You're not the guardian of this forum and I don't have any beef with
those posters, but pointing out a part as FAKE when it's not, is not okay
in anyway!

If you don't know jacksh_t about LEGO parts maybe it would be better to not
to post at all

Ole

Is it a good thing to say a part is fake when it is not? No, of course not but
come on, no need to have express such negativity towards someone here. With all
the part experts here which can literally id a part just seconds after a post
is made, if someone mistakenly says a part is fake there is absolutely NO CHANCE
that it is going to get by without quickly being corrected.

A while back I received a freebie from TLG, it's a gold red minifig on a
keychain with a VIP tag and # 853303. Can't find the entry for it in BL's

Thanks

We got a couple of those but the problem with them is that they just look way
to nice (and shinny) to use as a keychain.

Jan

Yes/no - if you round it at 2 decimals it's 1.82€

Hoping it's right

Can anybody give me an example in American money?

I feel the the 6 month qty sales average price does not really apply for deciding
how to price our parts. We just go by the average price for the last "6 months
sales" average and it works out good for us and helps make sure we do not price
our parts too low. From there we put our parts on sale according to how many
sales we want to receive - as an example, when we are busy with our main work
of building cabinetry we take all our parts off sale and our orders go way down
but when we are concentrating mostly on our Lego business we will put all our
parts on sale for about 10 to 15 percent off. The closer we come to 15 percent
off means the mores orders we will receive.

This is how we price our stuff but each store is different.

We would definitely sell them as used. We would not like it but with all the
scratches they are just not good enough to sell as new and you will avoid getting
any possible bad feedbacks for selling them as new. Plus, you can always list
them as used but price them as new - may take a little longer to sell but you
will at least get full price.

When it comes to situations where you wonder how to list something, I think Maxx
summed it up really well when he said "Under describe, over deliver…".

Gee, thanks LEGO for packing these new, fun, smooth parts in a bag with lots
of plates and bricks. You really know your audience.

Jen

Are those scratches, or did something funky happen with the liquid plastic during
injection ?

I’m guessing they are scratches, but would like to be proven wrong. It almost
suggests the ABS on those parts is softer than what is used on a typical brick.

Nita Rae

They are definitely scratches as one of them was more noticeably affected than
the other. The scratches are only on the surface, not gouged in such a way that
you could feel the lines. The bottom stud attachments feel really sharp to me
so they may be getting damaged just rummaging around in a bin of their own kind
at the factory.

It is what it is, but there is no way to sell these to a buyer, call them New
and not expect trouble.

Jen

They just look too scratched up to be from rubbing in the plastic bag. Something
must have happened to them before they were placed in the set at the factory.
I have had scratched shinny pieces in a set but never that bad. It is especially
a bummer because they are such cool tiles.

I have been under, the mistaken and intuitive, impression that fees were adjusted
based upon the refund reasons, that is the normal way things operate on marketplaces.
Oh yeah, Bricklink is not a normal marketplace.

Well they are a different marketplace in one important way, they only charge
a flat fee of 3% on what is sold verses 6 1/2% on Etsy (+ variuos fees), 12%
on ebay (+ other fees which bring it closer to 15%), Amazon is 15% plus many
other fees.

BrickLink is by far the least expensive marketplace for selling that has a world
wide audience.

Seems to me it’s just FUD.

I'm sorry that our conversation on this topic wasn't productive. Perhaps
we can resume it at another time.

I think the gist of the thought was that when you pointed out how unfairly BrickLink
acted toward catalog contributors of the past by wrongly erasing their names
when you said "how unfortunate it was that BrickLink erased hundreds of usernames
of catalog contributors. That this was ever allowed to happen speaks volumes
about the level of respect BrickLink gives to its member contributors".

That thought is understandable so I think SylvainLS was just trying to show that
there was a good reason why they removed the names and that it was simply because
they were trying to follow laws regarding the consent of the individuals that
had their names removed when he said "I believe this happened because those members
are not registered anymore and didn’t give their express consent to have it shared
& used by BL". But when you said that you were aware of the reason but still
disagreed because there were other options then SylvainLS just asked "what other
options?". I think the fact that were unwilling to share them showed kind of
a reaching for straws - at least that is what I got out of it. Just my thoughts
(which are usually way out in left field. Heck, my thoughts are usually not even
coherent enough to make it to the ballpark).

Kevin,
With your feedback I would not buy a bottle of air from you.

Feedback Summary:

Week Month Year Total
Praise: 4 34 1265 6167
Neutral: 0 6 31 91
Complaint: 0 7 44 71

Seven negatives and six neutral just this month. So you cannot say things are
getting better.
I would think that you would not raise a question here with a record like yours.
You complain about being ignored for 30 days and you have ignored buyers for
over a month.

John P

How many of these buyers never came back to Bricklink because of you?

Well said Mr. P

  Hi,

I recently placed an order for 4 figures, all listed as new. 2 came in perfect
condition and the other two: one had a light crack which I can live with, the
other is cracked on both arms and covered in some type of residue. I contacted
the seller and sent them pictures but was assured there is no way they sent old
figures as all they sell are new and to check if I've confused it with a
figure from my own collection. I pulled the item and inspected them right out
of the parcel, don't own these figures apart from the ones from this seller,
and not sure how to proceed. I replied to the seller advising them of this, but
they seem rather defensive about it. They don't seem to have any negative
or neutral feedback so I don't know if they just didn't notice or something
genuinely happened during shipping which I find hard to believe as their packing
was great. I don't want to cause anyone trouble, but I also paid $18.29 for
the affected figure and was hoping they'd be new as advertised. Any recommendations
on what else I could do? I already looked into the pricing for a new torso and
it's going to cost 7$ + shipping just to replace it. I've attached the
pictures (I think it worked) in case anyone has seen anything like this before
and has any tips.

Thanks

Your torso doesn't match your helmet. What figure did you buy?

-Pete

It's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like you have this torso

Part No: 973pb1591c01 Name: Torso SW Armor Camouflage Elite Corps Trooper Pattern / Olive Green Arms / Black Hands
*
973pb1591c01 (Inv) Torso SW Armor Camouflage Elite Corps Trooper Pattern / Olive Green Arms / Black Hands
Parts: Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor. {Olive Green}

from this figure

Minifig No: sw0518 Name: Clone Scout Trooper, 41st Elite Corps (Phase 2) - Kashyyyk Camouflage, Scowl
*
sw0518 (Inv) Clone Scout Trooper, 41st Elite Corps (Phase 2) - Kashyyyk Camouflage, Scowl
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3

and this helmet

Part No: 11217pb08 Name: Minifigure, Headgear Helmet SW Clone Trooper (Phase 2) with 41st Camouflage Pattern
*
11217pb08 Minifigure, Headgear Helmet SW Clone Trooper (Phase 2) with 41st Camouflage Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Headgear {Olive Green}

from this figure

Minifig No: sw0519 Name: Clone Trooper, 41st Elite Corps (Phase 2) - Kashyyyk Camouflage, Scowl
*
sw0519 (Inv) Clone Trooper, 41st Elite Corps (Phase 2) - Kashyyyk Camouflage, Scowl
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3

-Pete

Both minifigs are in the set #375305 in quantities of 2 each

Set No: 75035 Name: Kashyyyk Troopers
*
75035-1 (Inv) Kashyyyk Troopers
83 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 3

The seller may have purchased either the set in used condition or a possibly
a used bulk lot from maybe someplace like Goodwill that contained the set and
he did not pay enough attention to the printing on each fig and bagged them incorrectly.

  Hello,

a very bad thing happened with a 10k + feedbacks seller.

They shipped with the documents, the customs office didn't see them and I
double paid the taxes.
I ended paying nearly more in taxes than the order itself.

I called my post office and they said that it's the seller's duty to
contact the customs office and solve it. I am just a buyer, why should I care
about that? I should pay once and then get the goods. My duties should be over
with that.

So what would you do in my place?

Duty/Taxes are the responsibility of the importer (you/buyer).
You need to contact your customs office in order to show you paid twice and get
refunded.

They said that bricklink is behaving illegally, as I am the only one who has
to pay. It is impossible that bricklink makes me pay and then picks my money
and pays my State.
They say that it's very likely that bricklink is keeping that money.

I would say that more likely that the custom's office just does not care
to take the time to straighten things out. When they say things like "very likely
BrickLink is keeping the money, It sounds like they are just using lame excuses
to try and push the blame somewhere else instead of just trying to figure out
not "what likely" happened but what exactly did happen and give real advice on
how to straighten it out.

‘klicks’.  Klick is US military for km

Interesting,. I have heard it a million times in movies but never knew what the
actual distance equaled.

But, if you wanted to be more informative (and accurate) then you would have
said a klick equals .621371 miles or 3,280.839895 feet - see how much easier
that is

Go back in time to when I posted, it wasn't.

Okay, that is true but he actually does not even need to state in his store terms
that they are assembled. According to BrickLink, he is allowed to sell them that
way so he is still not lying to himself or anyone else, otherwise some minifigs
would need to be listed as used right out of the set not even ever being touched.

Hi is not lying to himself or anyone else. BrickLink allows anyone to assemble
their minifigs and sell them as new so it is completely okay for him to do so
and his store terms highlight in all caps " ALL NEW MINIFIGURES ARE ASSEMBLED
UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE! ".

We do not assemble our figures for 2 reasons, first, the extra work takes extra
time and second, because we know that buyers want to put them together for themselves.
Regardless of how we sell figs, if a store wants to sell their figs assembled
then that is up to them.

Appeal to them, don’t demand. To include a timely response.

Time and time again, I’ve witnessed Russell’s willingness to hear and adjudicate
such cases with compassion and fairness, given the circumstances.

I fully agree, ask with humility / never demand. There have been forum posts
in the past by people who have had their store closed for not paying their fees
on time and some have gotten pissed when their store was not opened quickly enough
for them and I have wondered if maybe they showed a bad attitude when contacting
admin about their store being closed so admin may not have been in a real hurry
to help them out. I know I have forgotten to pay our fees a few times over the
years and have had our store closed but each time, after I paid the fees, I would
contact admin apologizing big time for not paying on time and our store was always
opened up the same day and sometimes even within an hour or two.

Actually the explanation is very good. I have wondered the very same thing -
how to list used parts where the occasional one may be a bit more scratched up
then others. The problem is getting the wording right so that you dont to scare
people away from buying the parts because they may think that they will receive
damaged parts but you know that most all of them will be in good shape but at
the same time, when sorting, you dont want to spend to a lot of time with each
part checking for ones that are damaged just a bit more then others so the occasional
scratched one may get by you. The quite damaged pieces are usually easy to pick
out but others not so easy. I hope what I am saying makes cents (at least
a couple of).

We have got 7 of these:

Gear No: 95569c01 Name: Storage Brick 2 x 2
*
95569c01 (Inv) Storage Brick 2 x 2
Gear: Storage

1 in red, 1 in blue, 1 in medium azure, 2 in dark pink and 2 in medium lavender.
They are all new and never used but because they are made of soft plastic they
have a little bit of surface scratchings from being moved around. We dont really
have a use for them so they have just been sitting around. They look like they
are getting bummed out because they dont have anything to do here and they would
like to be doing what they were made for, holding someone's Lego.

They retailed for $7.99 each (at least that is what the price sticker on the
bottom says) but we just want them to have a new home where they can be put to
good use. If anyone is interested we will be glad to send them to you free of
charge (providing you live in the US as overseas postage would be killer). Just
let us know if you are interested.

BTW, I'm not sure it's a scam, but it's spam for sure.

Considering they open up several accounts here everyday just to send spam messages
knowing that it is against the TOS when they sign up and also knowing that their
accounts will be quickly closed down but they still repeatedly do it several
times a day knowing then I would say that kind of constitutes it being a scam

I meant...
Apparently (but I didn't check much) it's a working marketplace.
So it doesn't seem to be a scam.
But the way they promote their website is pure spam.

If you wish, it's like if BrickOwl would send messages to all sellers here...
But BO isn't this kind of business, of course.

I see your point and I agree, their spamming here dose not prove that the site
itself is a scam. I should have read your post more carefully before I replied
to it. I apologize for any offence given.

It is their (stripe) dispute fee.

Once a cardholder initiates a dispute, it is no longer possible to avoid the
fee. However if you win the dispute, Stripe will refund this dispute fee to you.

If a card has been used fraudulently then the first a seller hears about it is
a dispute, and at that time they are almost guaranteed to have lost the money
when the card is refunded, the goods if posted and the £15 dispute fee which
stripe takes. I doubt sellers will ever win a dispute over a card initiated chargeback,
whether they posted the items or not since the card owner did not place the order.

What a ridiculous amount to charge for that fee! It would be one thing to charge
a euro or 2 but 15?? That is just plain greed. Knowing this now, I will never
use Stripe.

UPS can be more economical than USPS depending on the volume (and if you can
get commercial pricing ... Pirate Ship offers this for both USPS and UPS). But
by all means compare. I would definitely get insurance as well (e.g. from ShipSurance)

When it comes to shipping anything larger like sets, UPS is usually always less
expensive especially if the buyer lives far away. Quite often USPS will charge
twice as much as UPS.

Stamps.com now also offers UPS at bulk pricing for their customers.

If you decide to list them separately then I STRONGLY recommend using Brickstore:

https://brickforge.de/brickstore/

It is free and has a lot of features. When I list minifigures I just add a bunch
of the same minifigure. I will put in something like 40 col102. You can then
then just tap on the minifigure Part Number and replace it with the correct minifigure
part number for each figure - it is so much quicker this way.

After you put in all your figs you can have Brickstore automatically set the
price on all of them to the 6 month sales average and then you can go up or down
from there for each one.

$5000.00 for a new one and $500.00 plus for a used one / well that unfortunately
provides a lot of incentive for someone to try to print out some decent looking
fake torsos, spend a few bucks buying the standard tan legs and Yoda heads and
then try and sell them on different sites. If you sell 5 of them on different
sites and if even 2 people file a PayPal claim, the guy still makes out.

Have you ever noticed that the animals from sets like that start disappearing
after a while? I set up some cameras a while back to find out. I was surprised
to find that over night when everyone was asleep, minifigures were feeding off
the animals (I guess they all need to eat too). They seem to especially like
the larger animals, like cows, so eventually your guys will probably be having
some steaks one night and they will probably use the leather to make belts, wallets,
purses and the such so the scratches will actually come in handy in identifying
the purse or wallet that was made out of your cow's scratched hide!

So if you wake up one morning to the faint smell of a barbeque, well......

To my eyes, selling isn't only a question of fees on that transaction.

Right now you've to show some info and get approved by whatever administration
process (I don't know about, I must admit).

This is to ensure some "reability" of the sellers.

Reliability?

Now if I can trade my brand new Boba Fett Cloud city against 12000 new parts,
as being a buyer - with no registration, no proof of anything, fine, I didn't
know.

Well, it depends on how you look at the trade.

You’re seing it as both members selling something to one another.  So you see
it as each member needing to be a reliable seller.
But that would mean there’s two transactions: A as seller with B as buyer, and
A as buyer with B as seller.
But that’s not what’s happeing.  It’s only one sale, with payment in kind.
The proof and reason for that is the fees: only one fee is paid.  Yes, it’s again
about fees but just as a tangible part of the process.
Would you want the trade to be double-fee-ed?

And there’s still one reliable/trusted seller in the loop, as with transactions
by with only money.  So it’s not less reliable than other transactions.
So I don’t think one can look at a buyer offering a trade as a hack around seller
verification.

What I really like about the fact that the fee is charged on only one side of
the trade is that it shows that BrickLink is being not only fair but also generous.
Imagine if ebay allowed trades, I bet they would want their 10% fee from both
sides of the transaction. BrickLink only wants their fee on one side of the transaction
and at only 3%.

As a side note, I have always thought BrickLink has been great in only charging
a 3% fee. What other site dedicated to commerce only charges 3%. I thought when
Lego purchased BrickLink that they would increase the fee. But even if they did
(or do in the future) to just 5% it would still be very low. So again, as a side
note, hats off to BrickLink and The Lego Group for keeping the fee set at 3%.

Sorry for getting off topic but I have always really appreciated the 3% fee and
thought this was a good topic to bring it up.

  Hello admin,

I have a customer who wants to purchase a 600 euro set, but my store is closed
because I had to order something myself and have it shipped to my parents address
instead of my home address.

Can you please open my store, because I would hate to lose a 600 euro sale !!!

thanks

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your store gets reopened soon, because €600 is
a lot of money!

There are multiple places on BrickLink to input your address. When you first
register for BrickLink, you are asked for your name and address, which are recorded
on your account info page: https://www.bricklink.com/pref_general.asp

By default, this is the address that BrickLink uses when you order something
from another store. If you want something shipped to a different address, you
have the option to replace the default shipping address with a different one
at checkout (see image below). This also replaces the PayPal address if you pay
onsite.

Your store has a separate address associated with it, which is displayed in your
store settings at the bottom of the management page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/management.page

This is the physical address associated with your store, which should not change
unless you physically move your store since changing it may require you to go
through the new seller verification process again.

I hope that helps clear things up a bit.

I have done this a few times when I am missing a part or a minifig that a customer
has ordered from us. I just change the ship to address during checkout process
and everything works out fine - no store closure and even the PayPal address
that is seen by the store where I place the order at shows up as the changed
address so the store only sees the address that the order will be shipped to
an not our business address (which could be confusing).

Do it this way and you don't have to worry about your store being closed
again.

There are times when we can not find a part or a minifig for an order. When we
offer a coupon for something missing then we offer it as one option out of two
or three options. The options we offer is... 1st option is to give them a refund
for the missing pieces plus shipping so they can order it from another store
if they so choose and we will include a free bee bag of Lego / 2nd option is
to cancel the order and give them a full refund / Sometimes we offer a 3rd option
where send the rest of the order issue a coupon equal to the total of the items
missing plus extra for shipping (plus free bee bag).

If we are missing a minifig then we will quite often just order it from another
store and have them send it directly to the customer and we will let the customer
to know about it.

I have always felt that to offer a customer a refund or coupon for just the value
of the missing just dose not feel quite right. If the customer has to place an
order in another store in order to get the missing pieces, they will need to
pay for shipping twice and that just seems unfair.

How many feedbacks does the customer have and does he have any negatives or neutrals
(if so, what do they say in general)?

This really stinks. I hope you can work something out.

I got a neutral feedback left to me by a repeat customer. It was an accident

What should I do about this? It doesn't say anything about this in the feedback

If you have any advice or information, it would be greatly appreciated!

I like the on other neutral feedback left for you where the guy states "If the
item says damaged, just be sure to look at the picture to see how damaged". Obviously,
by what he states, you did highlight that the item was damaged (good) and you
supplied a picture of the damage (even better) that he could look at before he
placed his order but did not bother to take the time to look at the picture
right in front of him and then blames you for it.

   Or should I give neutral
rating cause of the lack of them giving feedback?

The store you left the retaliatory feedback has over 12,000 feedbacks and only
one of those is a neutral and no negatives. There are very few stores with over
12,000 feedbacks with only one neutral feedbacks and now you have made it two
simply because he did not leave you a feedback? That is basically just being
retaliatory. You should really consider removing your retaliatory feedback against
this store - other stores that see this post will block you from shopping in
their stores not wanting to also receive a bad retaliatory feedback because of
not leaving you a positive feedback quick enough.

Yeah it makes me wonder especially sense he has 105 positive feedbacks but also
3 neutrals and 5 negatives which means 8% of his customers were unhappy, not
to mention the ones who did not leave feedback in fear of a retaliatory feedback,
which he did leave for half of his neg / neut feedbacks. Both stores are located
in California, normally I would think that it was more likely a case of someone

You don't have to worry, because neither will happen. There is a lot going
on behind the scenes that you have no idea of. Things are definitely happening,
but they take time to happen. LEGO finally has full control of BrickLink as of
earlier this year. In other words, the old regime is finally no longer at the
helm. And this time, they are actually listening to the community, as there are
panels of buyers and sellers having meetings with BrickLink concerning the Catalog
and the Marketplace. There are some very cool things being worked on, but I can't
say more for now.

That is really great news to hear. I look forward to seeing what these changes
will bring to BrickLink in the future! Keep up the good work!!

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a large enough audience that would
be willing to pay the price that Lego would need to charge to make a set that
is as detailed and as large as yours. The total pieces needed looks to be at
least 1500 pieces + some.

Jim

Thank you for the kind words. It has been a challenging build. I haven’t really
used any rare parts or building techniques that are not a strong build. So
I don’t think it would be to expensive for LEGO to build it if it’s picked. As
long as I keep it around $200-250, I think it would be very reasonable for how
large this MOC is. I am shooting for making the finished MOC 1808 pieces. It
makes for a nice Easter egg like the Saturn V. I will have a better idea of how
close I am once I finish the CAD version of it.
I think the audience is there. It’s only been 9 days and I am already creeping
close to 300 supporters after 9 days. Again thanks for checking it out.

Dave

That would be great if Lego does decide to make it, it is so close to the real
thing and looks awesome.

The ruble has fallen by that much. It is not cool that the seller lied to you,
or canceled your order to relist at a high price, but by canceling he probably
did you a favor. The ruble might have fallen before you bought the item making
the $ cost much lower than it would have otherwise been. If you follow the forum
you would have seen a post by someone who bought from Russia and now their order
is stuck in Moscow and not moving.

Even a refund, if one is issued, might end
up being much lower (in value) than they paid due to the fall of the value of
the ruble.

That is a really good point.

Hey, I think you just came up with a money scheme for BrickLink. Just change
store settings to only accepting payments in rubles. Sell sets at ridiculously
low prices to get a bunch of quick sales then take the money and buy dollars
or euros. Wait for a couple few weeks for the ruble to go down even further then
cancel all the orders, rebuy rubles at a discount and give everyone full refunds.

Unfortunately I bet their are already people doing scams like this on other market
platforms.

like there was with Neon Yellow.

It strikes me as similar to BL Medium Brown, so I could certainly see "New Medium
Brown". Also I made a swatch based on similar colors. I'd really like to
see what everyone thinks, but honestly one of the key reasons I'm bringing
it up is that I *do not* want to see both colors covered by one BL name.

This one is a tough situation. The official LEGO name is "Medium Brown", but
BrickLink already has a "Medium Brown". The BrickLink "Medium Brown" is LEGO
"Brown", but BrickLink already has a "Brown". The BrickLink "Brown" is LEGO "Earth
Orange", but BrickLink already has an "Earth Orange". *sigh*

Maybe go with "Medium Brown 2022", like Bladerunner 2049.

Two possible choices I have come up with that would avoid any color renaming:

"Light Brown" - This is a name used by LEGO for what is BrickLink "Fabuland Orange",
but BrickLink does not use this name yet. It is simple and short.

"Nougat Brown" - Since this color comes between "Reddish Brown" and "Medium Nougat"
on the skin tone scale, this one is a blend of those names. It is also simple
and short.

More to come on this...

I like Nougat brown. It has a good sound. But I really 1001Bricks suggestion
for
Light Bluish Brown, that way we can have a lot of new bees asking how to tell
the difference between light bluish brown and light brown just like we do from
time to time with the grays - I know at first I had a hard time telling the difference
between the grays and still sometimes do with the light ones.

You can definitely offer him a refund if he agrees to remove the feedback and
there is a good chance he will accept. You will not be breaking any rules here
by making the offer.

I think you're plain wrong, sorry.

This is a financial transaction to change the feedback, it's not allowed:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=97&q=extortion

Buyers must not demand additional goods, services or refunds over and above
what was agreed in the original transaction with the threat of negative Feedback
if the seller does not comply. Sellers are not allowed to require buyers to leave
positive Feedback or revise existing Feedback in exchange for shipping items,
completing refund requests or providing monetary compensation.

As a seller:

Sellers are, however, allowed to ask the buyer to leave positive Feedback
at the end of a successful transaction.

Interesting, I had not seen that before. I agree that I was plain wrong! The
way I was suggesting was for the seller to give the refund only in exchange for
the buyer changing his feedback and that would definitely fall break the rules
where it states that a seller is not allowed to require a customer to "revise
existing Feedback in exchange for... providing monetary compensation". - Thank
you for the correction.

The one way it could work is if the seller just gave a refund but did not require
the buyer to change his feedback in order to get the refund and then after giving
the refund he asked the buyer if he would consider changing his feedback, then
I think that would be okay because now the refund does not require changing the
feedback.

You can definitely offer him a refund if he agrees to remove the feedback and
there is a good chance he will accept. You will not be breaking any rules here
by making the offer. I would first ask him what the issues are and then apologize
if the minifig did not meet his expectations and then make the offer. Most buyers
here are understanding and willing to work with you as long as you treat them
well and offering a refund would definitely show the customer that you take customer
satisfaction seriously.

On a side note if he does not agree to remove it then I would not worry about
it. People will not stop shopping in your store because of just one negative.
Some stores here have dozens of negatives and still get plenty of people shopping
in their store.

I agree with what Gaston.La.Brick mentions about how a couple of bad feedbacks
dont really mean a lot, especially when the majority of other feedbacks are positive.
I also strongly recommend following his advice on not leaving a negative feedback
in retaliation. Retaliatory negative feedbacks, I think hurt a stores reputation
more then the negative feedbacks they receive. I know sometimes a return negative
or neutral may be justified and that is fine, I just hate the stores that leave
retaliatory feedbacks for every one they receive - I will not shop in their stores.

  Hi all,
I have received an order from Italy. The order is for 3 figures for a total of
$39.
Shipping is ridiculous ($16), plus whatever VAT the person must pay.
Here's the question:
The buyer has written three times now, requesting I send the figures in a letter.
I have said no every time and suggested cancelling the order, but now the buyer
is begging (lol), and saying they will assume any risk.
Has anyone ever sent 3 minifigs in a letter?

The last communication was:
"39$+ 16$shipping + 12,10vat + 20/25$ doganal fees!!!!! For 3 minifigure is very
expensive. For that I asked you an alternative way..
For a letter I would not pay doganal fees..
Please"
I don't have a clue about the doganal fees. I'm frustrated because I
would like to help this buyer with the request, but don't want to leave myself
open to issues with damaged figures.
The buyer Saying they accept the risk, is not a binding statement lol

It dose not matter if they are willing to accept the risk if you use a standard
1st class letter envelope because a first class letter requires that it be no
thicker than 1/4" thick so it would most likly just be returned to you anyway
and there is a good chance that the envelope would get damaged running thru the
post office scanners and such.

As far as the statement in your terms that states "As a seller on bricklink,
I choose to ship as economically as possible, and am well aware of the risks
involved", by sending it as a first class package that is still the most economically
available option that you can choose - there is no less expensive option that
is accepted by the USPS. I know some will use the 'Large Envelope' option
but technically it is not acceptable by USPS to send minifigs using that method.
I have sent a couple of orders of figures that way in the distant past but never
felt comfortable as I was always nervous about having them returned so I only
did it I think three times. I may be wrong but I think the 'Large Envelope'
option is not even available for sending overseas.

  All -

I'm interested in doing a bit of a study. For myself, as a seller and
as a buyer, I'm firmly of the belief that the seller should leave feedback
first. I myself leave feedback when I've shipped the order, even in some
circumstances once the order is packed - at any rate, definitely before the buyer
would leave it. Some have the opposite opinion - that the buyer should leave
feedback first.

Limited evidence (I have a small store, not many orders, maybe my store attracts
a certain kind of buyer?) suggests that leaving feedback when I do has a positive
effect on whether or not I receive feedback in kind. The reason I say this
is that my feedback-to-orders ratio has consistently been between 65-70%, and
yet I've heard that the average feedback-to-orders ratio across BL is more
like 50%. Now I try to be professional and communicative, and because my store
is small I can ship quickly, but many other stores on BL that are larger than
mine offer exemplary service, and I don't think my service is so good as
to account for the higher feedback ratio.

So, if you're willing to answer, would you mind answering with:

- when you leave feedback (before or after the buyer: I don't know if it
has to be specific)
- what your store's current feedback-to-orders ratio is

Thanks!

I too leave feedback when my buyer pays. I don't really care whether or not
they leave feedback about me (as long as it's not non-positive ). Feedback
isn't a trade - to me it's a service to the community to flag whether
or not a user is OK for doing business with. It's not a gift or a service
to the person I post the feedback about, and not something to negotiate with.

You could be right about leaving feedback immediately increasing the odds of
getting feedback back, I had the same impression. Leaving it upon payment, I
think my feedback ratio is around 70% as you say.

Actually your feedback ratio is better then 70%, it is 81%. For a store with
5000+ orders that is a really good percentage. Makes we wonder if Euro countries
take leaving feedback more seriously or are you just a really nice guy?

Not so long ago I placed a 78 lot 1600ish piece order, from which there were
66(!) mistakes in 14 lots (even 1 entire lot missing). Is there logic in sending
a message to the seller for him to either refund me or send the missing parts?

We have made mistakes on orders over the years where customers contacted us about
missing pieces anywhere from couple of pieces to even missing a few lots. The
few over the years with missing lots were caused by either a ziplock bag not
getting into the envelope or unfortunately, just trying to fill a larger order
with over 80 to 100 lots just too fast. We have had customers contact us even
about missing just one piece and in all those instances, even customers missing
just that one piece in an order with over 100 lots and a value of less then $25.00,
in every case we will send the missing parts. We dont offer a refund, we just
send the missing piece or pieces along with a free bee bag of goodies because
of our mistake and our customers seem to really appreciate it.

Our customers paid us for a complete order so they should get a complete order.
You should not feel bad about contacting a store that does not send you everything
you ordered. I can appreciate not making a fuss over just a couple of pieces
that you really dont need but anything more then you should expect to get them
sent to you.

days. I had to refund the seller, but PayPal already took out their fee (and
won't return it) so the refund wouldn't process because now there is
less than the total amount in my PayPal account to refund back. I transferred
money over to PayPal, but it will take 3-5 business days. In the meantime the
buyer found what they wanted somewhere else, and they were understandably frustrated
(as am I).

Please support 2-step payments (split authorize / capture). I'm using that
now on another marketplace. It's so fantastic to be able to examine the order
details before committing to any fees.

Once instant payment is set up correctly the system works great. Things I just
dont want set up for instant checkout, like sets, I just set up for manual invoicing.
Plus, how often dose a store need to refund an order? I have had to do it only
a couple of times thru the years and it was usually because of not having a part
I thought I had but could not locate it so it was my bad.

If a store has to do a lot of refunds then maybe they are just not set up correctly.
I know there are exceptions, such as yourself because you dont want to sell to
certain people so you want the ability to cancel their orders and stop list them
but you are probably more of an exception in comparison to most stores selling
here so I dont really think that there would be much benefit to adding another
payment option which can make things possibly more confusing for buyers by adding
another layer to checking out.

Mistakes happen. We are people making mistakes.

If this is how mistakes are handled by this buyer ("pay me more than you owed
me as I am now forced to buy elsewehere at higher costs!") I would gladly block
this buyer. No matter how disappointed one gets, this is morally wrong IMO.

You did handle correct.

Actually, he probably did not handle it correctly. He has 4 negative feedbacks
from people stating that he canceled their order because he did not have what
they purchased and he admits this openly in his reply to all 4 of them saying
"Every seller started to list this set before they get it as it is an employee
set" and then on top of that he gave them all a retaliatory negative feedback
saying that they "Did not understand cancellation"? He left them the retaliatory
feedbacks even thou he was the one at fault when going against BrickLink's
terms knowingly listing sets he did not have and then canceling orders when people
purchased them.

He doesn't seem to have to real good track record for selling. Out of 97
feedbacks for selling he has 6 negatives and 1 neutral.

One difficulty is that PayPal might have the buyer ship the order back to the
seller to move a claim forward, hard to do if the buyer no longer has the order.

And another is one buyer not sending. If one posts what they incorrectly received
to someone else but don't get anything in return, they have given away something
that is not theirs to give away.

If he will not pay for the shipping then if both of you file an NSS against the
store then I bet he will respond because if you complete it then the store will
be closed down if just one more is completed against him and he will not want
that hanging over his head.

Best Regards.

On the other hand eliminating a large part of the market based purely on payment
method does not make good business sense. You can collect the sales tax in a
more conventional method - like bill us for it., or is that too difficult .

That's not possible.

As soon as a company (here: the marketplace) will declare a 1000€ VAT paid, they
DO owe it, and they will pay it.

Meaning that if the seller makes an indirect sale (like using IBAN or such) and
BL cannot collect this VAT amount (for any reason), they'll simply loose
this amount.

This isn't acceptable - especially if you multiply this risk by 30000+ shops.

On the other side; on site payments are 5 years old at least.
There's no reason not to set up those payment methods, especially if you
wish to be able to sell to this market (USA, etc.)

In short, the ball is in your camp; they won't change this IMHO.

Sylvain

unfortunately you have misread rhe thread it is not to do with vat only usa and
sales tax.

the ball, as you call it, is not in our court. it is firmly in Bricklink's.
they agreed in the beginning to investigate other payment options and have let
that fade away. as a business we would never give away control of our funds
nd that is what the terms of ppm state

Actually the ball is in your court. BrickLink has set up the rules in how you
can sell to customers in the US so it is now up to you to decide if you want
to abide by there rules or not. I know you have brought up many many arguments
against implementing onsite payments thru many many threads here but I think
you just need either bite the bullet and implement onsite payments or if not
then I think it is time to let it go and accept that BrickLink is not going to
change their policies concerning onsite payments in anyway that will be pleasing
to you. You just need to let it go and move on.

almost all of the air from them, so they're virtually vacuum-sealed. My goal
is that, if a random person were to shake the box/envelope, they wouldn't
be able to hear the sound of Lego parts inside.

Wow, I do this too!

We have used bunches and bunches of them also with next to no problems. Probably
most of us use allot of these types of envelopes and I think the reason that
very few problems crop up using these is because we are shipping them using regular
package rates and not the large envelope rate that the op mentioned using. A
long time ago I tried sending small orders of 1 or 2 small pieces by the large
envelope rate but found that it was just not worth the time and effort to make
it work and I was always worried that they would be damaged or sent back so I
only did it 2 or 3 times before I stopped.

I agree, it would have been good to mention the sand. The picture was really
good at showing the condition of the stickers but the sand in the picture could
be also seen as just some dirt and by looking at the picture the buyer really
couldn't have known that there was sand under some of the stickers. Mentioning
the sand probably would have negated any problems with the buyer and even if
it didn't you could at least be sure that you did all that you could have
done.

As a side note, I think I would leave a positive feedback even if he does not
leave feedback. It may help to your customer to feel better about the transaction.
Also, a small coupon to him may win you over a customer for the long term.

But dont you know that dogs rule!! I would like to have a cat but Skragle and
me are so close that he would never forgive me. He is with me literally 165 out
of 168 hours each week so I think he would kill the cat during one of those 3
hours and blame one of his flying dragon toys for the dastardly deed.

When I first got him I wanted his name to be Lego related so I came up with Skragle.
Not just because it fits him perfectly for his 24/7 morning hair but because
the name is Lego related.

We have had a couple of orders that were large enough that we did not want to

send it to the address on file with PayPal and they were fine with that.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, you are inquiring about the correctness
of using BrickLink to drive traffic to your BrickOwl store, where you charge
higher prices.

Do I understand this correctly ?

A simple “ I don’t think so “ would suffice mate . You need to take a chill pill
with the sassy remarks

What she asked is not sassy but it is exactly what you are asking or was she
wrong? What you are asking / suggesting I think to many here is kind of insulting
to the extent that you are willing to out price other stores in the hope that
you can then lure customers here on BL to your BrickOwl store where your prices
are higher. It is not that you are charging more on BrickOwl with no limitations
that is in any way questionable but that you are even asking if it is okay to
try to lure those customers away from BrickLink by the manner you are hoping
to achieve that that can be rather unpalatable.
