That's funny, my page says 'A fresh new look for My BL is here!
Check out our new, efficient design! You can switch back to the original view
at any time.'

I guess I've never used any of the 'new' pages. They are all too
spread out and bright.

Agreed, but I'd rather it didn't waste the space saying it, we both have
chosen the one that we like years ago.

No. If buyer wants a change it is usually just the odd brick. I just refund
it and eat the fraction of a penny in fees rather than spend the time going through
the form. Life is too short for that. If it were expensive it might be different.
It's not as if you get the PayPal fee back anyway.

If they are essentially random I hope the distribution is even. Feeling through
the packets sometimes got me the minifigure I was after. I still ended up with
lots of duplicates because my fingers aren't as sensitive as they should
be.

They have been equally distributed for some time now. Sealed cartons contain
three sets. So if you are first to a box, then then each character should be
evenly distributed. Whereas if you get to a box where someone has weighed them,
there is a possibility that someone has removed popular ones for resale or
their collection. That is less likely to happen now there is a more significant
barrier compared to the feeling approach of identifying them.

I still miss the first two series, where you could memorise the barcode pattern
and get what you want.

I've a few coincidences out of the thousands of orders I've had.

My family lives spread out over the UK, I have had orders from someone who lives
on my dad's road, my sister's road and the road I grew up on. None of
these buyers know us.

I have also had a sale from a guy who I was in the process of buying from eBay.
For the same value as well, which confused me enormously looking at my paypal
account.

One thing that hasn't happened but would be great is to make a sale to a
buyer that I know from outside the lego world.

thanks a lot, I see I have done that (sometimes), and whilst it says 4000 have

we are limiting our shipping to UK only

Is there a GDPR or other reason why they cant share interest parties USer ID
to make direct approaches?

Any other helpful selling tips would be gratefully received...! so much cheaper
than EBAY here ! their fees are extortionate when you add promotion, its around
25% in total.

When you add stock to your store there is a 'send out wanted list notification'
button.

As a buyer you can opt to be notified when sellers list items on your wanted
lists.

Sending you contact details of users who match your parts on their wanted lists
would definitely be a huge data breach.

If your store has a decent range and attractive prices, buyers will find you
quickly enough.

  Hello!

I’m hoping that someone can offer some suggestions that I have not tried yet.
I have set # 7720. It was sitting in the basement for years. There is corrosion
on the metal conductors. I have used white vinegar and baking soda paste which
worked a bit. I also tried Coke but that was not so successful. I popped all
new batteries in and it is not working. There’s still some corrosion so that
might be the problem. Has anyone ever had this issue? What did you use? Did it
work when you were done?

I would appreciate any advice. I would hate to just have to part out this classic
set.

Karen

Have you tried a fibre glass pen?

Excuse me but why does most every member on this discussion page shoot me down
for having an opinion or problem?????? I am in my 40s and don't need this.
Everyone else can have a an opinion. I am sorry if I don't know everything
about selling or rules. A seller can issue a coupon whenever they want so what
does it matter about telling a potential buyer about it? Why does everyone have
an attitude about everything? Don't worry I won't post ANYTHING again
on this discussion page.

I think the problem isn't 'telling a potential buyer about it'.
More like 'telling existing buyers that if they act in a way beneficial to
you, then you will offer them things others can't get.'

I have to say I tried a similar coupon when buyers marked orders as complete
when I first started selling. I quickly stopped as it made little to no difference
to the store and I felt it wasn't worth the admin time. These days I rarely
bother with coupons except as an occasional GOGW or a thank you to someone who
has helped me out.

No matter how many other Positive FB a seller accumulates, their FB score can
never go back to 100 percent, just because of one Neutral FB.

It can if the positive feedback percentage is rounded like other numbers on BL.
20000+ positives should wipe out a non-positive feedback in the percentage.

I would prefer it if the feedback % was based on the feedback from the last year.
Stores can get better (or worse) over time. That was one neutral from 5 years
ago won't hurt a currently well performing store, but a store with 5k feedback
but a rash of recent negs will show it up.

Instead of placing barriers for all kinds of members to enter, I would like to
see the forum updated with the following options to swithc on/off at a personal
level:

- sales from countries/sellers that DO NOT ship to me
- posts from members below a treshold of feedback where the treshold can be entered
to ones one liking
- ..... (feel free to add )

I think that kind of update/upgrades are way more effective !

I really like the idea of more checkboxes to show hide posts rather than having
to moderate the posts themselves.

The problem with not displaying posts below a user defined feedback threshold
is that it is by definition placing barriers to new members. Bricklink is not
a simple marketplace to find your way round and the forum is the ideal place
for new members to come to for help. If experienced users are e.g. blocking
posts from all under 3 feedback from displaying, then that help will be much
harder to come by. Last thing we want to be doing is putting off new potential
buyers.

I still feel we should have a block / report post button actually in the forum
itself, rather than having to jump through hoops to feedback on things.

maybe a simple Poll would be something needed to see what the Community thinks.

Poll:

Which option would you prefer as a Spamming Solution

A? nothing, Raw Spam is Delicious!
B) require a Pay-To-Play Positive Feedback, similar to the Seller Requirement
C) require new users to be Verified by some Official Secondary means w/ Bricklink.
D) ban Zero Feedback Members from posting URL Links in the Forum.
E) allow Zero Feedback Members Limited Forum Access that is a Moderator Only
visiblie / Replies Enabled post

being fair, let's say leave poll open for 1 week...
to give occational forum readers a chance to participate, if they want too.

please just give a simple letter vote, no harrassing others for their vote. we
are a Civilized Lego Society.

I think Option "D" is the best of the bunch. It may not eliminate all
spam, but it should help to reduce it significantly. It's the least restrictive
and wouldn't require Mods to oversee. However I'd still lke a "Report
Post" button for every post on the BL forum, so that spam/abusive etc. posts
can be identified and removed quickly by Mods.

Agreed, this would be my preference also. Having said that 'stay logged
in on this device' has been broken for 5 years, so I wouldn't expect
coding changes on the forum to happen any time soon.

Hmm, there used to be a “Why your antispam idea won’t work” checklist for e-mail.
We need one for forums
So, to answer a few suggestions:

— Preventing newbies from asking questions on the forum is not very welcoming,
is it?
— Limiting newbies’ number of posts: most spammers only post once per account
anyway.
— The two previous ideas are worse when “newbie” is defined by feedback instead
of time.
— Captcha: most spammers here are human.
— Location filtering: nope, won’t do.
— Keyword filtering: I want to be able to talk about gummy bears and the new
Ford Escort set!

Silver lining: (most) forum regulars have now learned how to report posts

It would be easier if there were a report post option along with View/Cancel/Reply
on the forum rather than having to go through the problem centre and dig out
the message number.

It's easier to just ignore the spam and move on rather than report the user.

Are you trying to pay in a currency the seller does not accept?

If you are paying in $ and the buyer only takes € for example the payment won't
go through.

There is no time limit. A NSS is just an official notice to raise an issue with

Ex: Light Blue Gray to Medium Stone Gray.

Same reason as before. Where names diverge, ours are usually more descriptive.
And we want as little disruption as necessary to members' understanding
and recognition of colors.

It would be cool, though, if Bricklink had an official matching chart and maybe
the ability to toggle the color names in options.

The whole LBG/Stone grey thing is fine, but green/dark green would be way too
confusing, and I definitely don't want to start calling tan 'brick yellow'.

Not sure if they are called the same thing in Canads, but search for Bojo tools.
There are loads of different types and sizes. In plastic they won't scratch

What would you report to Bricklink? There was an error in the order which needs
to be addressed. At the end of the day it's down to you to sort it.

Mistakes happen, I know they do in my store, but at the end of the day if someone
buys something and doesn't get what they ordered you risk getting bad feedback.
You can of course mitigate this by responding quickly and politely and dealing
generously with them. The feedback is going to reflect how the buyer FEELS about
the transaction, not necessarily what physically happened.

You say you haven't replied yet. I would definitely reply quickly, whatever
action you are going to take.

Also the first item I looked at, the standard 3899 lego cup in red you have for

"A $3 handling charge applies to all orders for envelopes, padding, tape,
gas, waiting in line*, unforeseen medical expenses, wear and tear on automobiles
and footwear, storage, proper lighting, ventilation, Bricklink fees, PayPal fees,
etc."

*queue for the UK folks

If we charged for queuing in the UK everything would be unafordable

But we would still do it, and tut under our breath at those who do not.

  Evening all

I appear to be getting quite a few messages about not receiving orders.

How long are you asking buyers to wait?

I've had 3 today!

I'd say something along the lines of

Sorry for the delay in delivery that is being caused by the Royal Mail strikes:
https://www.royalmail.com/latest-news

Your order was posted on XX-XX-XX and I hope that you receive it soon.

I closed today. The planned strikes next week are going to cause havoc for parcel
deliveries in the run up to Christmas. And the sort of people that leave it very
late to order a set are the sort of people that expect it to be delivered fast
and get trigger happy with feedback if you ruin their Christmas. If it is late
arriving and they want to return it, that's about £7 in postage both ways
for a parcel. Opening again on and after Christmas is far less hassle, as people
ordering then are not ordering for Christmas presents.

I'm closing also. Last 2nd class postage for Xmas has been brought forward
again. I don't really want to turn away 2 weeks worth of customers, but
experience from previous years tells me that there will be a large uptick of
buyers who are saying orders have not arrived.

Do you encounter problems?  (Being logged out for instance.)

I’ve never had problems but I only did it for short tests so I’m looking for
people doing it more often / longer.

Thanks

No problem at all on PC. Often have 2 logged in no problems.

I do have problems keeping my android devices logged in. I almost always have
to log in again when I come back to my phone or tablet.

I'm not sure how it is in the states, but here in the UK customer feedback
is hugely important in bricks and mortar retail.

As a retail manager in my main job, my store target is 80% of our feedback being
9 or 10 out of 10. If I don't hit this, my bonus is crippled, irrespective

  Hello,

a very bad thing happened with a 10k + feedbacks seller.

They shipped with the documents, the customs office didn't see them and I
double paid the taxes.
I ended paying nearly more in taxes than the order itself.

I called my post office and they said that it's the seller's duty to
contact the customs office and solve it. I am just a buyer, why should I care
about that? I should pay once and then get the goods. My duties should be over
with that.

So what would you do in my place?

I don't see you can really blame the seller for this. You say they shipped
with the documents so they have followed the correct procedure.

If the seller is happy to contact your customs to try and reclaim the money on
your behalf then great. If not then you don't have much choice other than
to take the hit on the costs.

Also an action button that moves the `surplus `out of stock, to the wanted list.

I used Brickstore for this. It's what got me into this mess in the first

features I thought about having a go on here at selling.

Anyone else seen this variation ?

Is the lighter red slightly translucent? I've seen something similar on

Even if it weighs 378gr, it will cost for me

How do you get those prices?

With Chitchats, it cost me $10.89 but assuming I can pack it to weigh less than

Would your Chitchats prices be different if 2lbs was 900g not 450g?

I have noticed the disappearing of a few lots in the store of used parts earlier
but I then decided I might have made an error when I created them.

I'm not detecting lots or quantities disappearing, but a couple of time I
detected created lots or additional quantities (in short, BL "inventing" an extra
inventory).

I couldn't believe it happen, but had full clear proofs.
I didn't report it, it's a lost cause, sorry BL

But the ONLY way to be sure is to either use BrickStore and download and SAVE
your whole inventory every day, or download your Inventory from BrickLink as
an XML, in the Inventory/Dowload page.

Otherwise it's just guessing, and 99% of the times it's probably
your fault.
Or a part renaming thing in Catalog.
Or a transaction that just happens and hides part of your inventory for 10 minutes,
or up to the next day.

So - just have a copy of your Inventory (BSX or XML) - every day - that you can
compare to.
Then report with exact proofs.

I'm sure there are some issues with the database server side.

I definitely have cases where I count incorrectly, and list incorrectly, but
I am 100% positive that BLs internal database management causes issues.

Last week I added two of a part (new lot) next day I sold 4. I still had the
uploaded file and my store inventory open in Brickstore on my PC at this point,
I'm 100% sure I only uploaded 2 and had none beforehand.

I'm in the exact same situation. It's not possible to set the payment
back to none. You can only go back as far as bounced. You can't start an
NPB from there.

I have ended up out of pocket £20 for an order for 40p of parts.

This seller is definitely irresponsible and not reliable at all.

I'm not supporting in any way not responding to messages. With that said,
it has been 4 days, two of which were the weekend, and the store terms state
that shipping can take up to a week. You need to give the seller at least that
time before complaining.

If you haven't heard anything after that time, then I would suggest starting
a NRS procedure.

The OP ordered in JUNE, not JULY. He's given it ample time, methinks.

Oops, my mistake.

In that case I would definitely start NSS if the seller hasn't responded
to any messages.

I hope you paid by Paypal, if so, put a claim in with them.

Pretty much the same here. I send a repeat invoice direct to the buyers email
at point B.

Point C is the key. How I proceed depends entirely on whether I have had any
response. If none then the order gets cancelled with an NPB. I'm quite
happy to work with the buyer to move things along at a slower pace if they communicate

  Hi

Finally changing to instant checkout but unclear on one thing - how do I add/adjust
the weight of an order to include the packaging weight? For example, if there
are two weight thresholds, say, £1 for 100g or less and £2 for 101g to 250g,
how do I factor in say 20g for packaging so if a buyer orders 85g of parts it
will bill them for £2 packaging not the £1 level?

Thanks, and sorry if that was a bit long-winded but it's confusing me.

Go into settings and then shipping. Select the shipping method then scroll down
a bit. You can see the weight/cost bands in a table, called Destination and
Base Rate.

You can change the maximum limits for each band, so instead of 0-100g costs X
and 100-250g costs Y, I have 0-75g costs X, and 75-210g costs Y.

Can he be reported somewhere? I don't want other buyers to suffer. Also,

Thank you in advance.

Contact Royal Mail. If this is a scam they will have likely received multiple
claims for lost mail to this address. Tell them you believe this is mail fraud
which is a criminal offence and that you will provide any evidence to support
their investigation. If it is not a scam then they likely have a rogue postman
which they need to investigate and your evidence may help.

Robert

I can't answer for the other sellers involved. But mine was a small order
which I just refunded as I didn't think anything of it at the time, so there
was no involvement of the Post Office.

It's still possible, like 99999 is a random number also.

It could also be not his/her fault: unpleasant local postman or lazy post office...
Did you check the adress? It points to something "normal" in Google map?

It's a valid address. Points to a normal residential location on Google.

I once had a guy claim a figure was lost in the post, so I refunded. A few weeks

You will always get a certain percentage of orders that the buyer will never

Stopped posting overseas at the start of Covid.

The increased risk of delays and loss has not encouraged me to start back up
again.

It's a pity as about 25% of my sales were overseas and I enjoyed posting
out to new countries.

The other issue of course is Brexit. Given my average transaction is quite low,
I can't see many eurozone buyers wanting to pay higher postage costs plus
VAT plus admin fees for a few £ of bricks. Even given this, the extra paperwork
now needed puts me off.

I do consider reopening to international buyers from time to time, but at the
moment I don't think it is worth the worry and the time.

If you put the set number of the stickers you want in the search bar, you will
see a listing say in 'Item consists of XXX parts'

Click this and it will give you the inventory of the set, you can then select
the stickers and hit 'buy'.

I have an older house 1929ish with small 1960’s extension and don’t know if I
can be forced to channel these to soakaways or I can leave them as they are.

I have to change one as it drains into septic tank system and that’s not allowed
anymore.

Can I change this so it empties onto the garden like the two other down pipes
I have on the front of the building, well away from the septic tank system.

No public rainwater system available, I’m below main road level on a private
road, I don’t pay drainage costs only water supply to utility company.

Anyone know the legal position ?

Cheers.

Not knowing your exact issue, but sounds like you might want to Google "rainwater
soakaway" if you haven't tried that already

Only thing I know is that a new soakaway would have to be 3m from the house.
We have one at the front of ours, everything else goes into waterbutts.

I'm suggesting that until the covid crisis is over that BL puts an extra

It doesn't even need to be permanent. Just something official. They aren't
reading our terms disclaimers.

Open to any input on this.

I do agree with you.

I also feel to a certain degree that us sending out thousands of packages of

Arm - For parts consisting of finger or ball joints used in the assembly
of lift arms. Note 8

As lift arms are a part type in their own right, I would argue against using
the term to describe items that do not fit in that category.

Also, although I can see it could go either way, I would argue that crocodiles
are more water, than land animals.

How about manually setting the dimensions of the sets to something huge, and

something in the comments to that effect as well.

Usually when I run bricksync, it does sync commands and mate those of Bricklink

Brickowl and not the other way around?
Is there a way back on Bricksync?

If you had a solution to this problem, I would be extremely grateful.

Have a look at a couple of your recent Bricksync backups in the data folder,
you should be able to use one to roll back your inventory.

Can we please remove the 'Prefer My Bricklink Classic?' (and the corresponding
one from the old screen) from the top of the 'My Bricklink' page.

It takes up loads of screen real estate and would be as a tick box on a display
settings option.

I think after it being there a year most people will have chosen which style
they prefer.

Thankfully, since there are so many headlight bricks with varying levels of partial
holes. It was definitely a manufacturing defect.

You think the horizontal slot is a defect?

I believe, until Lego says otherwise, the slot is meant to be like this.

Out of all my 4070 at least 80% have a slot, no matter what year or color, no
matter what set it came from.
Too much for a defect.

It is a slot that is always the same form, sharply formed, very straight and
small.

I think it could be made for pressure relieve.

Yes, if you look from the inside, the hole is always moulded there. Sometimes
there is a thin skin over it. I think all my newer parts have the slot, with
older ones being hit and miss.

I believe the note on the part 'This part is occasionally found with a small
horizontal slot in the front near the base. This is believed to be an unintentional
feature.' is incorrect. Should be the other way round 'occasionally
found WITHOUT a small...'

I still don't understand why they were marked for deletion. There only single
colors in the catalog, no crossed colors, no decorated items. Nothing but plain
single colors.

I will sell them on other well known sites.

Not saying it should be deleted, but that reason is valid. There are plenty
of sets where the two parts have different colours. Why would those combinations
not be available to buy?

(Does anyone know why?)

I would have thought panels would be used rather than bricks in modern sets for

Much the same way as Ebay. I'm not sure why they call it "feedback". I strive

My favoured solution would be feedback rating only calculated on the last 12months

From the point of view of the Internal Revenue Service if
you are engaged in any activity for the purpose of making a profit, you are in
business and should be reporting that revenue and paying taxes on it. There are
exceptions for "hobbyists," but even there the line is not so clear.

It is the same in the UK. If you are offering goods for sale with the intent
to make a profit, then the income is taxeable and should be declared. So arguably
everyone in the UK listing new bricks for sale would fall under this.

The Inland Revenue does not want people on a small turnover setting up as a business,
declaring a loss, and claiming tax back from their main job. The figure I had
quoted to me was £2K turnover.

The other implication of being a registered business vs just a guy, is consumer
protection legistlation. In EU for example, you have a right to return as part
of distance selling law, and lots of protection regarding description of goods,
being fit for purpose etc. This is completely different if you are buying business
to business, and many of the protections we rely on as a consumer just don't
apply.

them with a description on a case by case basis. When someone orders an item
from me with a discrepancy, I try to make sure that I email them to make sure
that they are aware of the discrepancy. Perhaps, things would be a lot simpler
if there was a category for items with discrepancies, or maybe it would complicate
things too much, but its interesting nonetheless. Regardless, I think it should
be a requirement to post your own picture of the item, instead of using the stock
photo, to help eliminate confusion.

As well as this, it will prevent 'filler bricks' from distorting the
price guide downwards for used parts.

If you sell parts and they smell of smoke for whatever reason then it will be

Even if you don't smoke near them , it is likely that they will get contaminated
to some degree.

Same with pet hair, although that is a different issue. I have cats, and while
they don't go into my office, I occasionally find hairs in my sorting cups

I can't be absolutely certain that the odd hair won't end up in a jiffy

then bookmarking them on the tablet, but it's still not comfortable.

Can this please be solved? I have this issue on a Lenovo as well as a Windows
Surface, in all browsers, so I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I can use the menus fine. But I still want a mobile version.

There is far too much zooming in and moving the screen around on a desktop site
aimed at a 24" screen to use comfortably on a 5/7" device.

I would also like an app that is optimised for mobile features, so I can have,
e.g. push notifications for messages, order change of status etc.

I've had too many "100% complete" purchases that weren't. From talking
to sellers it seems they just say something is complete but most aren't actually
checking. I feel this is a disservice to buyers.

Perhaps a field that says "I have checked the set against the BL piece list and
it actually is 100% complete" or something like that. They will still lie,
but maybe it will curtail things a bit.

And on the buyers end, rather than just a positive/neutral/negative, there should
be more. Like a "was it actually 100% complete?" Then if you see that only
75% of the time a seller is actually selling complete sets you can steer clear.

Voted no. It is not necessary. Sellers already have the choice of listing as
complete or incomplete. Having an extra step/check box before an item can be
listed won't make a difference.

Agreed.

If sellers list things as complete, when they are not. There won't really
be anything stopping them just ticking the 100% button when they are not.

a little grammar wouldn't hurt either...

Thanks,

Do you mean, for example, capital letters at the start of a sentence?

  Hi,
I'm wondering why a new set can have the flag "incomplete". Talking about
a new! set means, that it is MISB or new in openend box. Everything else
are new parts that exist in several sets or maybe only in one set. But a Star
Wars set without the rare minifigs or a Maersk train set without the train can't
be a "new set".
Why is that important?
When you take a look at the price guide you often find new sets that are much
cheaper than others. But when you check the offer you see the "incomplete" mark
within the offer.
From my point of view "new set" means complete in box with instructions and ALL
parts, nothing else. For now, the price guide for "new sets" is useless because
I am able to sell a single 1x1 tile as a new set that is incomplete.
New sets with the flag "incomplete" should be listed under parts because that
is what they are - a collection of new parts from a set.
What do you think?

Sven

I have just bought two copies of a set I wanted a minifig from. One is MISB,
the other has clearly had several years of being played with.

If I take out the figs I want and sell the sets, I would want to list one as
used incomplete (with a list of what is missing), and one as new, incomplete.

This would demonstrate to a buyer the correct condition of the parts they are
getting.
