You think that’s bad. This sticker was so far off it’s mark that it ended up
on a whole other part.

And not wholy on that part

Whom did you get the parts from?  Mr Magoo?

Hi,

I had to cancel your post: link to sites selling LEGO are forbidden here.

Also, the Suggestions topic is for suggestions about the website.  Questions
about the catalogue are better placed in the Catalog topics or in the more general
Help section.

As for the part you linked to, sorting trays are in the Gear section.  You should
find it here: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=G&catString=1092

Good afternoon

I would like to know how we find the inventories with the different models of
parts (example: chair with center sprue mark or without )
I had seen the news that the differences were going to be removed, but I would
like to see them. I hope I'm clear enough

That part has already been merged.  There’s no difference in the inventories
now, so we can’t know which variant came in which sets

To see the difference between the parts, there’s often comparison images on the
part’s page.

Though, there doesn’t seem to be a comparison image for 4079
But some pics show the sprue and others not, for instance on

Part No: 4079 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Seat / Chair 2 x 2
*
4079 Minifigure, Utensil Seat / Chair 2 x 2
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil {Dark Bluish Gray}
, the
first pics are without sprue and the third one shows it.

EasyBuy is easy but dumb.  Use the Buy page instead (Buy All button in a WL or
hover over the white heart-shaped icon and click Buy when the menu appers).
On the Buy page, you can use Auto-select that’ll give similar results to EasyBuy,
just with a couple clicks more.
Bonuses:
— you can select multiple lists,
— there’s filters (location…),
— you can even cherry-pick lots in multiple WLs (using the Wanted Items tab on
the left).

As for merging lists, yes, it’s been missing and we asked for it since the inception
of the “new” Wanted List pages, in 2016.
As a workaround, you can ‘merge’ WLs by downloading your lists and uploading
them into a new one.
Not very user-friendly but you then don’t need to use or create a tool to do
it.

A question about the wanted list.

I have included a red brick 2x3 with price set to the lego price. Require say
100 bricks.

I have also inclued brick 2x3 of any colour (N/A) set to a requirement of 200
bricks.

When I buy all and select the top store does this show different combination
of colours of 2x3 bricks starting with the cheapest price, then the next cheapest
and so on until it makes up 200 ?

Hi,

Nope.  Unfortunately

If you search your WL in a store, you’ll be shown all the lots of 2x3 that have
at least 200 bricks.
If you use the Auto-fill options, _all_ the lots will end up in your cart (so,
if there’s 10 lots, you’ll get 2,000 bricks in the cart!).

If you use Auto-select or EasyBuy, the algorithm will choose a lot in a store
with 200 2x3 bricks in one colour.
I’ve no idea whatsoever how that lot is chosen.  Tests have proven it’s not the
cheapest in the store, and it’s not the ‘first’ in the store (in any way you
define ‘first’).  And it’s even worse (price-wise) if there’s multiple stores
in the selection.

IOW: N/A is okay when it’s just about finding stores, but it’s not good when
you want to ‘buy’ automatically.

Also: just try.  It costs nothing but a little time

If you have an XML and there are items in that xml that not found can you upload
regardless and ignore the incorrect parts?

For some reason a Moc I purchased must have either an old colour or part number
and it blocks the import, I can edit the xml but curios if there is a simple
tick box option?

Hi,

The problem would be a old part number (due to a renaming or a merge)… and there’s
no way to correct that on the website

I think BrickStore could be able to automatically correct your XML file… or at
least it’ll have a simple and easy to use interface to find the correct part.

Yes, we know that inventory needs some work.

The "extra" arches are actually shown in the instructions:
http://www.peeron.com/scans/6074-1/16

Ah yes, I see them now the sun is out… and that I was told to look there

The same alternate build is also shown on the box, bottom right corner: https://brickshelf.com/gallery/Jojo/Alternatives/alt-6074-1.jpg

Hmm, to put these arches on the ‘manor’ part, you need other small parts that
are not in the inventory: a 1x2 brick, 2x 1x1 plates and 2x (1 or 2)x3 plates….

You could do without the (1 or 2)x3 plates with the Extra 1x2 and 2x2….

And you can get one 2x3 if you can use the (1 and 2)x10 plates instead of the
(1x2)x8 ones on the walkway… but it doesn’t seem like they did that on the pic.

A head-scatcher….

How much data space would it take to have two catalogs? One for detailed data
and one for generalized marketplace?

The problem isn’t space, it’s consistency and workload.

Basically, you’re doubling the workload.

If you make a change in one of the catalogues, should it be echoed on the other
one?  To which extent?  Can that be automatized?

In the software world, that’s called a fork (external / by another team) or a
branch (internal / by the same team).
We have tools and procedures to follow and “port” (transfer, apply) changes between
branches / versions / forks (‘diffs’ and ‘patches’ and ‘version control system’
(git, bitkeeper, mercurial…)).
And those tools are good and ‘smart.’  They can work around other changes and
differences that shouldn’t change (and (good) devs are lazy: everything that
can be automatized is automatized).
But we ALWAYS need to check the changes.  The changes may apply without a hitch…
but they may break the program because they contradict an older change.  That
can also be automatized, to some extent.  But it’s work again and you can never
predict everything so you always need to check.

Duplicating a database and the changes on the database can be automitized in
the same way: changes are just instructions, like a program.  So the same porting
solutions & problems apply: Should that change be applied?  Can it be applied?
Should another change be applied instead?  And you always need to check, check,
check.
Also, you first need to record these instructions.  AFAIK, BrickLink’s changelogs
aren’t complete / sufficient.

TL;DR: It’s the same as the work done by Rebrickable: another catalogue, with
conversion tables, with changes to follow / apply or not, with errors or misses…,
and with a full team to manage it.
It could be a bit simpler and you could save a bit by keeping it inside BrickLink,
but that won’t remove most of the work needed.

Another possibility is to handle that in only one “catalogue,” with two (or more!)
different ways to present its info.  The work would be done only once, in the
more detailed catalogue, and there would be mechanisms to hide the details to
the users.  But that’s the same as the “umbrella part” solution: you need to
change the whole structure of the database and the way the site works. That
can’t be patched onto what exists now (which is already patched enough with spaghetti
and sauce as it is).

  Hello,

I'm looking at building up the parts for the UCS Y-Wing (2nd edition, 75181).
I already have set 75172 which is the play scale Y-Wing which I'm looking
at breaking down to give me some of the parts for the UCS scale version.

Is their a way, without going through it line by line, to part out the pieces
from the playscale set into my UCS wanted list?

Many thanks,

Hi,

To part out a set: hover over the white, heart-shaped “Want” icon and click “Part
Out”: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/partout.page

But you can’t “apply” a Wanted List (or an inventory) to another one on BrickLink,
to remove the parts you already have.  You need to use third-party tools, like
BrickStore (application) or Rebrickable (website).

Ah ha!  On the alternate build shown on the instructions, we can see a 3rd arch
used (and we can infer a 4th one on the other side).

Instruction No: 6074 Name: Black Falcon's Fortress
*
6074-1 Black Falcon's Fortress
Instructions: Castle: Black Falcons

So, according to the rules, at least these two should be Regular 🤔

And there’s already three LG plates (a 1x10, a 2x2, and a 2x10) in Regular that
are not needed for the main build and that are not visible on the alternate.
The plot thickens 🤔

Hi,

That’s a strange one indeed.  The “Extra” section is for parts that are found
in a sealed box but are not needed for any of the builds seen in the instructions
or on the box.

I had that set when I was a kid… I don’t remember 3 unused arches 🤔

Well, I just checked my parts: there indeed must have been 5 Light Gray 2339
in that set because I’ve 9 and the 4 others are from 6085.

Weird that there were no images of their use on the box….

Maybe there's a language barrier at play here, but this is not tax fraud.

AIUI:

If the amount paid/pocketed includes the tax:
— The seller is collecting tax money when they aren’t authorized to and have
no way to remit it.  That is tax fraud.
— The buyer is giving the tax money to the seller, who, again, is neither authorized
to collect it nor in any capacity to remit it.  Knowingly or not, that is tax
fraud.

(From what was said, the seller is taking the tax.  So this is the situation
discussed here.)

If the amount paid/pocketed doesn’t include the tax:
— The buyer is not paying the tax they owe.  That is tax evasion, a.k.a tax fraud.
— The seller is helping the buyer not paying the tax.  That’s helping and abetting
tax evasion.  Tax fraud.

Sorry but:
You can’t advertise items that are not for sale in a store.
You need to open a store.
And, yes, you need some feedback first and that means buying something.

Thank you!

You can't eliminate VAT - it will be collected either by BrickLink (if the
order is under 150 euro) or by customs in the buyer's country (if the order
is 150 euro or more).

To be clear: it’s German Import VAT, not Vietnam VAT.

BrickLink collects taxes from the buyers in these situations:
— US Sales tax: most US buyers, when they buy from any seller for any amount,

Shouldn't it be in the "Brick, Modified" category?

Thank you very much! That solved the issue. It was indeed an item I'd added
15 minutes before the problem started. I have no idea how the item got added
twice; I should've received an error message.

One sure thing that creates duplicates is when parts are merged in the catalogue.

Hi and welcome

The admins moderate the designs according to these guidelines: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042355033-Studio-Gallery-submission-guidelines

Until a design is accepted, it’s “Display Only.”

For your two public designs, you clearly state you’ve copied someone else’s intellectual
property.  They’ll stay Display Only.

If you have posted another design, and it has been set to Private, then check
the guidelines link above to understand why.

For more info, contact support: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/help/contact.page

(FYI, Discussions Moderators don’t moderate the designs.  I’m just answering
as a member.)

Your status doesn’t matter.

BrickLink has to collect the taxes from the buyers, so the payment can only be
done with an onsite method (Stripe or PayPal Onsite).

If there’s an e-mail or link in the invoice, it may be a way to make the buyers
pay offsite (the buyers could send the money directly to the e-mail, or the link
could be a link to a payment service).  BL can’t allow that because that would
be tax fraud.

Remove links and e-mails from your invoices when BrickLink has to collect tax.

I need positive feedback in order to begin (sadly) selling my 10,000+ collection
to make room for my 2-year-old angel. Sadly, all my money is going to her (and
IRS) so I can't purchase thus and seeking out a great favor from one lego
dork to another

It’s not a question of being nice or not: there’s no other way to get feedback
than through a transaction.  So, for beginners, to buy.

And you don’t need to buy much.  There’s a lot of parts at 1 cent or less.

a two page order from BrickLink.
The order had been filled, and completed 10 days ago.
The computer had been off and on, as had the printer several times since the
initial order.
How is it that something stays in memory for so long and then just presents itself
to the world, or at least my part of the world?

Printing jobs are sent into a queue (= saved somewhere on your disk) before being
sent to the printer.  If the printer doesn’t answer or is interrupted or if the
queue is interrupted or there’s a glitch and it doesn’t know the job was printed
or it forgot it was, it’ll try again later.
It may not try again immediately when the printer is available, something else
may trigger it.

When you add features like:
— multiple printers,
— multiple users / machines,
— pausing,
— auto-retry, etc.,
you also add potentialities for glitches.

Well, that, or it’s gremlins….

Hi and welcome

The dedicated forum for Studio and PartDesigner is https://forum.bricklink.com/
(hover over the red Studio icon on every page, then click “Studio Forum”).

There, you should be able to upload a better image.

Here’s the direct link to post in the correct subforum: https://forum.bricklink.com/posting.php?mode=post&f=4

Please, also tell us what’s your operating system (Windows, macOS)?  Its version?
Your hardware?  The version of Studio you’re running?

Also, if that happens with a particular model, it would help if you could attach
it.

Can you also join Studio’s log file?  This file is called Prev_Player.log
and it can be found:
on Windows: C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Stud.io\
on macOS: /Users/{YOUR USERNAME}/.local/share/Stud.io

Notes:
— .local & AppData are hidden (Cmd + Shift + . (period) to see hidden files in
macOS Finder; on Windows, you can search for %localappdata% (with the percent
signs) to directly go to AppData\Local),
— the file is overwritten everytime you start Studio, so get it just after you
have had the problem.

No, it’s “Simon”: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_(game)

It’s based on the children game: the machine lights the 4 coloured buttons in
a sequence, with accompanying sounds, and you need to repeat the sequence by
hitting the buttons.

One more question how do you add a decorated part?

Below is taken from what the catalogue people answer when someone tries to add
plain parts instead of stickered parts in inventories.
That bit works the same for any part:

Please follow the following process to add it correctly:

(1) Add the […] part to the BrickLink catalog:

Hi,

Seems to be working.

As a guess, I’d venture that you have duplicates in on of your lists: if ONE
of your lists has duplicate items, that blocks ALL your lists.

Check on the list of WLs, the culprit should be marked: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/list.page

Then open it, the duplicate(s) should be marked.
Solve the duplicates problem(s) and try again.

Sealed.

So it may vary: catalogs, leaflets, localized instructions, even the box can

I don’t know why neither of you can… but I know sellers needing or being able
to mark orders complete always spawn discussions: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1462094

second order..the customer has requested cancellation of their order after paying
as they have changed their mind..i agreed providing they covered the unrefundable
part of the paypal fees ..which they are happy to do
i have processed the refund including going into the refund on bricklink part
but it will not let me cancel the order and update my inventory

If you didn’t refund the whole order, you can’t cancel it.
Otherwise, this scenario would be possible: buyer pays 100, seller refunds 1
and cancels, buyer can’t do anything on BL.
(With luck, buyer can do something with PayPal or Stripe to get the remaining
99.)

[…image…]

That is only valid when one hasn’t yet checked out.  And you can’t click on “check
out” if the prices/available quantities have changed.

So, if OP has already checked out, as they seem to say, they can’t update the
cart anymore because the items have been reserved at the prices in the cart and
the prices can’t change.

(If the seller changed the prices after the click, it’s too late.  Too bad for
the seller if it’s an increase, too bad for the buyer if it was a decrease.)

So it’s a bug somewhere else, in the shipping calculation or in the taxes one.

  Hello!

Hi,

I uploaded from Stud.io to brinklink to purchase all my Legos for a project but
neglected to save what was not available - so basically I do not know which Legos
I am missing. Is there a way to go back and see what I am missing?

Er, what do you mean exactly by “not available”?
Do you mean the parts that EasyBuy or Auto-select didn’t find?

If you’ve already made the orders, you can “apply” them on your Wanted List.

Beware, that feature only works well if you only have one Wanted List, because
it has no memory of what was already “applied.”

You open your WL, there’s an “Apply Order” button on the top right.  Click on
it, it will propose your orders that have items that match the ones in the WL.
Choose an order and apply it: the Have fields are changed to the quantity in
the order.
Most of the searches, and notably the Buy page, know to only look for “wanted
qty minus Have qty” and not “wanted qty” only.  For some (search in a store for
instance), you need to activate the option in the filters.

Beware2: If you have parts in your WL in the colour Not Applicable (= Any colour
for searches), Apply Order won’t find them, because parts in the orders have
another colour.
So you’ll need to check your WL and orders for those parts.

If that doesn’t answer your question, please give more details on your situation

Hi, thank you for your reply.
I have thoroughly checked everything again, and I was on the edge of going crazy
when I realised what was the mistake I made and where.
I tried over and over again and for like the 100th time I saw that until now
I always moved the minifigure's arms by releasing the torsos first. And THIS
is a mistake . Once I released the torso all the parts included in it appeared
on the right side list as unavailable within the given palette. Meanwhile if
I move them without releasing them first they will be OK. So all my issues originated
from this.

Indeed, it’s better to use the Posing tool for the minifigs (and the 1x4 plate
hinge…): https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6502749986967-Posing-minifigs-and-other-special-parts

As for the LEGO News, now that must have been some sort of glitch or similar,
as once I deleted the part completely and re-added it from the list it was fine.

Maybe you had it in the wrong colour? (It can be easy to recolour a part.)

So now I am error free and cannot wait the middle of May!

Happy to help

  Hi everyone,

Hi,

I was trying to find some information on this, but I wasn't able to find
anything, hence my question.

There’s more info on the dedicated forum: https://forum.bricklink.com/viewforum.php?f=13

So I am preparing my first submission for the next round of the BLDP, and I am
aware that I should use the most recent palette (5).

Yes.

My question is that as there are no printed parts in this palette (eg. the Lego
News 2x2 tile),

There ARE printed parts, and the 2x2 “The LEGO News” newspaper is in it.

  [… missing torsos …]

A lot of decorated torsos are there too.

   I have 'Decorated Bricks On',

Are you sure?
https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/8117942037911-Missing-parts

but still, even if I choose
a torso from there it is listed as unavailable within the selected palette once
inserted.

Which torsos exactly?

Also, don’t confuse “marked as unvailable within the selected palette” and the
yellow “!” / “unaivalable on BL.”
I haven’t checked all the torsos but it sometimes happens that some parts are
in the BDP palette but not “known” = not in an inventory on BrickLink yet = without
colours or prices.

ONE of your lists has a duplicate and that blocks ALL your lists.

Check on the list of WLs, the culprit should be marked: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/list.page

Then open it, the duplicate(s) should be marked.

It works as I have had to do it myself in the past.

Yes but this example just illustrates someone not using the system properly and
I'm pretty sure we don't require a system built around a one off user
not using the system correctly?

A system shouldn’t allow its users to use it incorrectly.
(That includes sellers marking orders complete )

“You’re holding wrong” is a registred trademark.  BrickLink is too cheap to use
it.

I can imagine the feedback they left was interesting....

"Great Seller, Order is on its way and it will arrive in good time and be
absolutely perfect!"

Have you read the feedback left on other plateforms?  It’s sometimes worse than
that.

I managed to remove the set, but when I remove the set, pieces
didn't go with it.

Hi,

AFAIK, there’s no simple way to do that.

I thought about trying to trick the site: I imported an inventory of one part
with negative quantity… and I got this (see pic; note that the total is correct
2 + -1 = 1).
Not what you want.

So I think you’ll have to:
— go piece by piece,
— or start again (you can empty your whole collection by importing an empty file),
— or use a thrid-party tool, like BrickStore: download/export your collection,
import it in BrickStore, edit it there (you should be able to remove the set’s
inventory), then import it in your My Collection… or not, because BrickStore
has many features My Collection still doesn’t have.

Agreed! The dots and circles, the red arrows aren't identical on both versions!

Joking aside, I can’t see what difference the arrows are supposed to point to.

Circles’ diff seem to be either that:
— there’s a bolt in one version but not the other (but maybe it’s hidden by the
circle,
— or there’s no black line at the bottom… but that could just be a slight misalignment
/ print error and not intentional.

The help page: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2550
also links to: https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/online-sellers_en

The €10k threshold replaces the previous by-country thresholds for non-domestic
sales, so it works the same way, and that’s the same way as domestic sales: it’s
your total sales.

BrickLink and PayPal fees are parts of your costs, exactly like buying the LEGO
you sell.  You don’t remove your costs from your sales when you consider your
total sales.

Postage is a cost too.  There’s rare cases where it can be excluded but they
don’t apply on BL.

Hi,

(Moved your post: the Colors topic is part of the reference catalogue.)

Do you know of a simple way to recolor
any visible parts to the original colors en masse (realizing that all of the
pieces might not even be available in those colors).

If you have a 3D model file (.io, .ldr, .lxf), you can open it in Studio and
easily repaint it: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5411673129879-Coloring-parts
https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5410231515543-Selection-tool

Studio will also tell you if the parts are available: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/5705572363159-Parts-prices-and-availability

And it will help you choose other colours: https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6501160941591-Color-Validator

If you only have PDF or paper instructions… you can still build it in Studio
first.

Otherwise, in a Wanted List here, you can select parts and then click on the
“Color” button at the top of the list and you’ll be able to change the colours
of all the selected items.  But then, you need to know which parts to select.

Well, some have proposed counting the number of cancellations, either to remove

Hi,

You’ll need to open your store as you can’t advertise something that’s not for
sale in your store.
You can set a high minimum value to prevent orders.
Also add a clear announcement on the banner, splash page or terms to explain
you want to sell your whole inventory.

Also, ads (sales & new items for sale) should go to the Sales topic… but selling
an entire store is a bit of an edge case: you’re not advertising to the common
buyer.  I’ll let you decide if you want to post there.
(But the limit is still 1 ad per month to prevent year-long “I’m selling my store”
sales: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1437060 )

Reading your messages so far one could mean that you sent the package back for
no reason.

First, they said they have a reason.
Second, even if you/we/anyone don’t agree with the reason, according to EU laws,
they can return without any reason.

IOW: that’s not the problem.  The problem is abuse of the NPB system.

It's BrickLink, it's an USA based company.

That doen’t absolve EU sellers to adhere to EU laws.  OP seems to have only bought
from German sellers so far.

In short, at some extent and depending the case, an order on BrickLink can technically
be a service and not a sale of goods.

No.  Goods are never a service.

What could be argued is that BL parts orders are “goods made to order or clearly
personalised.”  Those are exempt from the “cooling-off” period.

Sellers can also:
— not refund shipping,
— have restocking fees,
if it’s clearly stated in the terms before the sale.

  Hi all,

After clicking "Add to my collection" on a set page, I checked My Collection
and the set isn't there, but the parts and minifigs are. Does it just take
time or did I do something wrong?

Image attached to what I'm referring to.

When you click there, there’s a checkbox “Add set inventory to My Parts” in the
dialog (pic).

If you tick it, the parts of the set are added to your My Collection in the
Parts section, but the set is not added in the Sets section, contrarily to what
the button still says.
IOW:
— box ticked = part out the set in My Parts
— box unticked = set added to My Sets.

If you want to do both, you need to add the set twice.

I have the same problem too. Probably due to [redacted] stupid attacks to BL. Anyway
if you save your yesterday work as a local file, you can open it and continue
your work...but without uploading to BL, just save it again and wait.

Like this

Looks like the white volcano erupted and you courageously put the box in the
way of the magma before it spread further

What action is required to have this former seller access the selling side again
with a new account and repeating what he did before?

Is there an IP-check? (useless when using VPN I guess?)
Is there an ID-check?

How is TLG in general protecting the users of BrickLink for these loopholes?

I know, when I put easter eggs instead of Lego bricks in a shipment, TLG can
not prevent me from doing so. But it's kind of scary.....

Probably none. I imagine that is why they deregister rather than get suspended.

Creating an account: they at least check e-mail and address (real, don’t know
for IP: everyone doesn’t have a fixed IP).

Becoming a seller: The new seller verification process asks for real ID and stuff.
Preventing that kind of whack-a-mole game was why it was set in place.

Here we've 20°C (68 F) just like everyone else, don't we?

Not exactly, max 18°C here today.
The difference must be due to all the greenhouse gases you’re emitting around
your house (less starch, more fibers!)

yes, I saw them, but I'm not sure, if they are really the official ones which
were here on bricklink.

And also... those prices are in euro, so... are they the european prices? If
yes, for which country. Cause the VAT can differ also per Country. Like Germany-Slovakia
have (I think) 1% difference in VAT.

Maybe search for older articles/reviews/announces about them?  Or the Wayback
machine?

  Sorry., I wasn't clear enough.
I'm making a list and I wanted the prices of ALL Bricklink sets, not just
the last series.

Well, the ADP and BDP Invitational sets aren’t for sale any more.  Their current
prices are second market prices.

I think Brickset may have the initial prices (under “RRP” / retail recommended
prices).

  Hi,
Does anyone know, where can I find official prices of the BDP sets? Is there
some oficial list?
Are there differences between Europe/US ?

Thanks

See the [Program] icon on the top of the screen

For Series 1: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-1/main.page

For the other Series, AFAIK they are not yet in the stage that prices have been
announced.

And the prices are different, notably because EU prices include VAT while US
prices are without Sales taxes.
