I just saw it’s considered as a decorated part by Studio: you need to check that
you’re not filtering them out.
https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6502499385111-Finding-and-filtering-parts

If you still don’t find it, check you aren’t also filtering by colour availability
and haven’t chosen a colour it doesn’t exist in.

Or, less likely, maybe you hid the part (look in the Hidden Parts palette).

I might have to ask to add in the forum like the manual suggests.

Again, this isn't a big deal for us, just cheesed that we put the work for

'You fix our mistake at your expense!' Gee, that's nice.

Yeah, this was a great opportunity for that mother to teach her kid to take responsibility,
instead she's enabling and validating it.
No compassion for small family business either.
Oh well, moving on

Bricklink Admin was very helpful and terminated the account,
We have a good stream of order and even though it hurts (our employees make good
wages, this is an hour to pack and an hour to return in addition to paypal fees),
it's the price of doing business and we can afford it- we're happy this
didn't happen to a user with less resources.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I wonder how many UK customers order from US sellers per day, and how many orders
will get caught up at customs because of it.

Just wondering if I'm out of line here. I've got 100% positive feedback
and I pride myself on being a good buyer, I pay within minutes, I respond to
every message, and I have only ever had good interactions with sellers.

Sometimes a completed order will go weeks without the seller giving me (what
I hope will be positive) feedback. Is it unreasonable to ask them to provide
it before the order gets purged?

A recent interaction simply says "Deleted without reading" ... am I bothering
this seller? Just feels weird.

Thanks for any input

Not unreasonable at all!
We try to leave feedback for every order but with over 6,000 online orders we
sometimes miss, we try to go over the orders we missed every month or so.
If it is important for you as a buyer then we would much rather you asked us
as we aim to provide a good customer experience.
Best wishes and great week ahead.

I received an order earlier today from an address less than 2 miles from our
home. (It was a simple order totaling $50, containing a single minifig) Packaged
and invoiced within 10 mins. The newish-to-BL/new-to-us buyer, paid immediately
followed by “thanks, I just paid” comms. So the order was labeled and ready for
USPS drop-off within 20 mins of it being placed. I normally wait for other outgoing
packages at the end of the day to post. But as my daughter had a package awaiting
pick up, I figured I'd take the single package to the PO to grab her package.

I jumped into our truck with the package, started the truck only to pause staring
forward down the driveway, contemplating: The man only lives 6 minutes away,
shouldn’t I just drive to his home and place the package on his front doorstep?
How silly is it to drive the same distance to mail the package? He’ll likely
receive his order within 24 hours anyway, but still? I could file for a refund
for the $3.27 label, later?

It’s not the first time this scenario has play out though, as I’m certain
it has for some of you too.

Tell me what you’d do and I’ll tell you what I did...

-popsicle

Happened a couple of times, since we pay our employees a very fair wage we wrote
the buyer that one of our employees can leave early and drop it off on the way
home and we'll use the shipping cost to cover the employee time OR mail it
and they can have it in a couple of days.
They always picked the first option and said it was more than reasonable to keep
the shipping fee.
We never had an issue BUT we made sure to get a picture taken of the package
by the door.
Best wishes
THB.

Happened to us a few times. It seems if you tried to check out but canceled at
some point, the subsequent orders will be treated as a new order.

I don't know how to fix it. Ask seller to combine shipping is a good option.

Please refer to our reply to janzenroth on why it's not a great option.
Thank you.

I would ask the seller to combine both orders on one bill - This is easy enough
as adding a credit to the second order so that it is equal to zero and an additional
charge on the first one. That way you are only paying once (one time paypal
fee etc.)

It is not ideal, but it works.

Evan

This is not a good option when sales tax is involved because we have to use the
onsite checkout in order for bricklink to collect the sales tax so both orders
will require onsite payment which raises the fees for the seller in 2 ways:
1- extra paypal transaction fee
2- since this order is over $500- the seller gets a reduced commission on any
dollar amount over the $500- if we placed a second order the seller would pay
full commission on the second order.
So this option would violate BL rules on tax collection, would violate tax rules
and would cost the seller more commission.
Thanks.
THB.

Happened a couple times for me, but I thought it was because the seller disabled
VAT because our order was B2B inside EU, and then the second batch was showing
as placing a new order and it is what ended happening, but for you that can't
be the case...

Also I cleared the cart in between, first batch, cart filled (showing batch #2),
clear cart, fill cart again and no showing batch addition, so a second order.

Did you do those steps?

Didn't work, tried clearing cart, logging out, logging in, then placing items
back in cart but it's showing as starting a new order.
I'm in the USA seller in Germany.

Trying to find items in our inventory and it shows 'no items found'
You can see in this example on the screenshots:
1- Duplo Minifigures available in our shop to buy
2- the main inventory screen showing we have 142 Duplo Minifigs in 14 lots
3- when we try to edit our quantities the screen is showing 'No Items Found'

This is happening across a few categories (all the Duplo ones)

Please help! who should we contact?

  Hi Tanja,

Related to this, could you share anything regarding sales tax exemption for resellers
(and/or non-profits)? I believe in a previous forum thread around a year ago,
we were told that this would be implemented around Q1 2021, and now we are in
Q4, and I haven't heard an update (I could have missed an update, I don't
have time to visit the forums often).

Really looking forward to this, I think the lack of a sales tax exemption option
could be really hurting business for US sellers, and of course for BL, because
some potential buyers could be choosing to shop elsewhere. Rolling this feature
out could really help Bricklink compete with other marketplaces, including 2
other platforms that I think could be considered BL's direct competition,
both of which do offer sales tax exemption for resellers.

If/when there is any news to share it would be greatly appreciated if it could
be shared via email newsletter as well as on the forums.

Thank-you!

Erik (Ben's Brickstore)

Tonya,

Take cover, incoming VAT/Sales Tax implementation complaints by the truckload.

Set No: 2634 Name: Truck
*
2634-1 (Inv) Truck
6 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1983
Sets: DUPLO: DUPLO, Town: Construction

As a representative of a store that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on
LEGO every year I can only support Erik’s point and tell you that we have shifted
a lot of our spending away from Bricklink because of its non-accommodation of
our tax exemption certificate.
~7% extra for tax we should be exempt from may seem like a small percentage but
it adds up to tens of thousands of dollars a year for us, it also compounds when
we shop overseas as we have to pay a steep currency conversion fee to PayPal
for that extra 7%.
Shifting money away from Bricklink sellers is a heart breaking decision for us
as we like to support small family businesses which would help support many afol
families and the Bricklink community.
Please help us get this done.
Best wishes.

It means the seller doesn't want to sell more than 3 different items (which
we agree is ridiculous) this is not an issue with the website but more of an
issue with an individual seller with a ridiculous policy.
When you visit a shop, the amount of lots you can purchase will be stated in
the top right side, good idea to check before committing time to look at the
shop.
Plenty of seller will be happy to provide help when you contact them.
Best wishes.

I tried shortly after Russell posted and the bug was still there not letting
purchase with a warning.

But now I just opened the global cart and your store is good to shop, so seems
solved now!

I see the same behavior - global cart works fine.

The one thing I didn't test was whether a cart started before the bug was
fixed would be good after the fix. Hopefully that's all worked out as well.

I didn't modify the cart since the other day, so yeah, all should be fine

Thank you and everyone for helping out.

We posted about the issues with the global cart over the weekend.
Now we're getting buyers saying that even without using the global cart feature;
they are checking out and (from a buyer): "I placed the order and the cart disappeared
like it was accepted. However, the order is not showing on the purchase list."
This has been the a very slow weekend order wise with over a dozen buyers complaining
that they haven't been able to checkout, those were regular buyers so they
figured it was a glitch but can't imagine how many buyers just assumed we
do not cater to their region.
Anyone else have these issues?
Has anyone heard anything regarding when this will be fixed?
Any indication that the checkout issue is also known? (Admin acknowledged they
were working on the global cart issue on friday).

We had a few buyers reporting they got 'technical Error' message while
trying to checkout.
One user discovered a workaround to bypass this issue:
They submitted a 'request for quote' request instead of an order at checkout
and then accepted the quote we provided which generated the order without issue.

Hopefully this helps some sellers and buyers connect until the issue is fixed.
Best wishes to all.

We've been getting multiple report of similar nature,
One buyer found a workaround and submitted a 'request a quote' and accepted
the quote once we quoted the shipping cost- it'll only work in stores that
accept quotes i guess.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for letting us know,
The workaround is to go buy the items directly in the shop and NOT use the 'global
shopping cart' feature- that seems to be the workaround.
This has been plaguing us all day, we're up to buyer from 7 states (including
our own).
We imagine many other shops may be experiencing it and the buyers might look
elsewhere without inquiring.
So far the consensus is that it is a bricklink bug in the 'global cart'
feature.
Wish we had any reply or indication that this is being worked on but so far we
haven't heard anything, hopefully it gets fixed soon as we're entering
the busiest time of the year.
Thank you,
The Heart Bricker Crew

Received a similar complaint from a buyer in Massachusetts, this is a lot that
we sold many times with NO issues.
we have not gotten any response from BL.
If this is happening to us then it is happening to many other sellers without
them knowing it, we are still getting other orders coming through.
Would love to get help on this.

I can't explain that message but ask anyway what precisely your buyer has
in their cart, and see if you can reproduce an error with that cart. Maybe there's
like a square kilometer sticker sheet because someone made a mistake entering
dimensions or who knows what There are 54 lots, maybe one of them is acting
up. It would explain why other orders to Ohio are fine while this one isn't.

We do not have IC, only onsite payment so everyone gets an invoice so i'm
not sure what would cause this because even if it was a size issue then it shouldn't
matter when you send manual invoices.

This is a very serious problem for you, the cart page doesn't let you go
to the store as the buttons are disabled.

You are the only US store in my carts lists with this problem, the others show
everything correctly...

If I go to the store I can checkout

Yea, we definitely ship to Spain, not sure why you get this message.
If this happens to us is might happen to other sellers and non of us would know
we lost business.

All our invoices are sent manually, no IC.
We do have onsite payment set up and have many orders from OH regularly.
The order consists only of parts and no sets.
It might be something in the user's setting.

Is it a new user? Do you have your store options setup where new users can only
use IC? If this is the case, they will never see the Invoice shipping option
and hence now shipping options available. I had this not to long ago. Under
store management you will see the setting.

We only have onsite payment, no IC, the box is checked off anyways.

Selling LEGO can be profitable, but there are sacrifices to be made (in both
time and living accommodations). Trying to convey the true picture, to someone
newly arrived, could be like dashing their hopes. I wish them well, but it isn't
always going to work (like they dream it might).

+100! Well stated.
Might also be a generational issue; I have siblings that are 15 years younger
and their approach to achieving their goals is entirely different than what I’ve
grown up with; both have decided to become professionals (one in the equities
market and the other in nutrition) however; instead of taking professional or
academic courses- they have chosen to open social media pages and dispense information
and advice.
To my surprise; both are experiencing success and are even approached by followers
on their social media pages asking them to mentor/teach. The people who ask to
mentored are well aware of my siblings lack of formal/academic education in
their respective subjects yet are willing to shell out money for the advice/lessons.
While I am supportive and happy of their success; I feel extremely conflicted
as their paths go against everything I was thought to do in order to achieve
success (study hard, don’t take shortcuts, never be too confident to believe
that you know everything, hard work being more sustainable than luck…).
I can’t help but thinking that maybe a generation that was always told that they
can be whatever they want if they only believe in themselves were set up to fail
since no one ever told them that it’s a little more complicated than just “believing
in yourself”.
I’d like to think that the old advice I received would stand the test of time
but I also don’t want to see my siblings fail even though they have taken some
major shortcuts…

There are members (ever-present here) in the forum, that consistently chime-in
with advise for others, most of whom are brand new to the site. These low experienced
(vis-à-vis transactional feedback) members read that of the more experienced
member to then regurgitate the information opportunistically, often without a
full understanding of the info. Which leads to a lot of misinformation being
dispensed to new members whom naturally swallow it wholesale.

I my experience, misinformation or half truths are far more detrimental to that
of having no information.

Not naming names, but to those whom might fit this descriptor, please self-reflect
a little. It's admirable that you're trying to help, but maybe moderate
somewhat. Know your limits.

Thanks

I always cringe when I see Bricklink users request and dispense tax advice to
other users; much of it is utterly wrong or speculative, seems like the last
thing you should ask for free advice from a non tax professional.

We get asked at least once a month by new local sellers if they can come over
to see how our shop is set up and how we manage such large inventory (most of
them condition making a purchase on such visits) we politely explain that our
shop is not set up for walk in traffic (insurance wise) and we run it from a
residential property (that is licensed for our business purposes) and explain
that just like they might not let a stranger into their residence- neither do
we. Being a store that pays an honest wage, spending time mentoring a seller
is also costly for us though we have given advice when asked by sellers we’re
friendly with and never given tax advice or any advice on a subject we’re not
familiar with.

Long story short; definitely agree with your sentiments but would also add that
one who requests advice from a stranger is at least 50% to blame if it backfired.
That being said, many wise and established individuals have fallen victim to
the lure of a seemingly well put together smart individual that they never vetted.
Ever heard of Elizabeth Holmes ? 😂

What's the added value to the usual Lego brick purchasing?

Same as the regular feedback; zero value

our fine federal govt has thrown in a rule for paypal or similar users. Used

to be a huge pain in the butt doing all the paper work to show costs of doing
my lego business. Anyone else just seeing this information? Don't want
others to be shocked at tax time. Thank you Joe.

These rules have been set long before the current administration took over, you
keep putting these messages both here and on other forums hoping to bait people
into political debate- you have constantly been given the facts which show that
you are obviously wrong so you ignore facts and try posting somewhere else.
What’s the matter? You annoyed your friends and family with political debates
so you moved on to engage strangers?
LEGO is our ‘Happy place’ - don’t soil it with political digs.
This is coming from someone who despises both political parties with the same
vigor; you just sound like some brain washed cult drone.
Peace
