I have a bunch of sets that I plan to sell. A few of them (I think) got water
damage to the box. The sets are still sealed. One end of the box is kind of crushed,
and my guess is that it got a bit wet and then the weight of the rest of the
box made it get crushed. So I am leaning towards opening the box to confirm the
instructions aren't messed up, so that I can disclose that when I sell it.
But then again, I hate to break the seal of the box. What would you do? (They
are big sets - Disney castle, Big Ben, and Ghostbusters firehouse.)

Stickers, electronic components and cloth can also be damaged by water. You might
also have mold on the instructions and/or inside of the box. Lastly, there could
be bugs that were attracted by the water and died in there.

I would open the box up and see what you're dealing with. If I were looking
for a New In Box set I wouldn't buy one with water damage unless the price
reflected it. You could always list it as New, Complete instead of New, Sealed:

Since the boxes have water damage and that can mess up instructions like you
mentioned I’d recommend opening them and selling them as open box as otherwise
you might end up selling someone some badly damaged instructions and it would
make things complicated

You need to put them into your store to sell them.

Hi and welcome to Bricklink! You can't sell on here without first making
a purchase and receiving positive feedback from the buyer. I always try to leave
feedback for new buyers right away so if you see anything you like in my shop,
I'd be happy to help you with your first order!
