Hello Admins (Stormchaser?)

I've been listing several minifig components within my store, and I noticed
that for this item

Part No: 15339 Name: Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Shoulder Pads and Front Stud
*
15339 Minifigure Armor Breastplate with Shoulder Pads and Front Stud
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear

It's listed to have been released in 2014

I've got one with the 2012 date.

Can this be rectified?

Mine is Flat Silver.

Regards,

Paul

(Also, please check out my other catalogue suggestion?)

Shouldn't there be a separate category for these, like the Minifig Head Gear
Accessories?

I'm guessing that no-one likes the idea as laid out above?

Try looking for the sunglasses WITHOUT going direct to the Friends section, especially
if you don't know that they are from the Friends line....

Which colour code will I need to use if I were to go down the route of getting
a small rattle can made up?

It’s “ink,” so I’d go with Pantone or/and CMYK.

or would there be something smaller, like a a tester pot?

Eh, bring your parts to “test” and when the colour’s okay, just run!

I like your way of thinking....

Jokes aside, what does happen in this regard?

I've got 2 of the parts that need covering/colouring, and so what would be
the "correct" procedure to use?

I get paint mixed for my day job and the colour can vary a lot depending on the

If available, the code for the official Lego colour would be a starting point
though.

  Hello.

I have a huge dilemma.

Yes, I know that I can do what I like when it comes to my own LEGO, and I really
NEED to find out the best way to get 2 specific parts coloured to the colour
I need.

I've built a Harry Potter "Knight Bus" in the same manner as the Creator
"London Bus" set, and this has been 99% successful, with the exception of this
part:-

Part No: 24599 Name: Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
*
24599 Brick, Round Corner 5 x 5 x 1 without Studs
Parts: Brick, Round

This element NEEDS to be in Dark Purple

As I'm based in the UK, I really need to find the nearest and best product
to use to get this covered in Dark Purple (paint, or even some kind of wrap/lacquer)

Other than trying to get someone to 3-D print one, I'm stuck.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

You can search under Matchbox White Van customisers and restorers, they paint
plastic all the time.
Or any other construction set builder.

Show us when it is done

Maxx

Not sure if your sentence works, but Plastic modelling is something I used to
do, but It has been a few years (decades more like) since I last painted a complete
kit.

Humbrol paints were the medium I used, and I'd totally forgot about how good
their gloss was as I'd very rarely used it., so it's probable that I
can find a similar colour, but that will have to be on hold at the moment.

I promise to put up pictures soon..

The inventory says that there are 2 of these with the same sticker, but I can see from the sticker sheet that there is 1, and the other is of a different pattern, hence this change request. (will see if I can add the other to the catalogue)

I really did not anticipate such negative, unproductive responses to a simple
suggestions. Asking for a better descriptive system for used parts is hardly
akin to calling for a 3rd party grading company, and your reply of such shows
that you are not commenting here to be productive.

Sorry I offended you with my suggestion.

Your suggestion has SOME merit, but in reality, did you actually look at the
feedback of the sellers that you bought from?

The feedback is a marvellous indicator as to whether a seller is selling substandard
used parts or not, and by substandard, I mean scratched, bitten, and broken clips.

NOT ONCE, have I ever sent out a broken part unless it was in a place that was
unnoticeable (ie underneath), and I'd mentioned it in listing it because
it's a rare-ish piece.

I've bought from sellers in the past, and I've had nibbled parts, and
I do, and will contact them to complain, but ultimately, they are a kid's
toy, worth on average 2-5p, unlike the cards you mention.

I have no idea as to what the lowest value cards are, and I bet they are probably
20x more than a 2p piece of Lego, and that is the issue, as this is why BL won't
have the grading value that you are hoping for.

Best way to avoid all of the issues that you are concerned about, is to buy NEW
elements.

Have a good day

Hi all.

I managed to pick up one of these sets today, and I remember seeing an article
on-line about how this would combine the playability of the LEGO parts with the
Japanese love of working with paper, so I snaffled it.

Set No: e1a1401 Name: MUJI Basic Set
*
e1a1401-1 (Inv) MUJI Basic Set
64 Parts, 2011
Sets: Muji

Now, looking through the contents, I note that the original submitter did NOT
include the paper sheets, nor is there a picture of the instruction sheet/booklet

Would it really be in the interests of the catalogue to include this via the
inventory?

There are extra elements as well, which I will add shortly

I'm just concerned about the paper elements.

There are 8 different designs to be built, and the first design had been cut
out (badly), and, to my surprise, a purposely made hole puncher had been made
for use with this line, but wasn't included, so an ordinary one had been
used, which shows, as the holes are not in the right places....

Can the Cat admin(s) chime in over this?

Thanks in advance!

Paul

Rare and expensive, if it really exists and these 2 lots for sale are not typo's.

But I suspect that they are yellowed to the point where they look 'Tan'....

Possibly a heavily yellowed part?

I've seen white elements that look 'tan' in terms of colour.

look inside the part, and you should be able to determine whether it is actually
that colour

I've noticed some blue and black versions that look different. The shade
of blue is a bit greenish (image may not show this clearly) and the shade of
blue is a bit greyish. They are easily identifiable by their color variation
but they can also be identified by some whitening/fraying along the edges. I
believe they're made from a softer plastic than usual. Are these vintage
or from certain special sets?

/Jan

Honestly?

I wouldn't be surprised if this is indeed the case, as I have seen differences
in 2x2 inverted slopes, especially with Blue, and LEGO has experimented with
various 'compositions' of the plastic over the years, and I have often
seen texture differences with 1x plates, as well as various Trans colours, as
there are documented differences over the years of some of them being quite distinctly
different, but LEGO doesn't distinguish between them, for example, Trans
Orange comes to mind, and I 've seen Trans Light Blue come into play as well.

You can always list them separately, and I've done this myself.

Ah yes, thank you Paul for giving me my opening. I actually have submitted things
only to have it rejected. I'm sure I didn't fill out the form correctly,
not for a lack of effort, I just find the form to be convoluted as heck. If
it were a bit more user friendly, I think it make a huge difference in soliciting
volunteer submissions.

It's fairly easy.

For any part that is stickered, you will need to find the numerical identifier
of the last one to be issued, and for that, I use the add an image section to
find it.

Have 3 tabs up,

1st is the catalogue.
2nd is Add an image section
3rd is Add a Part section.

Say that you want to add a stickered 45deg 1x2 slope.

Find the highest number of that particular part you can quickly find.

input that number in the add image box, and it should show that part in a description.

Cycle through numbers by 10 until you get an error, and then decrease the numbers
until you then get a description, and you can then increase by 1 to get the next
sequential number.

Take a reasonable good picture of the part, preferably in daylight, or under
multiple lights, to eliminate shadows, and resize the pic to a Thumbnail on the
PC. (upload the picture, but don't submit the image yet)

Go to the add part section.

Add the number and identifier to the necessary boxes, along with the dimensions,
weight and such.

Use the same description(s) that other like parts have been added to the catalogue
before, and try to be accurate as possible.

Add the part to the catalogue.

Go back to the image section, and when you click on the verify , it should bring
up the item that you have just submitted, and you can then submit the corresponding
image.

I've done this with some of my mug collection, and will be doing others soon.

Have fun!

It doesn't matter to me what we call it. I just wish the database was a

*
41150-1 (Inv) Moana's Ocean Voyage
295 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Disney: Disney Princess: Moana

Why not buy the set and then add the stickered parts yourself?

Just remember, ALL of the pictures and set inventories are done by volunteers,
who spend time to collect parts and photograph them, adjust the ratios, colours
and what not, to add them to the catalogue.

I've done a few parts in my time, and to be honest, if I were getting paid
to do this, I'd be over it like a rash, but, hey, working with LEGO is a
labour of love....

Try it and see....

Sets: Star Wars: Ultimate Collector Series: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

* Add 11 Part 32064 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Brick 1 x 2 with Axle Hole (Alternate)

Comments from Submitter:
I have just disassembled one of these sets, and I was told by the seller that the set was direct from a sealed box, and the quality of the parts, along with the 'feel' of them confirm this, and I noticed that the Technic Bricks are different, hence this request

In this set are 16x LBG of alternate mold for this you want to add
[p=32064b]
are you sure the quantity? (11x)

Yes, I had a mix, of which it was 5 of the newer type, and 11 of the older type,
hence the numbers quoted.

Earlier versions had a more round forehead (shown on the right), the later examples
(Futuron, Blacktron and later) hat a more squared-off head (shown on the left).

Can you explain as to how you can come to this conclusion?

I have seen only a few minifigs with the squared off heads, and they all have
been in the early sets, not Futuron or Blacktron ones....

Just asking, that's all....

need to be removed!

We are not deleting all renders, but only those which are not known to appear
in any set. This part does appear in a set in black. You are welcome to provide
an actual photo of this part, but it will probably be used as an additional image
instead of the main image.

Please see the Preferences section on this page:

Interesting time ahead...

So basically at this stage, if a part does not appear in an actual set, then
bricklink wants an actual physical photo to verify that it does in fact exist?

I'm listing a few Bionicle bits within my store, and I think this part is

Like you said in your post, it's a CUSTOM model.

BrickLink doesn't recognise custom SW Models, so there will be no set number.

okay.

biggest issue: not enough light.

the light is too close to the cup, move it away

use a light color background

add a second light on the opposite side of the cup, not exactly opposite as in
180 degrees, but something like 120 degrees. look through the camera, if there
are spots that are very sharply white and obscure the art, then adjust the position
of the lights.

position the camera less "over the top" of the cup

attached, two shots with cell phone. note the one with the dark background has
harsh light on handle and lip of cup. this is what you want to try to avoid.

try positioning lights as shown in sketch.

Ah.... I see now, and yes, you have pointed out issues that even I can see...

I'll see if I can get something sorted tomorrow, as I can angle 4 lights
into a spot above my work table. (need to clear that first)

Watch this space!

I feel a black background would be best as the colours will stand out better.

Quick tips:

Shooting white on white will give you better results than white on black. Shooting
white on black will most likely push the contrast such that the subtleties in
the white range get blown out.

Light gray would also be an okay way to go.

If your'e camera savvy, put the camera on a tripod and go with a fairly long
exposure, maybe 1-2 seconds with a small aperture (f22 or higher) under daylight
lights. Your actual settings may vary, but generally long exposure, small aperture,
balanced light. If you only have one light, you might want to use a "white card"
to reflect light back onto the object from the side opposite the light source.

You definitely want a tripod or something to hold the camera still. Use the timer
or a remote trigger to take the shot, otherwise there will be camera wiggle causing
the shot to blur.

The camera on auto settings probably will make the whole shot "gray" as the internal
programming of the camera is set to achieve a particular light balance overall.
You probably will need to manually adjust the exposure to compensate for the
overall "too white" of the shot.

If the camera has a histogram, adjust exposure so the "mountains" to be on the
right side of the graph. Bracket exposures, pick the best shot.

If you want to finesse it, let me know.

M

Hahahaha..........hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

I'm sorry, but I have no idea as to what you have said because NONE of it
makes any sense to me, because I'm just using my Samsung Mobile Phone camera
to upload these images that I can take. (not computer or camera savvy at all)
it was a struggle for me to be able to re-size images to a point where they
could get uploaded...

Thank you for trying to help me in this, as I'd LOVE to take good quality
images, but I'm limited to what tools I have...

Yes, but one at a time. So you upload the second image and wait for it to be
approved. Once it is, then upload the third image. Or fourth, fifth, etc.

However, I see that there are a few mugs that are already in the catalogue, but
as I have those mugs, would my images supersede those? (or shall I take pictures
of the sides not showing instead?)

If your pictures are better, then we can replace the main image with yours and
either relegate the current image to an alternate image or delete it. If you're
going to make yourself a project out of these mugs, then I suggest you take pictures
which are uniform (same angle, same lighting), large, clear, well-lit, and on
a completely white background.

The images mfav takes are the gold standard for images. You can see what I'm
talking about in the images of these hinge assemblies (he took most of them):

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?searchMethod=searchBoth&q=3937*&itemBrand=1000&catType=&itemYear=&catID=&catLike=W

Thanks for doing this, BTW.

White background?

Hmm....

Most of the mugs are in white, which will make it hard to see the 'inside'
of them as this sometimes has a small design on the inside....

I'll submit 1 image of one on a White, and then another on a Black, and maybe
you can let me know which is best?

I feel a black background would be best as the colours will stand out better.

Paul

(I have an ulterior motive about doing this as I want to do a FB page showing
the collection in it's glory...)

Any item in the catalog can already have multiple additional images. If there
is a maximum number of images possible, then I'm not aware of it. I have
moved your post from Suggestions to Catalog.

To show you that this is already possible, I've drawn a very crude 2 and
3 over the image for this item and uploaded each as additional images (I will
delete them soon, so check them out quickly):

Gear No: 4495479 Name: Cup / Mug Bricks Melamine
*
4495479 Cup / Mug Bricks Melamine
Gear: Food & Drink

The only caveat is that you must upload additional images for a specific catalog
entry one at a time and wait for each to be approved before you can upload the
next.

Ok,

I see now.

So, for each mug I add to the catalogue, I have to upload the 'main'
image, and then when that's done, the additional '2' and '3'
afterwards...

I can live with that.

However, I see that there are a few mugs that are already in the catalogue, but

Hi all.

Most of you may not know this but I believe that the mugs selection in the 'Gear'
category doesn't do it justice, as 90% of those images are not quite good
enough to see the whole design of the mugs fully.

I propose that the mugs selection to be allowed to have 3 images maximum, which
will allow the mugs to be displayed fully, and that the whole design can be seen.

I am willing to submit at least 60+ mugs to the catalogue, but it will be difficult
to show the mugs off if I'm limited to 1 picture.

Can this suggestion be implemented?

Cheers,

Paul

I definitely agree with dearlydeparted on this. I think this part should stay
in the catalog. I know when I buy it, I look for the assembly.

I assume the multitude of possible combinations would be due to all the different
colors that that hinge comes in? Perhaps the only assembly of it allowed in
the catalog would be one in which both halves are the same color? If the top
and bottom halves are different colors, then the seller will have to list them
separately.

David

This actually makes sense...

Maybe something can be done to not allow sellers to sell combinations of different
colour sections?

It's easier to 'store' them when they are paired up, but then again,
the individual parts cost more than the assembly....

I know I'll be sticking with the individuals from now on...

"Hinge Brick 1 x 4 Swivel - Complete Assembly - (MARKED FOR DELETION)
Item No: 3830c01

This item was marked for deletion because it sets a precedent for adding dozens
of unnecessary combinations of hinges as assemblies to the catalog."

You have 17 'lots' of these listed within your store.

You also have the 'halves' that make up these components.

How hard it it going to be to delete the assemblies from your inventory, separate
the 2 parts, and adjust the totals within the inventory that you have?

I did it within 10 mins.

I understand WHY it's been marked for deletion, and as soon as I saw that,
I updated my inventory straight away.

(The only thing I'm prevaricating on is the clickits that I have.....) They
are really a pain to identify!

  Hi

I saw this on Amazon Prime, and I was instantly curious as to what the name really
means

Set No: 2729 Name: Greedy (Quattro Leg) polybag
*
2729-1 (Inv) Greedy (Quattro Leg) polybag
17 Parts, 1999
Sets: Universal Building Set: Classic Basic

Why is this packaged as a McDonalds set, and it has nothing to do with Quattro?

Maybe this is an item that needs to be 'sorted out'?

I don’t know anything about McDonald’s characters, but wouldn’t Quattro be their
here-depicted four-legged spiderish characer?

What you have said does kinda make sense, but surely the naming of the set could
be a little 'clearer'?
