Thanks, but...

For those that continuously post USPS rate hikes: they are as foreseeable as
they are inevitable. Simply factor the inflationary increases that have historically
taken place, into your shipping costs. No need for such updates, they will continue
to increase, anually

American are super lucky to have USPS at it's domestic rates. Shipping in
and out of Canada has gotten insanely expensive.

In Problem Order, Kefir101Awesome writes:
  Hello there,

A rather large domestic ($50 USD) order was confirmed by a completely new buyer,
but then 30 minutes later the buyer made an order cancel request, citing the
reason under, "System Problem", with details "urgent buy, cannot wait for the
pending order". Bricklink says that buyer remorse or finding cheaper prices is
not a valid reason for canceling this order, and this is probably the case here,
but I also do not want to risk receiving negative feedback and ruin my 100% seller
praise. I reached out to the buyer yesterday with a high-priority flag, but no
response. What should I do?

Thank you.

I would not bother to try and hold the buyer to their obligation of placing the
order. That just opens the potential to many more issues. It's best to just
end the transaction as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Get the buyer to send you an order cancellation request through this link: https://www.bricklink.com/retractOrder.asp
Under reason, have them state "buyer mistake"

If 7 days since purchase passes with no response, just file it under as a NPB.

If they quickly send out a cancellation request, I wouldn't bother to even
leave feedback.

If you have to wait a week through the NPB process in which your inventory is
stuck in limbo, I'd leave a negative once the NPB is finalized through Bricklink.

Past the point of a NPB or cancellation, Bricklink will remove any retaliatory
feedback since the buyer never met their end of the obligation to start, which
is sending payment.

10123-1 (Inv) Cloud City
675 Parts, 7 Minifigures, 2003
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6
that unfortunately has several cracked minifigs.
I've been trying for a bit to sell it, but I really don't know how much
the imperfect minifigs devalue the set.
If you've got any feedback, I'd love to hear it.

https://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Classicsmiley&itemID=307730878

Seems like 3k is about what a really nicely preserved copy goes for. One gently
used with some imperfections would likely be a bit under that. The only imperfections
really affecting your value are the cracked Boba arm (~$300), cracked leia torso
(~$100) and torn box.

I'd say somewhere in and around $2500 would be right in range for a fair
value.

I'm not sure if I'll be kicking myself later on over an increase in value
but given what I currently make, I'm not really sure about that either. Right
now, I really don't care enough about the set to worry about losing anything
on it so I'm going to list it in my store for $330 with free shipping and
insurance. That is, once I can muster the effort it'll take to reverse disassemble
the behemoth into numbered bags on the customer's behalf.

I personally think it's an ugly build but that's just me.

What excited me about this castle was the fact that it's the first parts-pack
that works well for moc castle building in a long time. The creator castle had
too many off colors and a lack of arches and castle-specific elements.

If I were you, I'd sell the figures/instructions/box separately for right
around $200-250 and keep the castle elements to make something new.

Ever say that? (The thing in the title)

It’s so annoying. It’s the only thing I don’t like about selling on BL, because
eventually I wish I had it back in my personal collection. It actually kind of
hurts sometimes, as many of the items I’ve sold I grew up playing with. It hurts
to watch myself sell my childhood away. Every now and then I just start kicking
myself for selling stuff. Is it just me? Or does any other seller feel the same
way? Sometimes I’m actually tempted to close up shop and keep everything to myself…
*sigh*
-Bricks of Faith (feeling sentimental and sad)

I regret selling most everything I have since prices have pretty much doubled
on everything vintage the past two years.

Today I get a paypal dispute (wth??) I figure out its a brickink transaction
but have heard nothing here, no communication, nada.

Guy broke a vintage figure trying to pry off the arm, he said it must be fake
because this happens AND there's no logo inside the feet.

I respond with "that color from that era breaks easily, and I've never even
heard about a logo inside the feet (which I just checked some when I got home,
looks like some had it and some don't, which is typical for lego)

I then realize he's left me a neg with the pretty serious accusation of the
fig being fake.

He refuses to send pics of the hips and torso with the logo.

I think he broke it and is just crying fake to get a refund. I told paypal I'd
refund him on its return. The stupid part is if he had just messaged me I probably
would have just refunded it to be nice to a fellow collector.

I'm screwed on the FB right? Sigh

Crystal

I feel like negative feedback should be able to be appealed to Bricklink if the
seller offers to pays a refund and return shipping on a return or with any partial
refund offer that the buyer accepts. That already puts the seller at a loss on
the transaction at the buyer's terms.

Seeing long term, high volume members have scores tainted by new members who
might not be entirely trust worthy, reasonable or even over 18 seems very unfair.

I have perhaps one of the largest misprints ever. Raised baseplate part # 2552px3.
Not only is it missing the rock print on the top, it's been mistakenly applied
to the underside of the baseplate. Baseplate is in really good condition for
a 30 year old vintage part, no cracks or bends that are common in these, color
is good.

Priced at $400USD. It's a real one of a kind piece for a collector of misprints
or vintage parts.

Hi everyone, looking for some general advice please.

A family friend gifted my son a mint condition unopened Lego System Aquasharks
Kit 6135, which they'd had in a cupboard at home for over 20 years.

Being that it looks like it was bought in a shop just yesterday I just wanted
to check if a kit like this carries some crazy value that we'd be kicking
ourselves over, if we just let him tear it open and start playing.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Set sold on another auction website for 90AUD just recently. Unopened Aquazone
is really hard to come by since no one really saved it as a collectible, but
the fanbase is a lot smaller than licensed themes. So while there are none on
the market currently, they don't bring in crazy money.

That said, if it's intended to be used as a toy, that money could buy something
10x the size at retail.

Automotive paint shops will custom mix you up an aerosol can based on a colour

Some pictures attached of what I could find.

I sold 95% of my collection at the exact same time to purchase my first car,
including a unopened cloud city and several things of sentimental value that
have become unobtainable.

Best not to think back at the what-ifs and focus on the present and be grateful
for what we have. After all, we all could have loaded up on different assets
at the time and seen even more exponential growth of value. I also think we are
only caretakers of the things we own. The great thing about Lego is it's
longevity, so in a way it's good knowing that the Lego I own now will be
valued and enjoyed by other people in the future.

The regrets are not really overwhelming. I got close to half a million for my
collection and it took over two years. I am very thankful for Bricklink. Since
then I am selling my Simpsons collection and Wizkids Star Trek Attack Wing and
Heroclix. Not nearly as much bad regrets combined not as valuable as Lego; Lego
is really something special.
(Something funny I think, when I was have a room 27' x 26' for my lego
collection the people in the neighborhood would ask me "What is the addition
you are building, a bedroom or media room?" When I said a Lego room they
would look at me like I was crazy and change the subject." Non-Lego fanatics
just do not understand real meaning of Lego in all its different facets.)

John P

That is insane John. Out of curiosity, what are some of the Lego items you decided
to keep out of a collection like that?

  Hello.
I purchased some Cloud City minifigs and after examining them I noticed some
print issues on on Boba Fett. His left arm, left leg, and torso (black lines
are too far left) are off register. The right arm printing is off center. The
rest of the figs from the group seem fine except the head on Darth Vader, the
bags under his eyes are off center. All the parts are marked Lego except: Boba
helmet is marked inside top center with a “2”, and no mark on any of the blocked
open stud heads. The seller is no Lego expert, but knew some figures from this
set were valuable. He asked a fair price, and offered a full refund if they are
not real. I have seen other Lego torsos printed off register, so it’s not unheard
of, but due to the price I would appreciate the opinions of some seasoned Lego
fans.
Thank you in advance. Lia

For early 2000s Lego, often times having a perfect print is more uncommon than
a misprint. That sort of factory error is perfectly normal for the era. If you
have any of the early 2000s EP. II clone troopers or "moustache" storm troopers,
you can see that it's hard to find two that are alike.

From everything I see, the boba fett figure and the vader head look perfectly
legitimate. The "2" inside the helmet matches the one I have from a Jabba's
Prize set I opened from new. Those jetpack helmets weren't stamped with the

  Hey folks,

I recently came into possession of an old Lego keychain from the Rock Raiders
series; this item is not listed on Bricklink yet and I was wondering if there
was a way to submit this item to be listed?

I don't have a seller's account, don't intend on selling it, but
as someone who has the only one currently known to exist, I felt somewhat responsible
to make sure it gets listed. Any insight on how to do that would be appreciated!

I'm curious as the what character it is. I know of ; [G=3916]

But haven't seen any others.

  Hello All,

I hope that Lego increases the maximum amount of preorders per set. I made the
stupid decision of not ordering the Observatory and the train station for my
brother when I saw it around the 4000 unit mark at around 10:44 AM - I tried
calling my brother thrice on my cell to confirm, but he didn't picked up.
I figured thst it would still be available later today. I checked at around
noon AM, and it was sold out; the train station barely reached the maximum 10,000
units nark. With that said, I panicked and ordered it quickly. After calling
my other brother on the phone about missing out on the Observatory, I checked
Bricklink, and the train station just sold out.

Even though my brothers and I are adults, we share our Lego collection.

I have read months before that Lego increased the maximum order amount for round
1. I hope they do it again since all the sets in roind 3 seem to sell out within
the day - it took a few days for rpund 2 to sell out.

I don't think preorders will be reopened. When they were after round one,
it pushed production times back significantly. Round 3's sets are already
scheduled to ship March of 2023, which is nearly a year from now.

Almost every big set I've received recently has come creased. Apparently
Lego thinks a single sheet of brown paper is enough packaging.

The designers all did a lovely job!

We've seen this trend across the Designer Program, so I think the town sets
have the most broad appeal. Certainly some of the sets that made it through to
production probably wouldn't have if there were more town sets to choose
from in their round. (For example, the Observatory was originally supposed to
be in Round 1, and based on how fast it got funded the Kākāpō wouldn't have
made the cut if it had been.)

I wonder if this will impact how LEGO handles future Designer Programs or not.

I'm honestly a tad shocked Brickwest Studios didn't make it. It seemed
like the most substantial set at $280US.

Some great sets again.

Hopefully we have a more fair and equal chance to purchase at least ONE set as
in the former rounds almost all sets were harvested by resellers.
Or the available sets per country were so limited there was no chance of obtaining
one.
The Fishing Boat in round 2 was a true gem. Never got one because after 15 seconds
they were 'sold out'.

Man what a disaster that was.
These sets are for sale now at 300-500 USD.
Started to collect the parts and have one these days but would have loved the
original set.

Castle in the Forest was the only one that went immediately; sold out within
15 minutes, but many people were unable to even access check out due to the flood
of orders.

Fishing Boat was available a while, then made available again a second time when
funding was reopened due to demand.

who seems to have an issue with this buyer too.

Right now, I am unable to retract as my parcel was posted. And PayPal has withheld
the payment from this buyer pending review, which I've submitted all relevant
documents hoping the chargeback will be denied.

There is nothing I can do now. The buyer doesn't even respond to my email

the order, I can only leave a negative feedback but I will be charged BrickLink's
fees as the order cannot be cancelled. Please help, as this is unfair to sellers
who might have faced buyer fraud like I did.

I hope BrickLink will be able to void or do something about this order. I already
lost my item to the buyer as it's been shipped out, in addition to PayPal's
fees I had to absorb. I hope BrickLink will be able to do something about the
fees on this order.

Hoping for some advice on how to proceed.

Have you tried to contact the post office to have your parcel returned? It isn't
gone until it's in the hands of the buyer.

Regarding the shipping time, Canada post can easily take a month or more to deliver
to the USA depending on what shipping service was used (even if they say it doesn't
take that long) and doesn't always have tracking. I'm not defending the
seller or anything but I just wanted to mention this. The part where you said
"Canadian Post takes about 4-6 days according to their website" would only apply
to one/some of their shipping services and not all.

Depends what shipping service they used as well. Only small packet and lettermail
don't include a tracking number. Both options can take an extremely long
time when crossing the border, that's why I opt not to use them. 2 weeks
plus is normal for those services.

I'd also use neither service to ship out an expensive order because there's
no insurance coverage.

I'd ask to see a copy/photo of their shipping receipt before escalating to
a claim.

The part was flipped the wrong way when the rocks were printed on it. Resulting
in both sides being printed, and the top missing a partial print. I haven't
seen anything quite like it before and am surprised it exists, made it past quality

I have got some cheap second hand sets from a seller. I got the Lego Tower of

resulted in dust gathering.

Some of the 16 tooth peices have gathered almost half a centimetre of dust. Others
like the floors of the building, (namely the basement) have gathered LAYERS of
dust and even after washing the baseplates the dust is still there.

I have also tried swabbing them with cotton balls.

I really need a way to remove the layers of dust. Anything help will be much
appreciated.

Thanks,
The Cute Giraffe

If compressed air doesn't work and the dust is stuck on, the best thing to
do is completely disassemble it and wash it. A mild dish soap in warm water works
well. I usually put some pieces in a plastic colander in a sink, use a tooth
brush to agitate the dirt, rinse everything off and leave it on a towel for a
couple days to fully dry.

Downsizing my collection and decided to let go of some of my extra vintage figures.

There's a total of 80, all in gently used condition. Almost all from the
town theme. Have it listed as a custom lot in my store for $100USD.

The only consistent issue I've had is about 10 Lord of the Rings orcs all
have their heels crack from being on CMF stands for 5+ years. That was right
at the height of Lego's pigment issues though and brittle brown was one of
the worst colors. Those figures in general just feel bad in their joints and
plastic quality as well. Worse than fakes.

I don't trust aftermarket studs for long term display of valuable figures.
I don't trust that small companies use the same tolerances that Lego is capable
of. Lego tape is a really neat idea for play, but I wouldn't stick hundreds,
if not thousands of dollars worth of figures on it long term.

Any figure is really capable of cracking at any point, Lego figures are just
thin abs plastic under constant friction. If someone is really particular, you
can store it in a dark, climate controlled space with the hands out and legs
out, but in my mind there's really no joy in owning something like that.

I largely collect vintage figures from the 80s / 90s and have found them to be
the best overall for plastic quality. The pre-dyed abs pellets Lego used to use
are superior to the pigmented trans plastic used now in terms of strength and
longevity.

It has just enough friction to keep a figure upright and hold it into place without
putting pressure on a stud. You probably have one in your collection to test
out as it's a fairly common piece, in the snowtrooper battle pack as well.

I am now guessing they are something unofficial.
So does anyone know what they are?

That's correct. At one point I had 200 of these. Apparently a bunch found
their way out of factory, and bulk lots were popping up of thousands of them
a couple years back.

I have a customer tell me that a large part of these colored parts that I sent
are brittle. While I understand this problem, this is the first time anyone
has contacted me about this.

First a few facts: Out of the 75 total parts in the order, there were 43 total
items of these colors, 20 new, 23 used. 33 were Reddish Brown and 10 were Dark
Red. He says 32 of the 43 were brittle. It was a mix of 2x4 bricks and various
sizes of 2xn plates. I don't ever stack new parts, so I can't really
test them. I do stack used parts, but unstack them before I ship. I have had
brittle used parts break when I unstack them with my fingers.

He chose my offer to replace them, with the info that I can only do this once.
He told me he found the brittle ones when he used the brick separator to take
them apart (he put them together). When I pulled the replacement parts I put
them together and pulled them apart, similar to what he did. Of the 32 replacements
I found only 4 to be brittle. It took a LOT of force with the separator to break
them.

I am irritated with this situation. One, because of the high number of parts
he is telling me broke. I have never had that many parts break on me in the 19
years of buying and selling here. Two, because it is costing me more than the
order total to ship the replacements.

I have shipped the replacements regardless, it's built into my prices. I
always try to make it right.

What have you done in these situations? What is your experience with brittle
bricks? Are these brittle ones only from the 2004-2008 era? I don't think
I have anything new from that time still.

Thanks for your input,
Donna

My guess is that the buyer was replacing the brittle bricks they broke whilst
putting together a set and then stress tested every single replacement one you
sent.

But I've definitely noticed this. I have a lot of Uruk Hai figures from this
era made from dark red and brown and I just recently took them out of storage
and the joints on some of them actually creak.

Right now, I keep almost all of my figures in tackle boxes. But I'd like
to put some up for display and hang it up on a wall. I'm not a huge fan of
just lining them up on a big base plate.

Solid stud head so it's an old one too. Never noticed it before. But then
again, I'm going through about 2000 figs right now.

Sorting through my vintage figures and noticed this one looked a little off.
Don't know if this is a common mistake, but thought it looked a tad funny
and wanted to share.

Is there a query for BL to find out which parts are low stock or out of stock?
I have looked at the API, and it seems to cover a seller's own shop pretty
well, but I am talking about discovering which parts are OOS in North America
for the entire site.

As others have said, low stock is relative to the specific piece.

A good place to look for what's desirable is by searching the wanted list
statistics:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogStatsWanted.asp?itemType=M

In terms of just general parts, dark & light blueish gray sells extremely well
because it's used a lot in mocs and purchasable instructions; castles, city,
star wars, military, landscaping, etc.

Stock on a lot of vintage items is getting bare too. Most sellers don't want
to go through the ordeal of sorting through bulk, used vintage lots, most just
like to part new things out. Depends if you have the patience for that though.

you won't have any luck with $200. Bricklink isn't really a bartering

sellers might negotiate on the pricea tiny bit, but most won't because someone

Wow... I thought when I found one unknowingly in a used lot I purchased about
10 years ago and sold it for $100.00 or so that I was getting a huge profit and
was very pleased at the profit...

Well on a eurobricks forum from 2010 the set was said to sell for $60 used, so
the figures were probably just starting to get expensive around that time.

Really? I recall Boba Fett was about $100 back in 2010 and Lando being about
half that if he had his cape. So $60 for a used set including all the minifigs
would have been a real bargain.

I found an invoice the other day from 2012. It had SW107 = $155.00 on it.

One of many regrets. Prices in canadian dollars from 2009.

so I’m new here. Please be kind. I was wondering if anyone was willing to part
with a SW0107 Cloud City Boba Fett. I only have $200. I know that’s a very cheap
price for a figure of that value, but I could possibly add a few items to even
it out. Please message me if you are interested in parting with your Cloud City
Boba Fett. Please note, I am only accepting offers with the variant from 10123.

You can buy a replica Boba Fett 10123 from ebay and save up for the real thing.
I've seen some sold recently there and they look pretty good. Some were
$200+ on auction.

I got a fake one in a bulk lot and was all excited until I noticed it was of
the lepin variety. They use to sell for like $3 on ebay. Now even those complete
fakes are $40+ since they're no longer attainable.

The odd thing is, that was a $200 figure for nearly 20 years after it's release.
It's only in the past few years that it skyrocketed.

I think a lot of speculative investing is happening, not collecting and enjoying
at this point. In my opinion, no figure is worth more than a couple hundred.
God forbid it cracks.

Better grab some Palpatine & Inquisitor minifigs while you can. Looks like they're
in Kenobi the way Cad Bane was in Boba Fett. Can't wait to see who else makes

It kind of boggles my mind how figures that are a couple years old are fetching
$50-$100 each.
