| It’s been a while since I told a joke here and a thread about building reminded
me of this one.
It’s banter between Grandes Écoles (specialised universities) in France, and
particularly Engineering ones.
Context to understand the joke:
— l’X = École polytechnique. Brainy (and military, which is a bit of a contradiction).
A few Nobel prizes and a Field medal, three Presidents of France, and many CEOs
of big French companies.
— Centrale = a group of Engineering schools. Good… but not X.
— Arts & Métiers. More hands-on. Alumni are called ‘gadzarts’ (pronounced gah
dzahr; from ‘gars des Arts’ (gah days_ahr) / guys from Arts).
(Not an alumnus of any.)
So, here’s the joke:
What’s the difference between an X, a centralien, and a gadzart?
— When an X builds a bridge, the bridge falls down. But they know why the bridge
fell down.
— When a centralien builds a bridge, the bridge falls down, they don’t know why.
— When a gadzart builds a bridge, the brigde holds, they don’t know why but it
holds!
Does this apply to LEGO building? What kind of LEGO engineer are you?
Me, of course, I think I’m a unicorn: I’ll build the bridge, and the brigde will
hold, and I’ll know why, haha! …until I actually have to build the bridge!

| Hi,
I just saw that ‘deer’ was replaced by ‘elk’ in
[p=3846pb48]
[p=3070bpb119]
I don’t get why. It’s clearly a Red Deer (cervus elaphus), not a Wapiti (cervus
canadensis; wrong continent) and certainly not a Moose/Elk (alces alces; wrong
antlers, wrong snout).
Could we have the rationale for that change?

| Hi,
Can someone check whether 4623a was found in ?
Because, as it is now, 4623 (undertermined version) is in the Alternate section.
So it should either be deleted or replaced with 4623a.
Thanks.

| Hi all,
Have you seen this little guy?
I was looking at the release announcements of 10497-1 and 10305-1 when I heard
some kind of howl and the sound of something flying out very fast and since then
I can’t find my friend anymore
Joining a sketch artist as I’ve no photo: he’s very shy and never wants to come
out.

| Hi all,

* | | 68446c01 Vehicle, Base 8 x 16 x 2 1/2 with Mudguards, 4 x 14 Recessed Center with 5 Holes, and Dark Bluish Gray Wheels Holders Parts: Vehicle, Base |
I don’t have the parts, only 3D model for 18923c01, so could someone check they
are actually:
— 18923c01: 2 bricks high,
or 2 1/3 if you include the wheel axle brick (bottom is 1 plate lower than
the base),
or 2 1/3 if you include the top of the mudguards,
or 2 2/3 if you include both the bricks and the mudguards,
— 68446c01: 2 1/3 bricks high,
or 2 2/3 if you include the wheel axle bricks,
or is it 2 & 2 1/3? (I can’t see if it’s the base that is higher or the
mudguards that are lower),
and make the proper change request?
Thanks

| Hi all,
In case you need a break from BL and crave for real culture (and not bad movies
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1340513 ) here are some trivia about
the Muppets:
So, I recently found out that Fozzie Bear’s catchphrase in English is “Wocka
wocka!” (But I don’t understand if that’s supposed to mean something?)
In French, he says “Intellectuel!” (“Brainy!”)… which his jokes rarely are
What does he say in your languages?
Prof Bunsen’s firstname is Walbec in French. Walbec Bunsen. Because “bec Bunsen”
(Bunsen beak) is the name for a Bunsen burner.
The Swinetrek is the Transporcherie (= trans-pigsty).
In the announcement for the Vetenerarian’s Hospital (les Muppets à l’hôpital),
it’s about an “orthopédiste à qui la médecine cassait les pieds.” Literally,
“an orthopedic surgeon whose feet the medecine broke” but actually “an orthopedic
surgeon that medicine bugged.”
There, I think those are really important things that everybody should know
