Well, I'm not on the catalog side so I cannot say if it will be accepted.
But it would be nice to keep this set (and the other set with the diver) as a
source of

the drum reel holder. I think you should give it a try.

I will try to make a picture and make the changes.

Additional notes are not searchable. Also, a search for "BYGGLEK" only returns
12 items in the whole catalog. Thus, I really do not see the point for this.

Even though the additional notes are not searchable, someday they may be. I have

This set contains not 2 but 4 (four) red plate 2 x 8 parts. Two of these are added in step 1 of the building instructions and are listed in the callout, the other two are added at step 24 (the last step) and ARE NOT LISTED IN THE CALLOUT, which makes them easy to miss (refer to p24 of the building instructions, see bottom of page).
|
On step 24, the plate are from step 1, they need to be moved.

The primary purpose for including stud-size dimensions is so that builders will
know the size of a part that they may not own and how that part would fit (or
if it would fit at all) into a MOC.
So stud-size dimensions have a legitimate purpose. If I'm building something,
I don't want to pull out a tape measure and start counting millimeters to
decide if a part I like (but don't own) will fit where I need it to fit.
|
Is the size field searchable?
Because if it is not, then it greatly reduces its usefulness.
|
I do not think it's searchable
If you take this part as example
Size: 1.12 x 2 x 1.67 in studs
Description: 1 1/8 x 2 x 1 2/3
Searching "1.12" or "1.67" will not return this part.
It return the same result as "1 12" or "1 67"
The search form replace '.' with ' '

It makes no sense to have stud size dimensions for anything in the dimensions
field. Having some dimensions being mm and others being studs makes all of them
useless.
|
+1
And it's simpler to measure parts in [mm] than converting in studs and having
some funny dimension like this part
Size: 1.12 x 2 x 1.67 in studs
Description: 1 1/8 x 2 x 1 2/3
|
If there are stud size dimensions, relegate them to the description field until
such time as there is a database rethink. Populate the dimensions field...systematically...x,
y, z...in mm...and that ought to go some way towards sorting out the volume calculations
for shipping and whatnot, wouldn't it?
My two cents towards more fully developing roadmap #7.
Also, why are some things 1 x 2 and other things 2 x 1? That's confusing
as all get out.

| In the case of this problem, you can't even find the problem because you
can't search for it. So it would involve examining every single catalog
entry. All 100K+ of them.
|
What do you want to find?
Something like this?
"* three *" = 153 results
"* 3 *" = 6675 results
"* three *" AND "* 3 *" = 16 results
As example, last search find:
"Technic, Panel Car Spoiler 3 x 8 with Three Holes and Black and Yellow Danger
Stripes and Mud Pattern (Stickers) - Set 7968"
"Primo Brick 1 x 1 with Three Flowers and Number 3 on Opposite Side Pattern"
Of course,I made query to find only for "three" and "3" on same description,
but with a regexp it should be simple to spot every "word digit" with "digit"
on same description like "blah with two legs and 1 arm"
Some other incoherence (digit 3 should be between '' when you have pattern
after):
"*number 3 *pattern*" = 22 result
"*number '3' *pattern*" = 3 result
If you know what you want to find, it should be easy to make a search query,
to spot the majority of incoherence.

Correction: this is the one that should not be in the catalog and should be merged
with the part above:

Hi,
I have checked the motors that I used to add pictures.
blue bb0007c01pb02 and black bb0007pb01 are the same.
For me, they can be merged (as you wanted)
For info: The only difference with bb0007 is the "4,5 V." stamped on front
PS: the funny things is that black motors are ~13 Gr lighter than blue one (but
my black motors where opened so maybe the precedent owner stole some dust/dirt
inside

| I believe the blue motor with "4.5v" stamps and without 2*4 plate black does
not exists.

I guess after few months, once I could check many motors, I will request
-
to be removed
- change the name of
[p=bb0007pb01]
to something like
"Electric, Motor 4.5V Type A 12 x 4 x 4 with Glued Black Plate 2 x 4, with 4.5V
stamped on front"
|
Yes it look like the picture blue motor is missing the glued 2.4 part.
We can see the 2x4 glued plate on the set picture
The inventory of this set do not have black 2x4 plate.

I don't think they should be merged.
If you look only on blue version of both motors, you will see that both have
"4.5V" stamped on front but not both have the black 2x4 glued parts.
If we have a mistake, it need to be for the black version of motors that should
be moved from one to the other.

Okay, but the other motor has a black 2 x 4 plate also, doesn't it?
|
You are right, something look wrong ,maybe the black plate is not the only difference.
I need to check my motors.
I can't do it right now, But I will check tomorrow.
Black motor, look like it have the "glued black plate" (on my picture of black
version)
[p=bb0007pb01]
But motor
does not exist in black.

For me , the difference on the black "2x4 plate" on the motor
PS: I know it's not a real 2x4 plate, but it look like and I don't know
how to describe it in English

1. There are different Inventory-List in the Internet. Was there really a Cable
inside the box? Light Gray Electric, Wire 12V / 4.5V with four 1-prong connectors,
96 Studs Long
2. At the alternative Items there are 31 Light Gray Train, Track 12V Conducting
Rail Curved But must it nor be 15?
Thanks for the Answers
Is there anybody, who haves a picture of the Box Backside and Inside?
|
Hello,
I think the the answer for you 2nd question is on the note at the bottom of Inventory:
Regarding the curved conducting rails included in this set, the timeline for
inclusion in sets is believed to be as follows:
1980: 16 of part 3241b Train, Track 12V Conducting Rail Curved without Cable
Connection Holes shown in the Regular Items section
1981: 16 of part 3241 Train, Track 12V Conducting Rail Curved shown in the
Alternate Items section
1982: 15 of part 3241 Train, Track 12V Conducting Rail Curved, 1 of part
3241c Train, Track 12V Conducting Rail Curved, interference-free and 1 of part
117983a Paper, Information Note, Special Suppressor Rail - 117983 shown in the
Alternate Items section

Comments from Submitter:
Something is wrong with these parts:
We should have Yellow or Bright Light Orange, but not both.
I do not find any evidences from sealed set to know if both parts exists and which one is alternate.
The right Light Orange was added in 2013, but we cannot see message log from this change.
Brickset, 'LEGO Missing parts' and toysperiods show Yellow color in inventory.
But picture of box inventory (from toysperiod) show Bright Light Orange color.
I choose to make Yellow as alternate.
