Hi all

Received an order the other day, and within 10 minutes the customer cancelled.
Fair enough, no problem - I cancelled the order.

Today had a message from the "Buyer" to say I had sent them a wrong part
- black instead of dark Bluish Grey.

Good try - but no cigar

Have to be alert in this game !!

It was spectacular!! Here in Central Ohio is was forecasted to be cloudy, but
it was not cloudy at all. Superb visibility, and viewed from our own backyard
with the kids, in the path of totality, just over 2 minutes of full eclipse.
Saw Bailey's beads, felt it become chilly, and birds stopped chirping. Also
saw Jupiter and Venus pop up during the totality, just phenomenal. My second
total eclipse (after Germany 1999).

I was mowing but stopped for a bit to watch. Definitely an impressive sight.
We had clouds in the forecast as well but it ended up being pretty clear.

I think it's actually called a prominence when it extends out from the sun
and is seen against the black of space. A friend of our family had a major setup
for the event and pretty much had that same exact image from his camera. So damn
cool.

Very nice for you and son, Randy. Hopefully he'll omit from memory your rendition
of that entirely unremarkable song, from what otherwise seemed an amazing moment
for you both.

Since him and I were singing it together, hugging each other, and looking at
the sky in unison, I think it is safe to say that both of us got exactly what
we wanted from the moment. But thanks for trying to dictate what him and I should
get from our lives. You are such a pox on this forum.

Sorry if it came across to you as such, Randy. Honestly thought it was a nice
moment you shared, which I appreciated very much. Just poking fun at the song
and artist, perhaps awkwardly I admit. Sorry you feel that way about me too.

It was definitely incredible here in Ohio! We were also predicted to have a somewhat
cloudy day, but it was absolutely beautiful out. Bright blue skies and just a
few scattered clouds. Not to mention that we finally had a rather nice warm day
to go with it, too!

Three minutes of totality. Totally awesome.

We had heavy cloud early in the afternoon when we headed out to view. About one
minute before the eclipse started a hole opened up in the clouds and we had good
viewing. Then, just five minutes before totality, the clouds covered it all up.
Since I couldn't see anything above, I just looked around at the 360 degree
sunset instead which was an unforgettable sight.
Suddenly, about half way through totality the cloud moved, and there it was,
the whole thing, with the corona. The crowd went wild. A minute later, after
totality had passed, the clouds all disappeared and the rest of the eclipse was
in clear skies.

Very nice! Aligned with how I've understood astronomers throughout the day,
relate the event: The absents of blue and green in the spectrum, allowing for
more of the sun's corona and flares into the visible light. Wonderful pic!
Thanks.

I always forget how the light gets "grayish". Due to a multitude of
issues with the kids, my wife deciding to run away from work to join us, traffic
and such, we ended up about 45 miles short of my planned location. I had about
3 minutes to set up - and I hate rushing - but it was worth it to share the experience
with the whole family. now they get what i've been going on and on about
the past 7 years.

In West Virginia it got just dark enough for the street lights to come on for
about 2 mins. Lots of clouds but was super neat.

My phone couldn't capture a good photo to save its life, but it was nice
to see. The orange on the horizon never let it get too dark. Skies were partly
cloudy by Cleveland. I got about 2 and a half minutes of darkness, minus street
lights that automatically turned on. Cheers,

We had clear skies and a great view here in Chicago. Amazing how much light there
still was when all but a sliver of the sun was covered.

That's us! We're in an RV, in a makeshift campground just south of Uvalde,
Texas. Had a beautiful evening last night. Dark clear skies and we managed to
see the comet (with binoculars). It was close to the horizon, and hard to pick
out, so we're hoping it will be clearer during the eclipse today as it will
be high above the horizon.

But. The forecast here is not good. We will probably just see clouds. We're
keeping our fingers crossed. Luckily we have 10 days of driving throught desert
doing some hiking and mountain biking afterward, so we'll have some fun with
or without the eclipse.

For the pathway that will allow you to experience the event more fully across
North America, check online. Nasa among others, offers a fun accounting.

What we learned during our adventurous years in the national park areas of Southern
Utah: set the target or goal out as motivation, but make (time and effort) the
journey itself, the real experience. So many of our backcountry treks
had amazing destinations set-out. But our memories (kids and I) when relived,
seem to always be of the journeys, the unplanned experiences.

I am in the path of totality! Yeah! They are warning us that traffic will be
bad and they are getting the hospitals ready for the fools who don't wear
the "glasses" and any traffic accidents due to the crowds. All the schools
will be closed and restaurants will close for 15 minutes to give all workers
a chance to go outside and see it.

Very cool! Sounds festive.

What is sad is that in the town of Lakeview, where an EF3 tornado recently hit,
the hotels are making all the tornado victims leave the hotels so they can rent
the rooms for exorbitant prices to the tourists coming in for totality viewing.

The hotel owners may want to reconsider if they've been accepting in any
form, FEMA funds A lot of strings are attached to Fed money.

Yeah, such a turnaround in total eclipses is historically unusual. The one prior
to your 2017 experience, was 38 years earlier in 1979. Making this one that much
more special, imho.

As to your acquired "x-ray vision": turn it inward to find out what's
gone wrong What I might do with that ability

Total solar eclipse will take place at the Moon's ascending node, that is
where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north, on Monday the 8th. In
two days across the North America continent

For the pathway that will allow you to experience the event more fully across
North America, check online. Nasa among others, offers a fun accounting.

Took me 40 years to see my first one. When I was younger I didn't think
about traveling for them and living in the midwest we'd always be clouded
in. So I drove down to Nashville'ish to sit directly on the centerline and
it was like getting punched in the soul.

We're lucky enough to have it skirt by just outside of Cincinnati this year
but I'll still drive a little further in to Indiana depending on the weather.
Still trying to figure out a kitschy sale promo as I'll leave the store
open but not be processing orders that day.

Wish I could join you

Received reply: he'll be in Uvalde, TX.

I received him & his family home here at our place last summer.
But for day to day work, Discord is very convenient.
Sometimes a couple phone calls; they don't live really close to us, I mean,
for our french standards (few hundred kms).

Very cool! Please and with your friend's permission, share with us their
experience on Monday.

I gave him the link of this thread, he's an active member here of course.
If he can't post, I'll pass the messsage.

Fun fact, source Twitter AirDNA:

A friend of us, US citizen living in France, who designs Sets with us is in US
as of right now.

He rented a camping car and is in the desert, just to see the eclipse!

Curiously, desert and camping car now makes me think to something else

Very cool!

But if you're in contact with them, tell them to move out of our deserts
a bit more easterly To get the full effect.

Discorded, thanks!

Feeling foolish, but what is "Discorded?"

Oh, some invented verb meaning sent using Discord - sorry.

BTW Discord's free and very fine to manage projects within few users for
example. Also used as a channel of communication arund a subject, any.
