Hi,

Sorry but:
You can’t advertise items that are not for sale in a store.
You need to open a store.
And, yes, you need some feedback first and that means buying something.
These are the rules.

Do: Open a store before advertising you have sets for sale.

Okay thanks

HI there I'm thinking selling on this website. I wanted to ask a few questions
about it however.

#1 I have "Complete" sets, but there're original bricks are scattered
in my LEGO box. is it right/uncouth to sell something as "complete" if
I put the sets back together again from my vast lego box?

Yes you can list this as "Used, Complete" if the instructions are
missing you must state this in the description

#2 Is a mini figure still "new" if it has been gently taken care of in
a box of other minis, and never been played with and still shinny and unscratched?

Must be listed as "Used"

any help is appreciated! I would just like to know the "Dos and don'ts"
of selling LEGO's

Cheers Cy Kill's Garage!

here is the help page on the "item for sale Condition"
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102

Thank you all!

okay then another question, what started me on this was when I found my 20th
anniversary Lando figure still in great shape, and upon looking at the going
rate for him amounting at 45-50 dollars for him complete with stand, I was blown
away! so is he worth more with or without his set?

The figure alone sold 81 times the last 6 months while the set only sold 18 times
both in used condition

If you have the set I would sell it with him to make it complete

ok thanks!

As long as you include instructions and extra parts

Used sets do not have to include either the instructions or extra parts.

LEGO is the same as deer, you don't add an "s" to the end to designate
multiple LEGO

One Deer -- Herd of Deer
One LEGO -- Box of LEGO
One Egg -- Dozen Eggs

Yes LOL I have recently learned that about LEGO bricks, i've always called
them LEGOs

Not you too

Lol forgive me for my blasphemy.

First off be warned, people are very picky here!

I think it’s ok so long as the colours are the same and the variants are the
same, and there are instructions.

#2 Is a mini figure still "new" if it has been gently taken care of in

No, if you sell those as new you will be in trouble. You can only sell figs as
new if they are straight from the bag or assembled and put STRAIGHT into storage.

Yes, but you have to note in your listing if you don't have the box and/or
instructions.

Nope. It's Used.

so long as what you have matches the bricklink invenoty there is nothing wrong
with selling a used set even if you parted it together from a big box

#2 Is a mini figure still "new" if it has been gently taken care of in

you can only sell minifigres as new if they are handled only for sorting and
selling purposes. if you used them for any other purposes including display then
they are no longer new

any help is appreciated! I would just like to know the "Dos and don'ts"

#1 I have "Complete" sets, but there're original bricks are scattered
in my LEGO box. is it right/uncouth to sell something as "complete" if
I put the sets back together again from my vast lego box?

#2 Is a mini figure still "new" if it has been gently taken care of in
a box of other minis, and never been played with and still shinny and unscratched?

any help is appreciated! I would just like to know the "Dos and don'ts"
of selling LEGO's

Cheers Cy Kill's Garage!

GO to "Edit Order" (at bottom of the order page), there set the payment
status to unpaid. Then you should be able to cancel.

I just bought the Lightyear Zurg 76831 set and am planning to sell the Buzz and

to sell without the alternative heads and hair that come with them. I see some
do and others don’t. I was curious if buyers have an expectation that they will
come with them and it might lead to a problem or perhaps I should list those
parts separately.

Any advice would be great.

Personally, as a buyer I wouldn’t expect the alternative heads unless specified
but not everyone is like that so i can understand how that may be an issue.
I’d say sell them with the alt heads as that may be a selling point for some
instead of selling them separately, that’s just me though.

list it based off the bricklink inventory. if you want you can include the alternate
heads/hair as bonuses but not as replacements and they are not expected.

I received this email from BrickLink:

[Action required] Deadline has been extended to August 4, 2024

"Hello Give.Me.A.Brick,

Your deadline to enable distance selling has been extended to August 4, 2024*.

We want to remind you that you have reached the EUR 10,000 distance selling threshold
on BrickLink for the 2024 calendar year and may need to enable distance selling.
The new EU Marketplace rules went into effect on July 1, 2021 indicating that
any seller with more than EUR 10,000 worth of distance sale of goods must register
with their local tax authorities and charge the VAT rate of the buyer's country.

You will need to register for either One Stop Shop (OSS) or in each individual
EU Member State where you sell on BrickLink. Once you obtain your OSS ID number
or the VAT IDs for the countries you transact in, you can then enable distance
selling on BrickLink.

To enable distance selling, go to the Value Added Tax (VAT) section on the Store
Settings Management page.
Go to Store Settings Management page

If no action is taken, your selling abilities on BrickLink within the EU Member
States (other than your home nation) will be blocked until the end of the next
calendar year. During this time you can still register and enable distance selling.

To learn more about distance selling, please see the European Commission article
on this topic.

Thank you,
The BrickLink Team

*11:59pm ET"

I already have registered for OSS and Distance Selling enabled since late 2022
so I'm confused if there's anything further I need to do?

Beyond SezaR's guidance, you might encourage your buyer in moving forward
to activate that notification (link) feature on their My Action Items page too:
https://www.bricklink.com/mySettings.asp

They should appreciate the tip.

Link
Ask to search the id of the item inside your store

Or hover to “my bl” where there is a link to items reserved for buyer (items
reserved by all sellers if there is any other seller who reserved an item for
him)

I hear from the buyer a week after shipping about how the set is horribly damaged

their money back. I know that not to be the case, but I send a label for return
shipping and will refund once received. It's just a Creator set, so no minifigs
or rare parts to worry about being swapped.

I get the set back, and it's obvious it was never even opened. All parts
in the separate bags I used. I'm pretty sure the box was still sealed with
my packing tape.

I refunded the purchase anyway. Sucks I'm out $25 for the shipping both ways,
but you have this occasionally. Is rather they had just been honest about having
buyer's remorse.

You were not obliged to pay for return shipping. I wouldn't pay it.

Hey All,
I am giving some serious consideration to selling all my stock and storage and
closing down my store just because I am having trouble finding the time to keep
up with it.
This is the current stock level...
Total 68,114 items in 4,566 lots in 171 categories.
My store inventory total value (Original Price): GBP 8,691.49
My store inventory total value after sale (Category Average): GBP 8,691.49
Most of it is parted out and there is a few complete sets
I also have...
26 x 60 drawer storage units each drawer has 2 parts these cost £34 each total
£884
86 Clip lock style containers of 4 different sizes costing around £300 for all
150 Takeaway size containers costing about £30 for the lot.
Most of the Lego in the store is new and I also have available loads of used
Lego that is my own collection.
Everything is organised using a bar code system and I also have a small bar code
scanner that can go with it.
If anyone is interested in making an offer please get in touch. Only serious
offers please.

What if I purchase them for 50 cents and relist them on BrickLink at the now
current price?

That was exactly my thought when I read her post thinking that if she parted
out 10 sets and sold the 10 helmets for one buck each then someone would probably
buy them and turn around and relist them at the 6 month sales average of six
bucks each.

Sad to read your husband left this realm already....
Hope you (and your next of kin) are coping alright.

Regarding the Lego, here's my advice, as I think you are not planning on
starting a shop here, but want to pass the Lego on to another AFOL/seller/collector
here.

Contact some UK regional sellers directly through the BL-sytem. Explain what
you want, provide the listings so they can asses the collection. And make you
an offer.

Here's a list of the top sellers in England, UK, you might want to contact:

https://www.bricklink.com/memberList.asp?stateID=10270&countryID=UK&v=3&viewUserType=2

If you want a second opinion on any offer you are given by any seller, I'll
be happy to help you. Just send me the inventory listings (what file type do
you have it in? hopefully XLM, CSV or BrickStore ).

Best of luck and hope this helps!

Sorry for your loss.
If your looking for your looking for the absolute easiest way to sell it I’d
recommend selling it by the pound on a local marketplace, if your fine with a
little more work there are several options such as registering on bricklink so
you can better show the inventory and just set a min buy high enough so people
can only buy everything and then put the parts 50%-70% below the 6-month average
and you shouldn’t have to to much difficulty selling it in bulk in 1 go. Or you
might have some luck joining a selling group on Facebook or something and seeing
if you can sell it there

I observe that some parts are regularly offered for exorbitant prices when there
is actually no reason for this.

Take for example this part

Part No: 19730 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Rectangular (Minecraft)
*
19730 Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Rectangular (Minecraft)
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Pearl Gold}

This was previously only available in set

Set No: 21127 Name: The Fortress
*
21127-1 (Inv) The Fortress
959 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2016
Sets: Minecraft
and

Set No: 21137 Name: The Mountain Cave
*
21137-1 (Inv) The Mountain Cave
2822 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Minecraft

These sets were limited in number and are much sought after.

Since 2024, a new set

Set No: 21252 Name: The Armory
*
21252-1 (Inv) The Armory
196 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2023
Sets: Minecraft
has been available that contains this part.
It can be purchased in any LEGO store or reseller. But I still see that every
new seller of this part bases their price on the original price when this part
was still rare.

This it totally nuts imo.

I'm thinking of parting out 10 sets containing this part and pricing them
at around 50 cents to change the price guide which will force future sellers
of this item to sell this item cheaper.

To the sellers: do you also experience these kinds of crazy things?

You really think sellers are checking the pricing and availability of every item
in a part out? They set it 'just below the 6 months average' and click
the button.

When I part out a set and set to 6 month average I globally check the prices.
When I see a high price for a particular brick I always check the price guide
to get a better idea and sometimes I also check the sets the part is coming in.
I agree that not every seller is doing this.

By the way, if everyone keeps doing that, the prices will all hit bottom. Like
every book on amazon costing $.99

I don't think so. Most parts that have a high sales volume have a fairly
consistent price. The most important factor for prices going down hill is when
they come available in pick-a-brick, e.g. the 1x2 masonry brick in lbg.

19730 Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Rectangular (Minecraft)
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Pearl Gold}

This was previously only available in set

21127-1 (Inv) The Fortress

Set No: 21137 Name: The Mountain Cave
*
21137-1 (Inv) The Mountain Cave
2822 Parts, 6 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Minecraft

These sets were limited in number and are much sought after.

Since 2024, a new set

Set No: 21252 Name: The Armory
*
21252-1 (Inv) The Armory
196 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2023
Sets: Minecraft
has been available that contains this part.
It can be purchased in any LEGO store or reseller. But I still see that every
new seller of this part bases their price on the original price when this part
was still rare.

This it totally nuts imo.

I'm thinking of parting out 10 sets containing this part and pricing them
at around 50 cents to change the price guide which will force future sellers
of this item to sell this item cheaper.

To the sellers: do you also experience these kinds of crazy things?

Keep in mind that not all sellers are looking for a quick sale on all their stocked
items. If you have lots of stock of a part and/or can replenish that stock quickly
and easily then yes you may want to price competitively or perhaps even below
market value. Same goes for wanting to clear out stock that you feel holds little
long term potential but takes up precious storage space

However sellers may also want to price well above market value where the part
is not widely available at cheap pricing within their own country/region also
they may not envisage being able to easily stock that part ever again and therefore
see more value in these parts compared to their competitors. Basically they are
in it for the long term waiting game but that's not to say there isn't
still potential for it to sell sooner alongside other more competitively priced
items stocked within that same store (In short not everything in your store needs
to be super competitive to generate orders but it helps to have atleast some
competitively priced and unique items)
Sometimes I might price items high simply because they're not my usual parts
and so I don't have a very organized storage solution for them therefore
if it ends up taking me forever to find at least I know I sold it for good money!
(Time is sometimes more important)

Also take a GWP set... Once they flood the market they can sell for next to nothing
but just because most other sellers want to sell their GWP's cheaply for
a quick sale there is nothing wrong with listing them well above market value
and being in it for the long haul especially since sets generally require more
time and effort to process as well as needing a visit to post office therefore
if I'm going to sell a set then I'd personally rather make it worth my
effort and time!

To the sellers: do you also experience these kinds of crazy things?

More tims goes by, more items will be listed and price drops down on its own.
This is how things are working in the realm of economy. Today’s average sold
price in used condition is 13.95$ usd and in the last. 6 months, only 8 of them
are sold. The average price in new condition is 5.98 $ usd and
9 are sold. Lets wait a few months and see how it changes. ☺️

If you buy a few of them and list them, assuming you mange to control yourself
and list them for 50cents instead of $3 (i personally won’t control my desire
to gain a higher profit) you would just make changes to happen quicker.

What if I purchase them for 50 cents and relist them on BrickLink at the now
current price?

You might make money just remember shipping costs

I will be completely honest here.

We run a shop, and this is not done for charity purposes - it is very much a
part of our income. I am very happy if parts are priced high, as this will generate
more revenue. Consequently, I am no fan of a race to the bottom for every part
that suddenly sees a larger number offered. Compared to when we started, prices
have gone down for parts precisely because of this race to the bottom.

To be able to sell, and still make a living, we price our product according to
what the market does. If the market allows high prices - YAY! Low prices - BOO!

Niek.

Which is nuts! I've never done this.

Price sold is based on acquisition price + margin.
You can easily set this up in a couple of clicks using BrickStore.
Maybe with BrickLink also, but I never use those pages.

Then when you upload you may decide depending the quantity you're uploading
either if you keep the old prices, or replace with the new price, or decide it
more or less manually for a few lots to every lot (again with BrickStore).

In short while avg can be important (better to be below it), sellers shouldn't
set price on it.

HTH?

This

So many sellers do this. I see it recommended on youtube channels, facebook groups
on bricklink etc. They say its so easy just price at 6 months avg and the system
does all the work for you. Then we get those stores that wonder, how come I am
not making any money and other people saying parting out sets is not worth it
anymore because prices have dropped so much etc. Everytime someone lists something
at avg price it lowers the price for the next people and on and on it goes if
no one pays attention.

I have always manually priced my inventory and it's not always fun. It's
a lot of work, but as a seller I know what my items cost, what sells for me,
what doesn't, how long have I had an item etc. So many factors go into a
price. Been on Bricklink since 2009. It works for us.

And if I set a price for something years ago, I'm not constantly checking
to see if it went up or down. I'm a small store with only 3,454 lots but
I don't have time for that.

A specific part should be worth what similar rarity parts are, it's a supply
and demand market. As a buyer, I appreciate the thoughtfulness towards buyers

My question is, how do I upload them? Altogether under 3004 without any remark

I have read in the forum that people do not like to have different entries for
the same part (only one for new and one for used), so... I would like to avoid
having many entries for 3004 used but, at the same time, would you be happy receiving
10x 3004 where 8x have normal bottom and 2x "empty(?)" bottom?

Also, what if some parts are in mint condition and some others are with some
scratches? How do you normally differentiate them in your shops?

Sorry for the long question, but hope I made the point!

Thanks a lot!

Hollow peg, solid peg, etc. There are buyers who prefer older versions and will
gravitate toward these descriptions.

part of LEGO fan culture may be listed. These include literature about LEGO products,
LEGO memorabilia, and items used to make custom sets (e.g., stickers, instructions,
and boxes). BrickLink reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine
whether a certain Non LEGO Item is appropriate for listing.

We distributed worldwide BrickJournal for a few years, and it was accepted and
not a problem.
https://brickjournal.com/

Maybe I'd simply try to sell it because it probably belongs to "These
include literature about LEGO products, LEGO memorabilia" and see if an Admin
will remove it?

Could you play it?

It's not an audio CD. It's a data disc that has a bunch of .pdf files.

or do people mostly default to used parts on that list? I thought this could
help us sellers use better methods of selling somehow.

The part I'm talking about is 3068bpb0929 2x2 map tile. Last six months .27
cents used, compared to .17 cents new.

any thoughts on this ? I've sometimes thought about listing everything used
unless it was a rare part. You would lose money up front but possibly make more
sales ???? Apparently on this part you would make more money. Just a strange
topic I thought would be fun to discuss.

It can happen when a once relatively hard to find part suddenly becomes more
common as it is in a new set. There is often a lag for prices to stabilise especially
if people using wants lists don't care if they overpay a little to get it
all in one order.

Maybe I missed a policy change, but chargebacks have always been allowed. Even
so, they are very rare. I can only recall getting one chargeback for a low-dollar
non-Lego item on another platform, and the buyer was clearly unhinged.

Like others have stated, chargebacks just dont happen very often. Out of all
the sales we have had over the past decade we have had only a few customers file
a chargeback with PayPal and all but one we went ahead and gave a full refund
before PayPal even made a decision because it was obvious by looking at the tracking
info that the order was most likely lost in the mail. The one we did dispute
we won.

Even if the few we had were just people trying to get an order for free, it is
still a small price to pay when you compare that the ratio of orders going bad
verses orders being completed where all ends well is probably one bad for every
3000 good.

With all that being said, I can still appreciate your concern. I still will fret
sometimes when we get an order for high dollar set from a new buyer but we have
yet to have any larger order go bad or get lost in the mail. And when it comes
to first time buyers, we have never had a problem yet.

If I do fill the occasional order where I feel a little apprehensiveness about
the order then I just pay a little extra and buy insurance.

Hi,

You’ll need to open your store as you can’t advertise something that’s not for
sale in your store.
You can set a high minimum value to prevent orders.
Also add a clear announcement on the banner, splash page or terms to explain
you want to sell your whole inventory.

Also, ads (sales & new items for sale) should go to the Sales topic… but selling
an entire store is a bit of an edge case: you’re not advertising to the common
buyer.  I’ll let you decide if you want to post there.
(But the limit is still 1 ad per month to prevent year-long “I’m selling my store”
sales: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1437060 )

Not sure if this is allowed here but I have to unfortunately move away from my
store, so I'm selling everything off.

My store consists of almost 10k pieces, there are no minifigs, I only have some
weapons and accessories, the rest are lego pieces, everything is used. Feel free
to DM me for the BrickStore file. The store fits in 6 Racco drawers, and I have
got one more that is empty, but brand new, I've just taken the packaging
off of it. There are also a few shipping supplies.

The rest is in bulk form, I have A-sorted it and washed it. There is a variety
of parts, and a couple sets that have been taken apart, everything is only used.
There is a total of around 40kg of bulk that I am trying to sell.

Given the quantity, local pickup is preferred, but shipping can also be arranged.
Located in England, UK.
Feel free to DM me for any additional information and images.

seller issues (and resolutions) and selling tips.

What I'm really jittery about is the potential for fraudulent PayPal chargeback
once I begin pushing out orders again. Out of my 776 feedback (775 positive,
1 neutral, and 0 complaint), 510 of the positives were for selling. Even my one
neutral reads "Awesome seller". So I'd like to think, at least, that
a potential buyer will trust me to get their order correct and sent to them in
undamaged condition.

But that, of course, does not stop a handful of buyers from pulling the ol'
chargeback lever despite the fact that they got their order complete and undamaged.
A lot of the posts I've read over the years from high-feedback sellers regarding
this nightmare is that, more often than not, the seller ends up on the losing
side of the dispute. This is the kind of thing that I'd like to avoid or
at least minimize.

Any advice? Any special tools or methods you use to keep fraudulent chargeback

Welcome back, Pat

Anecdotally, never been given reason to worry about the "fraudulent chargeback"
and consequently never have. Just CYA on larger dollar amount orders...

in regards to PayPal chargebacks, I wouldn't worry too much. if you have
tracking then the worst case scenario is you'll get the item back and you'll
be out of the sale (except for very rare cases where they sent something else
back in which case if you wanted you could probably get the law involved) but
in general Paypal claim are extraordinarily rare. I've had 11635 orders on
bricklink, brickowl, and eBay combined since I started selling online about 5+
years ago. in total I've had exactly 1 Paypal case filled against me which
was about 5+ years back and I won that case. in general Paypal cases tho can
be a nightmare when they happen are by no means a common thing

I'm closing in on 8,000 sales and never really had an issue. Use tracking
and paypal really isnt a problem. Of course, others here have way more experience
than me, but i've never really had a problem. Welcome back!

That makes sense, and it's a good thing to keep in mind, esp as my goal is
to lower my inventory so I don't have to move it. Having to figure out what
to do with 25K low value parts I have lingering in my store feels like swapping
one problem for another.

Sold my shop a month or two ago.* My shop was around the same size of your inventory.

I sold it for 24% of my inventory value and it was a great deal.

Don't be tempted by a general sale of 50% or something like that. This
way you only sell the valuable things and are left with the unsellable items.
Good luck!

*By the way, I have continued my store but with a very small number of items
that I can easily handle and without taking up much space.

I'd better make big 50% off sales or such.
Then sell the remaining in batches or any easy way like on eBay...

Otherwise for a full shop, count you'll get LESS than 20% of its current
pricing - and IF someone's ready to invest AND to pick it up, because shipping
may explode the deal. Sincerely, chances are few.

Hello Bricklink, I'm moving across country in a few months and I won't
be taking my store with me so I need to get working on offloading my inventory.
Would prefer to sell the whole lot rather than have a fire sale; would really
like to hear from any others who have had to do the same.

I have created a lot for this part in my stock room and was wondering what I
should list it as. I was thinking $5 but I have only done a little research on
it.

It’s now available for $5.99 on my store.

Hi and thanks.

However I was referring to these discussions elsewhere regarding Lepin.

I believe there was an extensive discussion regarding fake logo bricks on here
where the outcome was that Lego confirmed they were real and not faked Logo bricks.

Lepin may not have been mentioned at the time but clone bricks with Lego logo
were questioned and if I remember correctly someone made an effort to discredit
the so called evidence by asking Lego themselves to examine them.

I may have this confused with another discussion but I don’t think so, someone
please correct me if I’m wrong.

I don't wanna burst your bubble but that is counterfeit. I have seen them
come up a lot in my unsorted lots. They are LEPIN used in their rip off of some
of the Harry Potter sets. If you check I doubt you will find part numbers on
the bottom but they will probably still have a logo but it will likely be rounded
off or smoother. They are likely still printing them from stolen molds that
were supposed to have been destroyed. Another give away is the color mixing of
Bley and Tan which was common of their HP knock offs. I find this a lot in lots
of bulk parts I buy on auctions. Another common version has Red and Dark-Red
marbling also usually with worn logos but no part numbers.

Hi,

What are you calling ‘replacements’?  Stickers not made by LEGO?  That would
be fakes, and therefore forbidden here.

I don't know what it would go for but it's not counterfeit.

Would it be possible to send this to one of the LEGO Customer Service representatives
so that they can tell one way or another?

If done discreetly and through channels, we all could benefit from knowing for
sure if this is genuine or not.

Cheers ...

Would I just send them a email with pictures of the part asking if it genuine
love or not?

Lepin was well known for having the Lego stamped studs...its been a few years
but there was a huge statement about this up on a certain auction site about
the counterfeits having the lego print on certain parts. The HP Castle and their
knock-off of the Executor were two prominent offenders. Often they were even
being listed in "Lego" box art.

I never saw Lupin or any other brand that produces Lego like material using
the Lego logo.
So, in my opinion if it has Lego in or on the studs it truly is Lego. I have
no doubts about this part from looking at the picture.

The more detailed images look less like Lepin...they have the proper shape in
the hollow studs and the plastic is not as translucent or sketchy. It might actually
be a legit piece.

I have always liked the option to use assemblies where it makes sense to do so.
One example is where a specific tire and wheel combo only exists as one exact
example or one color combination. There are very few of those, I think.

After spending time identifying wheels and tires, it can save you a ton of headaches
in the future if you LABEL THEM with the part numbers.

How are you supposed to LABEL tires from a used lot you haven't identified
yet?

True, custom it is.
