“No tracking and no responsibility for lost mail”
In your terms which you may want to update. Sellers are fully responsible for
all the packages they ship out so if a package without insurance and/or tracking
is sent out and gets lost you will have to fully refund the buyer
|
Oh, I forgot to write that I will refund the order, but in some stores I saw
negative reviews because of lost packages that got refunded.
|
Some buyers will still be unhappy and leave neutral/negative so writing in the
terms that they can’t unfortunately won’t really help sorry to say

| | There are common scenarios in which a seller might consider setting an order
sent as “Completed” A few, and just off-the-top-of-my-head, sure there are more
valid reasons…
1) Buyer leaves positive feedback, but doesn’t change the order status from “Shipped”
2) Buyer leaves positive feedback and changes the status to “Received” thinking
that’s it. Fairly common, actually.
3) Buyer contacts seller thanking them for the LEGO and offers praise of service
and/or product, without changing the status from “Shipped” or “Received”.
4) Buyer and seller are in communication over an order issue, which concludes
with the buyer expressing complete satisfaction with the transaction, again without
bothering to change the status.
In short, there's a good many LEGO fans that simply don’t know, don’t
care or don’t care to know about 'order status duties’ Many just wish to
buy LEGO and that’s it. Which is fine. The changing of order status by the seller
just helps a vendor to clean things up a bit, to stay organized.
Opinion based on my experience over the years, and obviously not that some others.

Over the course of this discussion, I have come across some good arguments for
doing things one way or another, which will in turn help me and anyone else reading
it to make ever more informed choices. It's very evident that eveyone's
own experience has been different, and that not everything is plainly black or
white. To think, it all started from a simple announcement that my store is now
open, having since morphed into something else entirely. Hopefully, someone along
the way will actually take an interest in the inventory.

If the "Completed" status is for Buyers only, why are sellers allowed
to change it?
Any graybeards care to weigh in?

Just a heads up you have this
“ Orders not marked as completed by the buyer within 30 days of being marked
as shipped by the seller will, barring any additional communication, automatically
be closed under the assumption that the transaction went smoothly.”
In your terms. You should never ever marked an order complete unless it is an
order you placed. Yes sellers have the option to mark an order as complete but
it should never be done. Only the buyer can truly know when it’s done. I’ve placed
orders and it’s multiple times taken multiples weeks+ to go thru them and if
the seller marked it as complete and messed it up or annoyed a buyer that can
result in a buyer leaving negative feedback. Yes many orders will never be marked
as received or complete and even more will never have feedback left buts it’s
ok none are required and you don’t need to worry about it if you don’t want
to see the order you can file it and it will disappear
|
Well, thank you for the suggestions, everyone. In light of some details I had
not initially been made aware of, I've relaxed the wording in the terms somewhat.
However, I don't think it's unreasonable to set some expectation
on the part of the buyer, whether or not they choose to honour it. I will stick
to filing orders rather than actually completing them, now that it's been
made clear that this isn't a required step.

While I appreciate this copy-and-paste from some of your other posts, this consideration
was not an arbitrary one. I did my research before setting up the store, and
this was something I gleaned from those with more experience than me. It's
specifically there in the terms to set the expectation beforehand and will only
go into effect after there have reasonable attempts to communicate first, which
is also noted.

This means buyers will just go straight to PayPal and file their complaint there,
without giving you the opportunity to resolve it. That could end up costing you
significantly more than replacing or refunding whatever the problem is.

bad idea, unless you don't mind a few neutral/negative feedbacks from doing
so.

Best of luck with many unhappy customers 🤷♂️ even a guy with over 50k feedback
says it’s a bad idea. You said “gleaned from more experience then you” but not
ever seller has the right terms. Countless stores say they arnt responsible for
lost shipments yet they are fully responsible as an example.

I'm not sure what the purpose of the seller setting to Complete after a certain
amount of time has passed is.
|
Monomaniac?
Having the feeling it's closed and done forever?

Of course not, they can't know the meaning of this status, who set it up,
when, and so on.
As a seller, you can still get a claim or a chargeback up to 6 months after the
sale

Most of your buyers will not read your terms. And you expect them to follow
an arbitrary time frame to mark an order complete, but you don't commit to
a time frame for invoicing or shipping.
People need to let go of this order complete marking. I am old school and will
mark an order complete, I usually skip the received option as I get it done right
away. But I have been using this site a long time when feedback was more important.

| Several years ago I used numerous Bricklink sellers to complete that favorite
set that I never got when it was out in stores.
I used the LEGO online instructios to develope parts list the end result was
a labor of love that is THE MALEVOLENCE, set #9515. Photo attached.
I also needed a "side hustle" that may one day develope into something
more to help fund my kids college aspirations. (They definitely got their brains
from my wife's gene pool.)
I opened Blue Dragonfly Bricks on Bricklink on July 19th last year. Now after
being open for just over 6 months I look forward to each day that I add more
to my store.
Thank you to LEGO for Bricklink and for those helping me to realize a dream and
build for my kids futures.
Sincerely,

Dang, didn't realize this.
Far too tired!
Then the verification not completed may be the problem here, as OP said!

I am selling for years only on brickowl and am starting since few weeks on bricklink
to also sell. Until now the experience as a sellers is frustrating compared to
buying on bricklink.

No idea, sorry.
I can see an error:
"La ressource à l’adresse « https://www.bricklink.com/notFound.asp?nf=store&mFolder=b&mSub=b
» a été bloquée par OpaqueResponseBlocking. Raison : « Javascript validation
failed »."
With notFound.asp...
Also this problem with the feedbacks showing you've got no feedback.
If it's not a problem (and not a verification problem), I may:
* save on your PC a copy of everything (Terms, make screen copies of your shop
settings etc),
* progressively remove (empty) everything like About, Terms, shipping methods,
even payment methods, pics, ...
To see if something's blocking it, because it may show something's missing
(notFound.asp)?
Please don't break everything and tell me I said it I'm really tired
as of right now, and can't think clearly.
Very sorry.

I think it does has something to do with the Selling verification. When I switched
to the XP variant on my shop it said store is closed since 14th November, and
there it wasn't even possible to click on checkout (which is possible on
other stores). Also shipping said TBD, while I have flat shipping rates.
I closed the store and than tried to open again, but couldn't it said to
complete seller Verification, but I have done that. Or the Admin only opened
my shop again, but the seller verification was still open, but I can not change
or add anything in it.
Step 1: Add shipping methods
COMPLETE
Step 2: Add inventory to your store
COMPLETE
Step 3: Submit required documentation
APPROVED
Once we receive your Seller Verification request, we will review the information
and contact you

your allowed to open a second account for testing

Russell said it in forum somewhere.
I guess for legitimately and only trying to debug your own shop not working,
I can't see why it wouldn't be possible.

| | I did log 5 minutes in on work in my account during the day I got suspended.
Could that have been the issue?
|
If logging into bricklink during work was an issue, BL would have dispatched
an assassination team by now to take me out.

I tried disconnecting the Stripe, because that was already giving an error as
stated before.
But still the same issue when trying to proceed to checkout.
Kind regards,

I tried, and yes there's a problem.
When clicking "Proceed to Checkout" the page loops back to the shop.
Weird.
Let me try a test.

Maybe all the non-ascii characters in the store name.

There are quest to Stripe (csp-report) which may try to connect to Stripe, but
your shop doesn't provide stripe, and they generate errors.
Did at one moment you tried to register to Stripe and associate your shop to
a shop account?
Maybe it's not completed, not working, then everything breaks.
Try to clear any Stripe association here:
