| You are a great seller, and buyer. You will come across this eventually. I wouldn't
be the least hesitant to purchase from your store.
As far as a vintage figure is concerned, I try to do as little adjustment as
possible. I think the buyer may have damaged it themselves. I certainly would
not have jumped right to stating you are selling bogus figs.
In Help, Adjour writes:
| New buyer, bought a vintage fig. Sent out no issues when received etc.
Today I get a paypal dispute (wth??) I figure out its a brickink transaction
but have heard nothing here, no communication, nada.
Guy broke a vintage figure trying to pry off the arm, he said it must be fake
because this happens AND there's no logo inside the feet.
I respond with "that color from that era breaks easily, and I've never even
heard about a logo inside the feet (which I just checked some when I got home,
looks like some had it and some don't, which is typical for lego)
I then realize he's left me a neg with the pretty serious accusation of the
fig being fake.
He refuses to send pics of the hips and torso with the logo.
I think he broke it and is just crying fake to get a refund. I told paypal I'd
refund him on its return. The stupid part is if he had just messaged me I probably
would have just refunded it to be nice to a fellow collector.
I'm screwed on the FB right? Sigh

why it showed I shipped everywhere. Thanks for pointing that out. I have sold
to several different countries in the past, but my last shipment to Brazil was
a 3 month headache. I decided to just ship within the US right now.

| People state they will accept the risk, but they will not. You will have a PayPal
claim as soon as they are impatient. The postage cost is starting to be prohibitive
for a lot of transactions. Safeguard yourself and send it the way that protects
you, and hopefully gets it to your buyer with no issue.
In LEGO, billamber writes:
| Hi all,
I have received an order from Italy. The order is for 3 figures for a total of
$39.
Shipping is ridiculous ($16), plus whatever VAT the person must pay.
Here's the question:
The buyer has written three times now, requesting I send the figures in a letter.
I have said no every time and suggested cancelling the order, but now the buyer
is begging (lol), and saying they will assume any risk.
Has anyone ever sent 3 minifigs in a letter?

| I was just forced to switch over 2 days ago. I saw the same banner for the past
several months as well, but it just happened. The only charges I have seen so
far are my labels I printed through PayPal. Would the charges be showing up in
another location? I did read most of the user terms and it stated it was "free",
but what people tell you and what they do are totally different now anyway.
In Shipping, axaday writes:
| I have been monitoring the PayPal Shipstation issue now for 8 months. That is
when I first started getting banners that PayPal shipping would be changing.
Little by little, people are switching over. I don’t understand how it can operate
that way. I would have expected one company to have a license until a certain
date when another company takes over. But after 8 months I am still just as
I always was. I got an email once that my changeover was imminent, but it was
not imminent. I saw people say here that you had to go sign up, but I didn’t
sign up because it didn’t seem like it was impressing the people who did. Now
I am reading here of people that are being charged. I know I saw banners on PayPal
saying it would stay free and I didn’t have to do anything. Now I am wondering
if all the people who got charged are people who went and signed up.
Is there anyone here who actually knows the entire story?

seen much speculation on it, but I may just be too early looking for info on
it. Thank you.

| To protect buyers, make BrickLink a safer site for everyone, and encourage sellers
to perform at a minimum level, I suggest that if a BrickLink store has less than
95% positive feedback as a seller, a red banner should appear on the top of the
checkout page saying:
"WARNING! BUYERS BEWARE! READ THIS SELLER'S FEEDBACK BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER!"
If the seller has less than 90% positive feedback as a seller, another banner
should appear if the buyer ignores the first one and submits their order. This
second banner should say: "SERIOUSLY?!? ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO GO AHEAD WITH
THIS ORDER?!? READ THE FEEDBACK! DON'T BE AN IDIOT! PRACTICE SAFE ONLINE
INTERCOURSE! FIND A SAFER PARTNER. OR DON'T COME CRYING TO US IF YOU GET
BURNED BY THIS SELLER! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK! DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON!"
OK, I am joking about the least one. But I think an appropriate banner might
help avoid SOME of these problems.

Thanks, Thor. That gave me a good chuckle. I'd go for both banners.
Not to highjack the thread, but here are two other easy changes that I think
would address the same issue.
1) Stop treating buyer feedback the same as seller feedback. It doesn't
make sense that a seller can easily boost their feedback simply by placing a
bunch of small orders.
2) Stop showing feedback as simply a single number (Positive minus Negative).
It'd be much better to show them separately (Positive/Negative/Neutral).
Current method (which seller would you pick?):
Seller A (1385)
Seller B (741)
Proposed method (now which seller would you pick?):
Seller A (1431+ / 46- / 10n)
Seller B (742+ / 1- / 1n)

| Yes Mike, that was my implication. My order that I received was from someone
who did acknowledge it, and stated since they did no wrong in the TOS that I
was basically out of luck. Their lack of care is why I think there should be
some liability attached to the seller at point of listing.
In Suggestions, MikeS writes:
| I don't think that Jim (original post) is suggesting having a checkbox when adding
parts to inventory like [ ] New, [ ] Used, [ ] Sealed, [ ] Incomplete, etc.
I think he was merely suggesting that BrickLink add it to the Help section for
used part conditions.
(See my post ... http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=686894 )
Maybe then when a buyer receives "stinky" parts, they may have some recourse
to ask the seller for a resolution if they did not list any issues with the part
in the description field. Similary how sellers should note parts that show excessive
wear, discoloration, excessive scratches, other marks, etc.
More of a buyer protection issue I think - having BL list it in their terms.
Am I correct Jim?
Besides, what seller is going to click the checkbox ... [ ] My Stuff Stinks!

If certain seller doesn´t have enough intelligence, not to sell smelling parts,
do you really think he will tick "smoke smell" when putting parts into his inventory?
No one likes smoke smell at Lego parts. Even smokers many times don´t. I cannot
imagine, that seller who sells smoke through smelled crap, will honestly admit
this, knowing, that most of buyers will keep off....

| If you smoke, how do you not know it stinks? I see your point that they are used
to it, but it is pretty obvious that if your entire house smells like smoke everything
that is sent from your residence is going to smell as well. I also see the point
about the perfume, but I haven't received any packages that smell "oh so sweet"
In Suggestions, MikeS writes:
| I vote "YES" on revising the BrickLink Help - Item For Sale Condition section
to include "smoke smell" (... not that most sellers would read it).
Here is the link and passage you are referring to:
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102&q=used
Parts:
Used Parts - Parts which have been previously used and are presumably still in
good, usable condition. If the parts do show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive
scratches, other marks, etc. this should be noted in the *Comments* field.
I think that one of the problems is ... that the seller does not know that they
(.. I mean their parts) stink like smoke. If they smoke, it is probably unlikely
that they would notice their parts smell (probably like everything else in their
house). They might think their parts are fine.
(Can you guess I'm a non-smoker? )

"smoke smell" as an abnormal issue that would need to be acknowledged by the
seller at point of listing. As we all dislike nicks, and wear that show up when
not expected I certainly do not like the odor of what another does with their
time either. Smoke smell is difficult to remove, and is sometimes impossible
to lift if it has been layered on for an extended period.
Common sense should dictate whether you sell something that stinks or not, but
we live in a world where everything needs to be spelled out, so I believe this
would be wise to implement to hold sellers accountable.

PLEASE stop allowing fakes being listed as "custom"
In my mind it is a clear: - a custom item will be quite simply an item that was
created from items manufactured (not necessarily sold or made publicly available)
by TLG
You now even have items such as "custom bricks" from Taiwan listed as custom
items - how do you know these aren't actually m*gabl*ks?
If not maybe made after hours in the same factory.
It's this simple: - if it isn't manufactured by TLG - it isn't LeGo, and shouldn't
be available here, there are other venues to sell such items.
You should be aware that TLG whilst not (officially) endorsing this site, certainly
do so un-officially - many times I have been referred to Bricklink for obsolete
parts.
Please return the favour - by NOT allowing ANY and ALL non Lego parts to be listed
here.
Thank You

| Good idea. If only I was savvy enough to figure that out, I would try it. I am

could be done or would it cause too many timeout errors? So, in my case, I would
want to part out the Minifig Heads Category. Go through & adjust the cost & quantity
of each, and list. To someone not inclined with the computer I do not know if
this is as easy to do as I state it. Just a suggestion. I would think it could

It would probably drain a lot of BL resource and time out depending on category.
It would be cool though if you could do it offline with BrickStore....but that
isn't likely to happen considering the lack of updates to the software.
Alternately you (or someone else) *might* be able to create a way to pull the
BL catalog category info into an XML, which can be loaded into BrickStore and
then added to your inventory when you input quantities....just a thought.
