Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 6373 Name: Motorcycle Shop
*
6373-1 (Inv) Motorcycle Shop
163 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 1984
Sets: Town: Classic Town: Traffic

* Add 2 Part 3024 Yellow Plate 1 x 1
* Add 1 Part 3794a Yellow Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud without Groove (Jumper)
* Change {1 to 2} Part Red 3069b Tile 1 x 2 with Groove

Comments from Submitter:
I got a used copy in very good condition. Even the sprues are there. These parts were extra in the box. I found almost all of them on the models on back of the box.

- The yellow jumper can be seen in two models.
- Two yellow 1*1 plate can be seen on the ship (left-side top) Sorry for the
quality of the image. The yellow plates 4*1, 1*1 and 10*1 are used on each side
of the ship, on the edge.
- Two 1*2 red tiles are used on various red or yellow motorcycles.
- It is likely that on the bottom left-side of model, three yellow 1*1 plates
are used. But the box art is not clear.

I believe three yellow plates 1*1 came with this set. Whether the third is extra
is used on an alternate model is not clear.

Based on your photos the presence of the red 3069b and yellow 3794a is clearly
visible in the alternate models. Can you post photos showing a bit more detail
of the alternate models where the yellow 3024 are used? It would probably be
a bit better visible if you posted close-ups of just those models instead of
the whole back of the box.

The sword and spear are definitely Flat Silver in this video. I have a feeling
the original book had Pearl Light Gray parts and they were replaced by the new
Flat Silver parts in 2010. Therefore, I will add Flat Silver parts as alternates.

Cheers,
Randy

I'm sure you're right. I had only checked the mold, not the color.

What do you think about the language variants of these books? Should I submit
change requests according to the english version? (I haven't found any photos
or videos of them yet.)

I wouldn't yet. Different markets have different parts, and I do not know
if all of these books were produced and packaged in the same location at the
same time.

Cheers,
Randy

Comments from Submitter:
The alternate Flat Silver spear was added in December 2011. Since the flat end version did not appear until 2012, I am changing both entries to the round end version. See also https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=211103

The flat end spears were never made in Pearl Light Gray since that color was
retired before the flat end spears were produced. Since this set definitely came
with Pearl Light Gray spears when it first released, they have to be of the round
end variety.

Cheers,
Randy

Stickered skateboards show up as counterparts in inventories, both with and without
wheels.

I'm about to add a stickered skateboard to the catalog, but I only have time
to add one of the variations. Do either of the variations have a higher priority
for being added to the catalog over the other?
For example

Part No: 42511pb09 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Skateboard Deck with Red Apple Pattern (Sticker)
*
42511pb09 Minifigure, Utensil Skateboard Deck with Red Apple Pattern (Sticker)
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil, Decorated
Marked for Deletion
and

Part No: 42511c01pb09 Name: Minifigure, Utensil Skateboard Deck with Red Apple on Black Background Pattern (Sticker) with Black Wheels (42511pb09 / 2496)
*
42511c01pb09 Minifigure, Utensil Skateboard Deck with Red Apple on Black Background Pattern (Sticker) with Black Wheels (42511pb09 / 2496)
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil, Decorated

'm not sure i'm submitting this correctly, but what I am trying to accomplish is changing inventory of set 9499 for part 4073 in trans-orange from 8 to 14.

i have built this set twice. both times instructions called for 14 trans-orange 4073.

Are there different versions of instructions for this set? I just did a quick
glance through the instructions that I found at Brick set and only found 8.

* Change 1 Part Blue 2913c01 Electric, Train Track Contact Base with Wire (97 cm) and Connector {Counterpart to Regular}

Comments from Submitter:
From sealed set contents, Catawiki 29351443.

Since I don't know anything about the blue 12V train era (This set is exactly twice my age! ) I hope someone else can help here:

It's a bit before my time as well

  - Should the wheels with gray rims be alternate parts?

If I remember correctly someone did write something about the transition between
the two colors of rims in another change request for a set from that time. Probably
Reza because he knows a lot about these older train sets. I'll have to look
it up when I have some more time.

  - What is the wire with two connectors for? The photo shows it with 1x bb0236ac01 and 1x bb0093ac01, but the catalog image shows 2x bb0236ac01.

Probably for when you use the motor to build a car instead of a train. You can
see that the set includes the necessary wheels and tires for that. The train
track contact base is used to connect to the conducting rails when you use the
motor for a train, but when using it is a car you'd need a wire with two
connectors to connect it to the transformer. It appears that transformer 740
needs the bb093ac01 connector while the bb0236ac01 connector would go in the
motor.

Based on that it seems that the wire with two different connectors should be
correct for this set, but I am not familiar enough with the sets from that time
to be completely confident about that. Especially when the box art shows a wire
with two connectors bb0236ac01. So I would appreciate input from people more
familiar with these sets from the late 1960s.

Comments from Submitter:
From sealed set contents, Catawiki 29351443.

Since I don't know anything about the blue 12V train era (This set is exactly twice my age! ) I hope someone else can help here:

- Should the wheels with gray rims be alternate parts?
- What is the wire with two connectors for? The photo shows it with 1x bb0236ac01 and 1x bb0093ac01, but the catalog image shows 2x bb0236ac01.

If it would make that much difference, it sounds like you are constantly searching
US only. While I get that it is useful to filter on your own country some of
the time, are you sure that you never want to order something from sellers
in other countries? From what I understood US shipping is expensive, there are
no import duties (correct me if I'm wrong), you don't have to pay VAT,
so ordering abroad can get you some pretty good deals. You might be blocking
out a huge part of Bricklink that could have just what you are looking for.

I do not have a good evidence, but something look wrong for me on this set inventory.

You can see on the attached picture a red part that is partially hidden.
(I know set picture from catalog are not a good prove, but it's the only
picture that we can found)

The two others sets with horse

Part No: horse01c01 Name: Duplo Horse with Movable Head and Tail
*
horse01c01 Duplo Horse with Movable Head and Tail
Parts: DUPLO, Animal
have part

Part No: x1316c02 Name: Duplo Rattle Rocking Bottom with Yellow and Blue Wheels
*
x1316c02 Duplo Rattle Rocking Bottom with Yellow and Blue Wheels
Parts: DUPLO

Maybe someone who own this set can confirm or reject this inventory change.

I have a lot of these pieces, over 100, most in Light Gray from old Harry Potter

one is rarer, but I'd love to see what others have to say.

Maybe it's worth millions D:

I noticed there are two variants of the 40243 spiral step that behave differently.
On the bottom side, there is a support ridge in the round part that may be located
(see picture):

- Facing away from the step
- Facing toward the step

Both parts have the same code, 40243.

When assembled with the 40244 support axle, with the steps fully spread out:

- The variant which has the support facing away from the step, will have
a part of each step overlapping the previous one (see second picture).

- The variant which has the support facing toward the step - as far I
can tell - will have no (or very little) overlap between adjacent steps.

See third picture, but note only the lowest 6 steps are of the second variant,
because I don't currently have a full set of 8 of them.

All of the steps pictured here are of the old light gray color.

So, does anyone happen to know if particular sets come with a particular variant,
or if it's just random?

Yeah, it might be quite complicated the very first time it's dealt with.
I'm not a programmer so I don't really know, but I that this problem
has been solved on many, many, other websites and I'm sure it could be implemented
on BrickLink as well.

  Hello everyone,

I'm very pleased to announce that we have appointed longtime member BricksThatStick
to the Catalog Associate position. Paul served as the site's 4th Inventories
Admin during 2010 to 2011 alongside Emma (SimplyBricks). He effectively replaced
Dan Jezek, the site's founder, who had a special fondness for inventories
work and who of course left very big shoes to fill.

If you take the time to scroll through Paul's 900+ inventories changes:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogInvChangeItem.asp?chgUserID=44744&v=3

...you will notice a sea of green, followed by a sea of blue, followed by another
sea of green. This means he continued to contribute to the catalog after having
once been an admin, which is (unfortunately) something rather uncommon. But it
demonstrates a great and correct attitude, the kind of attitude we wish to model
for all of our other contributors out there, especially the ones still cutting
their teeth.

Paul has, over the years, been very active as a seller and many of you will know
him also from his activity in the Forum. We look forward to his practical insights
and we are confident he will play a vital role in our growing catalog team.

Please welcome him back!

Welcome back, Paul #2. Thank you for helping Dan and thank you for helping Dan's
legacy. I never knew him at all, but the thing he made is a good thing and it
needs care. I'll be seeing you around.

Sorry, but I must say that I take offense at this statement. You are passing
judgement on the previous admins and their reasons for leaving the site. You
are implying that the 'correct' attitude would be to maintain one's
dedication to a site even after you may have had a bad experience.
You don't know how they were treated by the management and members of this
site.

Jen

This thread was supposed to be a joyful welcome for a new team member. I'm
sorry if it was offensive to anyone and I don't want to argue a point.

I will leave this thread as it is for now. But if people keep commenting on this
issue, I will be forced to lock it.

I think you make a valid point, I felt so when I first read Russell’s statement
yesterday. But if you’ll allow me just a moment of open mindedness to express
how I reasoned through that portion or Russell’s post…

Simply put, the 'attitude' Russell speaks of, and what you've taken
umbrage with, is for lack of a better term, site first. That is the idea
of BL, not any given people of it - at any given time. Yes, it’s a for-profit
venture, but it’s inception and all important developmental years, were steeped
in the idea of a site that is community for AFOL, according to what is now doctrine
but simply was what Daniel expressed.

I think Russell (understanding he’s partially responsible for the current direction
of BL) to use a metaphor, is attempting to correct course of the ship we all
have boarded

You were as dedicated a BL Inventories Admin as any, I thought. We never met,
but I think I remember you from the Seattle Round Table, sitting across from
my son and I. You’ve given a lot of yourself to the site and should be shown
appreciation, along with the several others that have given selflessly to better
our catalog, including the many non-admin contributors. Catalog is what makes
this site, IMHO.

All that being said, I understand Russell’s statement.

As to your statement "how they were treated by the management and members
of this site" you're no longer an admin, express yourself! I don't believe
unpaid positions are subject to the same enforceability of non-discloser agreements,
if any If you want people to understand the concern that you've taken
the time to post, you'll need to add more context.

Forum participants are less than a percent of the overall site membership, but
the percentage of those that read the forum is far greater.

Take your time, but tell your story, Jen. That is, if you haven't already
somewhere here in the forum.

First: Is this the right part of the forum to suggest features for stud.io? Where
else can I contact developers file bugs, propose features etc?

I think it would be nice to be able to import a sketch, drawing, photo as a background
plane (either xy-plane, one of the three or freely positioned) and scale it to
your needs. I think this would help me designing models way more easily if I
can base it on a drawing, blueprint, etc.

Any opinions on that?

...you will notice a sea of green, followed by a sea of blue, followed by another
sea of green.

Russell

Congratulations kind sir.

It would be great if I could change the time zone on BrickLink. Maybe not the
most necessary feature, but it feels like it wouldn't be that difficult of
a thing to implement.

Have you ever thought about it's complexity?

Very simple: everything is stored in UTC and presented in a local/chosen TZ.

The UTC → local TZ conversion is done with a standard, well tested library.

There. The complexity is outsourced.

Besides, it’s just about presentation. Official times are those in the database,
on the server, in UTC.

  See Tom Scott's YouTube
episode about implementing time zones in programming:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5wpm-gesOY

I stopped watching after he began talking about DST (“autumn in England”).

And that’s absurd. He talks about a programmer who:
1. doesn’t know what TZs are,
2. adds cases one by one instead of, finally, learning what’s it about,
3. and thus reinvents the wheel, spoke by spoke.

Yes, timezones are complex (and involve politics, therefore also totally insane)
and that’s why you don’t cobble up something in your garage.

Yes, timezones change frequently (remember, politics), but you just update the
TZ data the library uses.

One could do the same kind of video about 3D geometry or any other complex or
complicated but already well known feature.

Just showing a given UTC time in a chosen TZ should be easy peasy.

I thought it would be a sarcastic video. As you say, there's really no need
to reinvent the wheel, this has been done so many times over there must be plenty
of resources you can use very easily.
BrickOwl has timezones, other market platforms have timezones, forums have timezones,
social media have timezones.. and it all works without issues. Bricklink is really
the odd one out.
