That's funny, my page says 'A fresh new look for My BL is here!
Check out our new, efficient design! You can switch back to the original view
at any time.'
I guess I've never used any of the 'new' pages. They are all too

Agreed, but I'd rather it didn't waste the space saying it, we both have

No. If buyer wants a change it is usually just the odd brick. I just refund
it and eat the fraction of a penny in fees rather than spend the time going through
the form. Life is too short for that. If it were expensive it might be different.
It's not as if you get the PayPal fee back anyway.

They have been equally distributed for some time now. Sealed cartons contain
three sets. So if you are first to a box, then then each character should be
evenly distributed. Whereas if you get to a box where someone has weighed them,
there is a possibility that someone has removed popular ones for resale or
their collection. That is less likely to happen now there is a more significant
barrier compared to the feeling approach of identifying them.

I still miss the first two series, where you could memorise the barcode pattern

| I've a few coincidences out of the thousands of orders I've had.
My family lives spread out over the UK, I have had orders from someone who lives
on my dad's road, my sister's road and the road I grew up on. None of
these buyers know us.
I have also had a sale from a guy who I was in the process of buying from eBay.
For the same value as well, which confused me enormously looking at my paypal
account.
One thing that hasn't happened but would be great is to make a sale to a
buyer that I know from outside the lego world.

When you add stock to your store there is a 'send out wanted list notification'
button.
As a buyer you can opt to be notified when sellers list items on your wanted
lists.
|
|
Sending you contact details of users who match your parts on their wanted lists
would definitely be a huge data breach.
If your store has a decent range and attractive prices, buyers will find you
quickly enough.

I have set # 7720. It was sitting in the basement for years. There is corrosion
on the metal conductors. I have used white vinegar and baking soda paste which
worked a bit. I also tried Coke but that was not so successful. I popped all
new batteries in and it is not working. There’s still some corrosion so that
might be the problem. Has anyone ever had this issue? What did you use? Did it
work when you were done?
I would appreciate any advice. I would hate to just have to part out this classic

| | Excuse me but why does most every member on this discussion page shoot me down
for having an opinion or problem?????? I am in my 40s and don't need this.
Everyone else can have a an opinion. I am sorry if I don't know everything
about selling or rules. A seller can issue a coupon whenever they want so what
does it matter about telling a potential buyer about it? Why does everyone have
an attitude about everything? Don't worry I won't post ANYTHING again
on this discussion page.
|
I think the problem isn't 'telling a potential buyer about it'.
More like 'telling existing buyers that if they act in a way beneficial to
you, then you will offer them things others can't get.'
I have to say I tried a similar coupon when buyers marked orders as complete
when I first started selling. I quickly stopped as it made little to no difference
to the store and I felt it wasn't worth the admin time. These days I rarely
bother with coupons except as an occasional GOGW or a thank you to someone who
has helped me out.

It can if the positive feedback percentage is rounded like other numbers on BL.
20000+ positives should wipe out a non-positive feedback in the percentage.
|
I would prefer it if the feedback % was based on the feedback from the last year.
Stores can get better (or worse) over time. That was one neutral from 5 years
ago won't hurt a currently well performing store, but a store with 5k feedback
but a rash of recent negs will show it up.

to ones one liking
- ..... (feel free to add )
I think that kind of update/upgrades are way more effective !
|
I really like the idea of more checkboxes to show hide posts rather than having
to moderate the posts themselves.
The problem with not displaying posts below a user defined feedback threshold
is that it is by definition placing barriers to new members. Bricklink is not
a simple marketplace to find your way round and the forum is the ideal place
for new members to come to for help. If experienced users are e.g. blocking
posts from all under 3 feedback from displaying, then that help will be much
harder to come by. Last thing we want to be doing is putting off new potential
buyers.
I still feel we should have a block / report post button actually in the forum
itself, rather than having to jump through hoops to feedback on things.

maybe a simple Poll would be something needed to see what the Community thinks.
Poll:
Which option would you prefer as a Spamming Solution
A? nothing, Raw Spam is Delicious!
B) require a Pay-To-Play Positive Feedback, similar to the Seller Requirement
C) require new users to be Verified by some Official Secondary means w/ Bricklink.
D) ban Zero Feedback Members from posting URL Links in the Forum.
E) allow Zero Feedback Members Limited Forum Access that is a Moderator Only
visiblie / Replies Enabled post
being fair, let's say leave poll open for 1 week...
to give occational forum readers a chance to participate, if they want too.
please just give a simple letter vote, no harrassing others for their vote. we

I think Option "D" is the best of the bunch. It may not eliminate all
spam, but it should help to reduce it significantly. It's the least restrictive
and wouldn't require Mods to oversee. However I'd still lke a "Report
Post" button for every post on the BL forum, so that spam/abusive etc. posts
can be identified and removed quickly by Mods.
|
Agreed, this would be my preference also. Having said that 'stay logged
in on this device' has been broken for 5 years, so I wouldn't expect
coding changes on the forum to happen any time soon.

Hmm, there used to be a “Why your antispam idea won’t work” checklist for e-mail.
We need one for forums
So, to answer a few suggestions:
— Preventing newbies from asking questions on the forum is not very welcoming,
is it?
— Limiting newbies’ number of posts: most spammers only post once per account
anyway.
— The two previous ideas are worse when “newbie” is defined by feedback instead
of time.
— Captcha: most spammers here are human.
— Location filtering: nope, won’t do.
— Keyword filtering: I want to be able to talk about gummy bears and the new
Ford Escort set!
Silver lining: (most) forum regulars have now learned how to report posts
|
It would be easier if there were a report post option along with View/Cancel/Reply
on the forum rather than having to go through the problem centre and dig out
the message number.
It's easier to just ignore the spam and move on rather than report the user.

If you are paying in $ and the buyer only takes € for example the payment won't

Same reason as before. Where names diverge, ours are usually more descriptive.
And we want as little disruption as necessary to members' understanding

It would be cool, though, if Bricklink had an official matching chart and maybe
the ability to toggle the color names in options.

The whole LBG/Stone grey thing is fine, but green/dark green would be way too
confusing, and I definitely don't want to start calling tan 'brick yellow'.

What would you report to Bricklink? There was an error in the order which needs
to be addressed. At the end of the day it's down to you to sort it.
Mistakes happen, I know they do in my store, but at the end of the day if someone
buys something and doesn't get what they ordered you risk getting bad feedback.
You can of course mitigate this by responding quickly and politely and dealing
generously with them. The feedback is going to reflect how the buyer FEELS about
the transaction, not necessarily what physically happened.
You say you haven't replied yet. I would definitely reply quickly, whatever
action you are going to take.
