Something odd while processing an order this morning: All items within the order
that were sold out, had the red zero active-link to stockroomed (zero) inventory
of that item. What you’d normally see when the “Retain items in store inventory
after items are sold out” is activated within store listings.
In all our years operating as a vendor here, we’ve used that feature on a handful
of specific listings only, rarely iow. But every listing within this morning’s
order with zero remaining, linked to a stockroom listing of said item. I knew
straight away what the issue was, that the feature had been activated over all
of our inventory. After processing the order, I simply went into our inventory
management page and reset it.
Really don’t know how the change occurred other than not by us. First off, I’m
hardly on that page anymore. Secondly, as said; we've never used that feature
in that manner before. Maybe last night’s update/maintenance or some other event,
who knows
This interrupts how we utilize the very useful Stockroom feature here on BrickLink.
So yeah, perhaps more salient an issue for us than maybe some other vendors.
Nonetheless, just a heads-up to check yours
|
Sounds like I might be confused about what/how that feature is used. I have it
toggled on because I plan to use it to help track which parts are selling or
have sold in the past when choosing new inventory purchases. Are you saying that
people are able to purchase parts where you have zero inventory because that
option is turned on?
Also curious how you use the stockroom feature?

Since 2024, a new set has been available that contains this part.
It can be purchased in any LEGO store or reseller. But I still see that every
new seller of this part bases their price on the original price when this part
was still rare.
This it totally nuts imo.
I'm thinking of parting out 10 sets containing this part and pricing them
at around 50 cents to change the price guide which will force future sellers
of this item to sell this item cheaper.
To the sellers: do you also experience these kinds of crazy things?

This is the reason I use the Last Six Months Sales Quantity Average for my pricing.
It effectively eliminates people listing the part for sale at high prices and
gives a good idea of what people will actually pay for the part.

Just found this one, $10 (?) avg price LOL:

I just sent a message to the highest price seller

I've been observing this on since the start of my selling around
2016.
It was only avail in a CMF set from 2010 and was $4+
In 2017, it became available in a batman movie CMF and has since released in
3 more sets, and the price has slowly whittled down to $0.75-ish
So it appears, the market eventually catches up, but it can take YEARS.

| I randomly looked at some parts in my inventory and I found one example of a
used part costing ten cents more that a new part. I'm sure I've seen
other examples but that's not the issue. What is it that drives prices the
best. Is it possibly part of the algorithm to fill someone's wanted list
or do people mostly default to used parts on that list? I thought this could
help us sellers use better methods of selling somehow.
The part I'm talking about is 3068bpb0929 2x2 map tile. Last six months .27
cents used, compared to .17 cents new.
any thoughts on this ? I've sometimes thought about listing everything used
unless it was a rare part. You would lose money up front but possibly make more
sales ???? Apparently on this part you would make more money. Just a strange
topic I thought would be fun to discuss.
|
Could be a target for arbitrage - buy the new parts and sell them as used in
your store, $.10 profit per piece.
Personally I think its a good idea to sell everything used because it gets rid
of the people that will complain about a small scratch or whatever.
Either way I would think selling all used or all new is the way to go - having
to manage a whole seperate inventory sound like a nightmare.

You are the seller. Your customers are buyers.
You can't ship LEGO via First Class mail. This is just for normal mail that
runs through the roller sorting machines. You should turn off this shipping method.
Go through the Calculate a Price feature on USPS.com to learn the different shipping
methods and their rules and prices.
| I changed my shipping options to 2 methods that provide tracking information
- Ground Advantage for $5.95 and Priority which is $9.85.
|
These prices are high. Consider purchasing your postage online for a significant
discount.
|
Problem is buyers are still paying the $3.00 so every shipment I eat a min. of
$2.95. I'm sure it's something I haven't done, don't know how
to do, etc.
Suggestions?
|
Go through your shipping methods. Delete or disable the ones you don't want
to use. Don't trust any 'shared' shipping method on BrickLink. They
are not maintained or updated. You need to learn enough to create your own shipping
methods. I would suggest updating your terms as well.
Good luck,
~Jen

I think it's the default because it's the least expensive for the buyer.

First Class parcels could be tracked (First Class was replaced by Ground Advantage).
You definitely shouldn't be sending anything as First Class letter mail now.

It looks like your First Class option is still active - you can't delete
it until all the orders you sent out with it are completed, cancelled, or purged;
but you can disable it.
By the way, please sign up for Pirate Ship so you can avail yourself of commercial
rates for postage. Ground Advantage starts at $3.79 for the commercial rate,
I believe.
