Perfect.

I can submit images for the exact books if that helps.

I don't think either of your books are in the catalog in those exact versions,
so you will need to add them.

Not sure how to handle the box card insert with minifigures, should it be separate
entry/entries and the contents of the pack be all three items, or is it to be
ignored and only 2 books and 2 figures ?

Ignore that part. It is just packaging material. The inventory will be the two
books and two figures. 👍

I have gone ahead and zeroed out the inventory of the box set so that you can
enter it from scratch from "Sealed Set Contents" once we get everything
in place.

Let me know if you need anything else, Stuart.

Cheers,
Randy

Should the box card be entered, if so, empty or with figures ?

If both then I’d have to add two entries and a content list for a card with figures.

The catalog image is just a standard marketing render, so it does not look like
the actual item. If yours has the same ISBN (9781409382478), then that is the
right entry. The inventory of the box set is also incomplete.

The set consists of a box card with 2 figures and 2 books, books being an alternative
print, smaller in size and thickness, no figure cutouts.

Image one is outer box.

Second image is box card with 2 figures.

Third and fourth are the alternative book versions.

Fifth shows shrink wrap still in place.

Very nice.

Just sat on the harbour wall with my wife drinking coffee at a mobile vendor
truck located in Mevagissey before moving to the seaward side of the harbour
wall, the view was uplifting.

The sea was so calm, the sun shining and the coast illuminated, sadly I didn’t
have a camera.

It was so quiet, very few people around and a very friendly dog, it appeared
to be a Labrador ridgeback cross, strange combination.

Really felt like spring, something I’ve been looking forward to, making the most
of everything whilst I can.

Sunshine, comes to mind. It really can make you feel good! Especially after it's
been gone a few weeks, replaced with rain and overcast skies. A very chilly but
sunshiny workout day, finally. Don’t mind the cold at all if I can have the strong
sun's rays on my face

Across the Puget sound there, you can make out the Olympic Mountain range clearly
today. Though maybe not so much with the pic file reduction It's very picturesque
within that range, and consequently there have been several film and TV productions
shot therein over the years, Twilight films among them.

Have a wonderful day

Just checked dimensions of individual books shown as contents of this item and
they alone equal 5.0 cm, width of outer box/sleeve 4.5cm.

They can’t fit.

My sleeve matches size shown in catalogue and I’m not sure of the image shown,
does it show images or actual figures ?

If they are figures then it suggests that the wrong books are listed as contents
and they should be the ones I have.

I’m guessing you mean slot in English.

There is no difference in function and the slot was just a production variation,
once separated into two distinct parts but later merged as slot serves no purpose.

Anyone here had any trouble with buyers for this set of 16 new sealed ?

About to add a large number of collectable minifigures, not sure about selling
series 1 due to value.

Not had much trouble so far but thought I’d get your views.

They are identified by barcode and if my memory serves me right they are North
American.

Stick with it, it’s a great place but does have many people with strong views
which they like to express, no reference to who you are responding to, just a
general comment.

I’ve always been against the changes as I like as much detail as possible in
anything I do.

Expressed early on that nothing said would change much if anything so I’ve left
everyone to it.

Don’t let it put you off BL, despite some attitudes, decisions, members etc it
is still a great site.

In General, rickcraine writes:

there are clearly members here using second accounts to strengthen the voice of their own opinion in the forum?

Buuuut . . . how clear is it really? Is your bias toward approval of the decision
causing you to make mildly outrageous and clearly unsupported claims, perhaps
augmented by your surprise at being significantly in the minority?

How is it possible that so many replies against the variant merge are from people
with barely any feedback yet they still appear to have the
highest/most complex level of understanding

You joined this website 11 years after me, yet you have nearly 10 times the feedback
I do. Does your higher level of feedback mean that your opinion is more meaningful
than mine?

Member SylvainLS, who is affiliated with the website itself as a forum moderator,
has a feedback score of merely 46, even though he joined in 2014. Another person
affiliated with the site as a catalog expert (Turez) has an even lower feedback
score of only 43 and he joined the site two years earlier in 2012.

Therefore, I can only assume you must be referring to really low feedback
scores. In fact, I have decided to assume you mean scores of 10 or fewer feedback.
I went through the entire list of replies to the main post and there were only
11 members with such a low feedback score (see analysis below).

So these are the 11 accounts you are accusing of being duplicates and asking
site administration to investigate, correct?

I am one of the 11 accounts you mentioned...and I will put this into the forum
to make things clear...
I am relatively new to Bricklink, as I have said before. This account is even
newer, which I have also said before, and which I have also explained why already
(in short, the old one wasn't really mine).
What I don't understand is that whoever started this thread seems to not
realize the fact that you can be a Lego fan and not be on Bricklink. (But when
a hardcore Lego fan joins a place like Bricklink, they want things to be as detailed
as possible. Does the majority want the detail or even care? I am not asking
that again.)I am just pointing out the fact there is more than enough viable
reasons for people like me to be on the forum, voicing their opinion.
And these people may care for various reasons. Why did I argue against the variant
merge? Not because I collect old stuff, but because I saw some of the changes
as unnecessary happenstances. I saw it as a change that would annoy and frustrate
a small percentage of the population, and not benefit the majority enough to
be worth changing what was in place.
I've watched the forum since the argument, and now read through most of the
stuff that goes on here. Obviously, however, I should not be doing this, since
new faces (that really care about Lego!) are not accepted on this apparently
elitist website...

(...) The LEGO designers tried several things, and as a result there are two very different
versions of the 2x4 Jumbo brick x1446. (...)

I think that we should consider splitting these parts in the catalog. That would
only add two parts, which can be easily identified. They would be the alternate
versions for:

Part No: x1446 Name: Jumbo Brick 2 x 4
*
x1446 Jumbo Brick 2 x 4
Parts: Jumbo Bricks

Part No: x1447c01 Name: Jumbo Vehicle Base 4 x 8 with Red Wheels and Pull String
*
x1447c01 Jumbo Vehicle Base 4 x 8 with Red Wheels and Pull String
Parts: Jumbo Bricks

The inventory updates would be very easy to make, there was no mixed use because
the bricks are not compatible.

The x1447c01 might have used a different color 3001oldb on the end of the string,
but I have not been able to confirm that yet. I would explain 3001oldb-bricks
that have been found.

Part No: 3001oldb Name: Brick 2 x 4 without Cross Supports, with Hole in Top
*
3001oldb Brick 2 x 4 without Cross Supports, with Hole in Top
Parts: Brick

The x1447c01 still need an inventory consisting of the cart, string and 3001oldb.
Sadly, I don't have one yet.

I'm a casual picker. I recently saw this lego set at a thrift store and purchased

Opinions?
I do not have a lot of money to my name a mere 300 dollars in my bank and I could
really use the help with figuring out how to get this to a good home. So I can
also keep surviving.

I was also told to contact lego to ask if they needed this for their vault. I
messaged them but no word back just yet. People were talking about how Lego might
buy it from me or trade me something for it? I could use a job :p

In your opinion what would you buy this for?
I think this is worth at most 300 usd. But it might be worth more to the right
buyer.
This oddly came with blue bricks as well. Maybe this is a packaging mistake?

5. 'Regular' Brown
6. Slightly clearer Brown
7. Some dark red that is not completely opaque
8. Some dull brown

9. How does one separate all of these colors. I have a daytime job, and do not
get sun 24/7 ?
10. How bad is color variability?
11. Did TLG really need to produce that many colors?
12. I reckon many men have some inherent color blindness ...

I doubt you can do anything about it unless buyer changes feedback themselves,
bad luck.

Haven’t checked your feedback, just assume you’ve already had a bad feedback
recently.

Wouldn’t be a problem for me, pet hairs are so good at sneaking in here and there
and as you say, it is in your terms.

Might be better to make the warning more obvious.

We don’t call our non metallic currency bills either, we call them notes.

I say non metallic because our notes are now plastic.

In General, runner.caller writes:

In 2021, the name on this part changed from "100 dollar bill" to "100
paper bill"... seems like an odd move to me.

Certainly made it harder to search.

And maybe other regions or countries would refer to it as a "100 paper
bill" or the feeling is that "paper" is more generic bc not every
country's currency is a called a "dollar", but I feel like that could
have been added to the "dollar bill" verbiage.

The part appears to have had the same name from 2001 to 2021, so I think there
should be more consideration put into changing the name on parts with established
names.

Due to pressures on their delivery system, not enough mail, they are looking
at becoming a third rate service.

Nothing decided but toying with the idea of only three deliveries per week, seriously
!

Probably proposing three days so that when they reduce it by one day it looks
like a good compromise, mind games as usual.

For those older like myself, remember when we had two deliveries a day ?

Yes, I could wait for payment before buying the shipping label, but all of that

Should we just ignore all new buyers with zero feedback?

I'd hate to tarnish their reputation and give a negative feedback, but at

It might be suggested by some, that these aren’t needed as they don’t look or

Sorry if this has been mentioned already.

Mint sauce on a beef burger, not for me.

On most other things, great.

Don’t knock mint sauce, it’s one of my favourites, more so than mustard.

Now I want a roast, lamb, vegetables and mashed potato all smothered in a meaty
gravy and a strong mint sauce, nothing better.

parts, and then the missing parts are mailed and those come up missing.

Basically almost all the bad reviews are claiming the order or replacements never

Almost every reply is a version of "too bad, so sad". I find a
hard time believing this person isn't just ripping people off.

I've shipped, goodness, 6k parcels at least between various platforms and
I've had only 2 vanish. So will someone vouch for this person or are they

Community vote won’t work, sadly.

We are seeing what I believe to be an overwhelming number of no change views
here on the forum but that represents a small percentage of total members and
that won’t be accepted.

If you by some miracle, could get the main membership to vote then I believe
the majority wouldn’t care, how the yes and the no vote would break down is anyone’s
guess.

Not hazarding a guess at percentages, unlike some, as these are just plucked
from the air, that’s how I see it anyway.

Sadly I don’t see how any amount of “no” messages here will make any difference,
not helped by inaccurate interpretations of proposals.

Very sad time for the collectors, set rebuilders and historians etc as I see
it, this makes finding the right part for them far more difficult.

Yes you can add notes which will be difficult to find and time consuming.

You can ask the seller, who may or may not like answering, takes time and
effort just like sorting correct variations.

Asking questions can earn you a place on a stop list, we have seen posts on here
asking why they (the buyer) were stop listed for asking if they have the exact
part.

We also see posts defending this from sellers saying they are too busy to spend
time answering fussy or difficult buyers ( their opinion ).

People will also say “it’s the sellers loss, take your money elsewhere”, not
always possible.

I am apprehensive that many more will be added to merging lists, after all it’ll
come down to a few people deciding what is an isn’t valid anymore.

Very little if anything said here will make any difference as the fall back will
be that the forum is not representative, that I can’t argue with.

  Hello Bricklink-Team,

I appreciate all the work you do for the LEGO community, but please consider
to not put this change to the database in place. A better way IMHO would be to
filter/consolidate part variants in the UI for buyers and sellers who don't
care, but as an option allow people to list/get a specific variant if they want
to. Please don't strip the detailed data the community has collected over
all the years out of your database. At least consider a community vote on the
issue.

In Catalog, Admin_Russell writes:
  Hello everyone,

As a platform, we have decided to take a hard look at some of the mold variants
that we are currently asking you to recognize. For sellers, more variants means
extra sorting and extra work while pulling orders, plus the issues that arise
from variant misunderstandings.

For buyers, excess variants mean that it's harder to assemble a wanted list,
find stores, and ultimately obtain the parts you are looking for.

I have put together a quick Help page to outline these proposed changes:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2625

Notice the date on this is coming up quickly (Feb 1), so I'm not giving a
lot of time for discussion. I'm aiming for about 1 week of discussion and
then we'll give sellers 2 weeks to adjust the descriptions on affected items
if they wish to retain the distinctions.

I plan to construct a full FAQ page with answers to all your questions. This
will serve to inform users about what was done here in February 2024, and also
help point the catalog in the right direction in the future.

To get started, I'll list a few here:

1. This sounds like you're dumbing down the BrickLink catalog to make
it easier for new users. Is that what is going on?

Not really. There are many, many other variants we expect people to sort and
care about. These ones don't really seem to matter much, and some of them
(e.g., the minifigure heads) actually cause problems for the catalog that cannot
be corrected otherwise.

2. What if I really care about a certain variant that is going away? Can I
still buy and sell that variant?

Absolutely! You can add notes to your listings to make them as "determined"
as you wish. Buyers can still search within notes for extra details, or they
can simply observe them as they browse listings.

3. How do I know which exact variants will be merged? I only see one example
in each category.

Please ask in this thread and I can be very specific. Usually we are talking
about a handful of parts and the printed versions.

4. Has a merge like this ever been done before?

Yes, there was a precedent - the Headlight Brick with Slot:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1016584

It was marked for deletion a few years ago and was finally merged last August.

5. Are these the only parts up for consideration, or are there other variants
that will be merged as well?

This is all for now. Based on how well this goes, we may elect to remove other
entries later. However, we will keep all functional variants and important cosmetic
variants.

If you have two lots , one for each of two variations ( different part numbers
) that are to be changed then you will still have two lots in your store.

They will then both have the same part number, it will not merge lots.

You will need to merge these if you do not want them separated any longer or
you have to add a note to the changed item/s if you want separate entries to
show that they are not exactly the same.
