy wants
a bunch of batman minifigs so he adds it to his wish list so grandma can buy
one for him by viewing his list), and for facilitating trading because people
can see what the seller would like as payment for the trade items.

Everything else about the wanted list would work the same as it does now - except
that if viewing by someone other then the owner there would be no editing fields
available.

A forum where you cannot be banned. You can speak your mind, argue like an idiot,
mock people, attack people at will, be a jerk, be a jack wagon, or whatever else
you wish.

THIS WOULD BE AN OPT IN ONLY with an adult warning on it!

Think it would be fun.

This forum would NOT be listed on the forum post stats! And it would be a no
man's land for banned and unbanned people alike.

If it gets out of hand NO SUPPORT AT ALL BY MODS/ADMIN/G-D.

Since it would be an opt in ONLY, just do not go there if you do not wish to
be offended!

Great idea.

I would like to see it called THE WILD, WILD FORUM (with a cowboy and Indian
as the icon's for it).

I would like the ability to not "Ignore" but "Shun"

When someone is being a Troll, or even being somewhat unhelpful, and also posting
on the wrong thread...

Shun, not block, just list in red. That way, I know he's being a "Troll light."
Posting relevant comments, but in the wrong thread...

Or, Reconnect would be good... Remove the posts from Brasletty's post, and put
them where they belong...

Or... Posters could bother to rename the thread (lazy BrickLinkers!)

There may be an action for this that is similar and I don't know about it, but
here is my random suggestion anyway.

I operate out of two locations, one location has my personal collection (home),
and my apartment has my store. I commonly visit home and need items from my store
at my apartment. I believe it could be nice to have the ability to shop in your
own store and place an order with your self, that way you have a nice record
of everything you want to take from your own store and it would remove it from
your own store in one action. OF COURSE!! you would not be able to feedback
yourself, and this transaction would not effect the price guide, it would have
to be a separate system. For example, you build your cart in your own store,
and on the check out page select "personal order" so that your "order" is not
technically a Bricklink order. I hope this makes sense. And if something like
this exist, please let me know because I will use it like crazy!

I would like to suggest that you can choose to 'save' a cart on BL, and that
i kept for, eg a week. At the moment it isn't kept after you log off, so if I
want to place an order tomorrow, I either have to do it today or copy & paste
into word, then go to the trouble of finding all the items again. Thoughts?

Based on the discussion of this post:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=599326

A formal suggestion to update to the Help Desk to include:

"BrickLink is fully committed to fair and honest competition among all sellers
who use this site. Compliance with applicable laws is the best means by which
to ensure that such competition is fair and honest. Although it is not BrickLink's
job to police or enforce those laws, for the benefit of the entire BrickLink
community and to put into practice the commitment noted above, we reserve the
right to take action against any members we reasonably believe have violated
any laws to gain an unfair competitive advantage over other members. Such action
may include a warning, temporary suspension of site privileges, or termination
of membership for repeat offenders. We believe a clean honest marketplace best
serves the interests of BrickLink and all its members. If you cannot play fairly
with others, you may be asked to play elsewhere."

In addition, add "Buyer requested customs fraud" as a reason for sellers to cancel
an order AND to remove feedback (but, for feedback removal, only if the request
is made in the Order Comments or via a BrickLink message which can be easily
confirmed by Admin, or if undisputed by the buyer).

I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of

"Extreme discourse".

We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.

The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.

The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.

When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.

When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

Are suggestions still worth making. I ask as none have been implemented since
September.
Without sounding rude..... the reasons are known to all of us why, but no suggestions
have been implemented since September so is the new Admin going to do them or
is Bricklink now running as good as it is ever going to run with no more implemented
suggestions?

The responses to this got me thinking:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=498526

Would committees be a good thing for BL?

I suggest a committee of 3 people for Listing violations: Have the problem reports
sent to 3 members (maybe even conceal the store/user name) and let them vote.
2 votes and the listing gets removed.

I'm sure we would be able to find members for a committee of 3 or maybe 5 very
quickly and that decisions on listings would be decided very quickly.

Obviously Admin and/or the CO would be able to appoint/remove those committee
members and Admin and maybe the CO would also be able to overrule them.

Ok, I have two different ideas to solve the problems with wanted lists timing
out. Here is solution one, solution two will follow shortly, please just vote
on the one you think might be the best way to address this.

So, when a seller uploads a large number of lots, and then attempts to notify,
the system can time-out due to too many emails being sent. When a seller tries
to send the notifications, a certain number are sent, and then the system stops
them from being sent. If the seller tries again, the same number of notifications
are sent, and then the system stops them at about the same point. This appears
to the buyers that have received multible emails from said seller, that the seller
is trying to spam them, when in fact they are just trying to send out notifications
once. Here is the real problem, this seller can no longer send out correct notifications,
because the original notifications remain in the system as "unsent". If they
add more lots, and try again, it repeats the cycle shown above, sending the same
people notifications.

Please allow sellers to "clear notifications", so that if they have too many
lots to notify, they can start over, and continue to add notifications at a later
date, only for new lots.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

Thanks so much,

Darren

Please add a "reccommended maximum lot addition" that will fall within the limitations
of the Bricklink system, to the help section on mass uploads. This would require
the help of some sellers, perhaps keeping track of some uploads, and notifications.
the info could be used to come up with a realistic number of lots that most likely
would not time out.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

I have some ideas on how to fix this problem.

Put a limit on the number of transactions allowed for new sellers.

One per day or 3 per week until established as a seller.

That would limit the damage done by a new seller.

I feel for the buyers that are not familiar with feedback system to spot these
styles of fraud.
